Honestly I’m convinced a Susie fight is inevitable in the Weird Route, thematically and narratively speaking. Susie is shown to take being betrayed extremely poorly, even if her altercation with Lancer was before she had fully gone through her character arc. And she’s shown to resist our control many times, and is seemingly quite observant of when things aren’t going right. (Her reaction to Spamton NEO and her line about not feeling like they saved the world in post-Snowgrave)
Susie getting Megalovania and final boss status for the Weird Route would go so fucking hard. She literally goes from claiming she’s a villain to being the last person left who can stop the ACTUAL villain.

I think that it would probably be called Actionlovania instead of Megalovania because in the original Undertale, you are more Megalomaniacal than actually taking Actions to achieve your goal.
It's kind of poetic, because he made the song after being unable to use the song Megalomania from the game Live A Live. And in that game, that song is used for the final boss of each chapter, the main thing which ties all of them together...

@@BRBasher its theorised to, because (i think) it doesnt really fit with sans' normal motifs (like his song and its raining somewhere else) that it is actually the player's as in the sans fight/judgement it is sans trying to stop the player from the genocide route. so in that situation, sans really is the protagonist of undertale which thus implies that the boss theme is actually the player's!! (sorry for he very long explanation that you probably didnt want or need)

actually in just about every time Megalovania is used it is neither the character's song but is it meant for them Megalovania is the song of someone deciding "you know what enough is enough, you've gone too far and someone needs to put you in your place" Dr. Andonuts in the Halloween hack pretty much begs you to leave him alone and points out how messed up going into his mind to kill him when he's already suffering and dying is before getting angry and deciding to fight back. honestly the final boss being Susie after realizing what's going on with the soul and learning Kris genuinely just cannot live without it, ending in her taking desperate measures, seems kinda perfect to me. while Kris is the lens through which we get to see the story, Susie seems to be the most like a true central protagonist
Yeah. Honestly we need more games where you are like the lens and not the "actual" protagonist. I think Elder Scrolls Oblivion kinda did that, with your character just sorta being the secondary character who aids the true protagonist of the story, Martin Septim until you actually get your own adventure and get to be an actual pprotagonist in the Shivering Isles DLC. Idk if that counts?

This ties back to a realisation I had about MEGALOVANIA a few years back. It's not just the theme that plays when you fight Sans. It's more than that. It's what you hear when facing the toughest enemy of your journey.

@@SiHasBeenSpawnedi actually played undertale for the first time with geno, first time using blue and green soul, and all except red and yellow ( deltarune ) and i can say that sans's first phaze is harder than the second somehow It took me around the same time to beat both, but i was fricking love 12 for undyne but i did same snow pieces for sans If not love 12, and like 9 or 8 like most have it would take much longer
Yeah, she's absolutely the closest match for the non-Sans characters who used it, and we're all pretty sure it was supposed to be Chara's boss theme by now for exact same reason that s/he's the one its traditional use actually fits in that fight.

the transition at 0:19 is awesome, and it makes it feel like it's THE megalovania. It's almost as if the song straight up tells you that out of every version of megalovania, this one is the most significant
If Megalovania is ever used in Deltarune, I 100% think it's going to be used for Susie. The thematic connections of it just make too much sense, and I can entirely see her being the final boss of the Snowgrave/Weird route.
That makes sense. In Undertale, if we go the pacifist route, Sans is going to be more like a friend. If we become genocide, Sans will try to kill us because we have become a threat not only to the underground, but to humanity. I think that, in Deltarune, this song would fit Susie a lot because she would start out as a friend but if we follow the Weird/Snowgrave route then she will try to stop us after seeing what we have become.

A modern depiction of what MEGALOVANIA truly represents would be super hype Imagine this: The music starts and she readies her axe against you, the background gets more intense, then a deltarune symbol appears in the middle of the bridge, which shatters. Then at 0:12 you enter battle, but you are on the right side now... *after all, you were always the true monster. Missed your theme huh?*

This feels like a celebration of every Megalovania that came before. Homestuck, Earthbound, Undertale, Smash Bros, Deltarune, it’s all here. The guitars fit so well with Susie, and the Homestuck guitar solo bit removed the soul from my body! Incredible work!

Ya know how I like to imagine how this battle's special gimmick could be?: You are shown a full display of the attacks during the whole battle (before doing them) because you'll only have one attempt (and no, the game won't hold back) , if you fail, the game saves, you soul is broken for good, Susie does the soul grabbing thing with herself (she half-saw Kris do it at the end of ch2) splits her soul and chucks the other half on kris, letting both of them move on with their life, though severely weakened overall because of that
I never thought about it but now I'm almost certain Megalovania will be a boss theme in Deltarune somehow. Given how often Toby puts it in his projects
It just dawned on me. Megalovania isn't sans's theme, or Chara's theme, or your theme. It's the theme for when two people get pushed to their absolute limits. That's why fights with Megalovania are always balls-to-the-wall hard.
I absolutely love the idea that at the end of the weird route, with nobody else around, Susie stands against you and fights as hard as you know she can, but its like Lancer from chapter one, your only friend begging for hers to come back.
I really love the idea that if Susie actually caughts on to what we are doing, that the final boss won't be like Sans or something, but Susie. It would just make more sense. At the most since I'm 80% if not 90% that Toby WILL insert megalovania into Deltarune. So I now really hope that Susie will be the final boss "Sans like boss". At the most since it would be very emotional to some degree. Since we got to know her from Day 1.
this is kinda perfect for being a susie vs kris?? to me this song represents more someone being at the height of their evil. the player being revealed as an antagonist in the halloween hack, vriska adding onto the casualties in a war against jack noir rather than helping aradia, and frisk completely losing themselves to the power of LV and having to face the most universally loved guy in the underground this would work PERFECTLY as an emotional climax in the weird route. when you've gone so far off the deep end even SUSIE has to stand up to you, kris's closest friend in hometown
I absolutely adore this idea and the music direction behind this version of the song The idea intrigues me because unlike the Halloween Hack (idk about Homestuck too much so I can’t say much about it), or the Undertale version, this one has you encounter Kris’ only friend as the last one who stands in your way. Not a mad scientist with power, or a flying creature with a sword in its chest or even a lazy yet secret scientific skeleton. The music itself is a mix between all 3 at least from what I can tell. And I love that approach due to it basically displaying the history of this piece throughout all of Toby’s work. Excellent job overall
The context in which HS Megalovania plays is sort of convoluted. The most of it is player turned god freezing the main antagonist in time. The last 30-50 seconds of the flash focus on one player attacking another player (who the former subconsciously saw as a a friend.)
just as susie readies her axe, a figure steps out of the dark. holding something small in his hands, the stranger lifts his head, revealing himself to be... the janitor at the grocery store. he shuffles toward susie, that item in his hands held tight- you look closer, and discover it's a crown, the word _MeGaLo_ etched into the shimmering gold. "this crown has been passed down through the ages for generations," sans says. he adjusts his grip on the crown, then reaches up to place it comfortably onto susie's head. "it's been mine for a long time... but now it's time for you to take up the mantle." sans winks at her as he begins to step back into the shade. "go get 'em, tiger."
every megalovania has a unique section, and 2:20 does NOT disappoint!!! i was waiting for a deltarune leitmotif and i got SO excited when i recognized the few bits scattered around
Considering how Toby takes megalovania with him wherever he goes (From Earthbound hacks to Homestuck I think to Undertale) it wouldn’t surprise me if it was included in Deltarune later on.

if megalovania actually was in deltarune i would genuinally breakdown crying of joy. i would just sit there at the start of the boss sobbing over the silly video game all due to the sheer emotional value of that scene to me. genuinally, toby using megalo in his magnum opus would be absolutly incredible.
there’s a theory i’m rather fond of (i’m like 70% sure you’ve heard of it but), it says megalovania is a theme for the player in undertale’s no mercy route rather than sans (hence why it bears so little resemblance to any other songs in the ost), with stmpwyfs being his actual battle theme (also sorta lining up with its use in halloween hack and homestuck, being a theme for characters that are “too far gone” in a sense) following this logic, this makes literal perfect sense and i hope toby makes this real

I feel like sans would be TOO iconic, and i'm afraid if this were to come up eventually we'll lose the feel like megalovania is sans' theme. Perchance slightly changing the song's motif and name to Megalomania/Megalomaniac would fit Susie more, And if it WERE to happen, it'd be real cool seeing Susie dodge Kris' attacks, judging by the fact they've been fighting together for quite a while.
Not only is this an amazing remix, but the Homestuck guitar riffs (which I absolutely adore) reflect Susie’s theme being on electric guitar which ties her in and makes it so satisfying. Seriously well done!!

Y'know... all these Deltarune USTs with remixes of this song for Susie make me realize. Megalovania was NEVER just the theme for sans' fight. It was for that one character, that one character you've grown to see go through so, SO many experiences, Whether alongside you as the protagonist or not. That one character... that at the end of everything, even despite being the only one left, despite the weight of the world against them, despite knowing that they are one hundred percent doomed to fail at the hands of you... They pick themselves up through the unending hopelessness... ...𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗸 𝗱𝗼𝘄𝗻 𝘂𝗽𝗼𝗻 𝘆𝗼𝘂, 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗮𝗴𝗼𝗻𝗶𝘀𝘁, 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗮 𝘀𝗰𝗼𝘄𝗹 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗳𝗶𝗲𝗿𝗰𝗲𝗹𝘆 𝗴𝗹𝗼𝘄𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗲𝘆𝗲. Orrrrr it's just an overly edgy final boss theme that just so happened to sneak its way into 3 incredibly massive properties and I'm looking too deep into it.
Imagine having a battle mechanic where Kris fights for control as you try to force them to attack their friend Susie. Maybe the narration box would give you wrong information, or just insult you directly as Kris finds their voice and speaks directly to you. Also, imagine how jarring it would be for characters to speak to you, the player, by name using whatever you input in the beginning
i love that you inculded a lot of stuff from the homestuck version, because it has a lot of emphisis on its electric guitar solos and soundfonts, something susie has as a lightmotif, between her lancer fight and locker scene :)
Thematically, if Deltarune doesn't end with Susie being the final boss in some capacity, this game is ultimately going to be a little disappointing. EVERYTHING is leading up to this. Susie was a cold and scary monster who literally gave you death threats on your first day of school. Now she's one of the sweetest kids in town and one of the truly best people you meet in the world. She's gone from clobbering every creature she meets in the Dark World to becoming essentially an older sister to Lancer. In many instances, she feels like more of the protagonist than Kris does. Then we look at Kris. Our avatar....or so we thought. Sure we may control Kris, but that's exactly the point. We CONTROL Kris. Kris still is an independent being. And as it turns out, an independent being with horrific and violent tendencies. If left to their own devices, Kris will brandish knives, threaten and manipulate Noelle (unconfirmed but I believe Snowgrave is us giving Kris what they want since it features a lot more instances of Kris saying things without us and moving on their own), and ultimately be a force driving the conflict as Kris opens a new Dark World and puts their family and friends in danger. It'd be simply poetic if Kris's bully who threatened to kill them only to see Kris as their best friend and closest confidant, only for in the end for Kris to be the monster turning on the person who changed for the better because of Kris.
The idea of the final fight of the weird route being Susie and having this song play would be absolutely amazing. Not only is the track itself a beautiful remix that combines all three Megalovania's into one, as a sort of way of showing how this is Toby's dream project and that it's all led up to here, not ONLY is it adapted to have guitars similar to those in VS Susie while having a melancholic tone, perfectly showing how by this point Susie and Kris' friendship is gone for good, NOT ONLY does having the fight take place at the final dark fountain make the whole thing all the more climactic yet chilling (which side note but I think it would be really cool if it was actually the fountain we see in Castle Town), NOT. ONLY would it show Susie's character development with her going from not caring about the Dark World at all to wanting to protect whatever's left of it with her life, but just the entire concept of a fight between you and your once best friend would hit all the harder when you KNOW Kris probably wouldn't have ever wanted to do any of this and yet you forced their hand, as a sort of evolution of Undertale's genocide run but a lot more obvious. With just the two chapters we have already, and the ones we will get it the future, an idea like this (obviously with better writing than my brain can come up with) would work just as well as the Sans fight does in Undertale thematically and (if I may indulge in a bit of cringe) I feel like having something refering back to their first in-game encounter, something along the lines of... *Y'know, maybe it's not quiet people that piss me off *Maybe... *IT'S JUST YOU ...would just tie everything full circle in the best way possible. Fantastic remix with a fantastic idea for a boss alongside it.
More likely characters to have the MEGALOVANIA theme in Deltarune include, but are not limited to: -Kris themself -Chara -Gaster -The Knight -Frisk -An entirely new character, and most importantly -Sans

Kris would probably get their own theme due to the relevance they have to the story as their main character (partially but still) Chara hasn't even been hinted at aside from one moment at the strart which could also very well be Gaster Gaster himself would, again, probably get his own theme due to his relevance to the larger narrative. The Knight could be a ton of people atm, and if it's Kris then the same as before applies. Frisk is just straight up not in the game at all. A new character could be the most likely of the options you mention, but it would lack the same kind of emotional punch as someone who's been there since the start. And just because Sans is there doesn't mean he's the same character as in Undertale or that he shares the same relevance to the plot. He met Kris like two days ago at best and as far as he knows (or frankly cares), they're just some weird smelly teenager.

I think this goes with the theme of us, the player being the villain, and Susie isn’t the final boss. We are. Therefore we experience a boss fight from the villain’s perspective.
It's basically a leitmotif to most of the music in deltarune, but I guess it came from "Begging". It's just the first song that has this rhythm in the deltarune ost and it kinda reminds me of a song from Undertale but I don't know which

Honestly I’m convinced a Susie fight is inevitable in the Weird Route, thematically and narratively speaking. Susie is shown to take being betrayed extremely poorly, even if her altercation with Lancer was before she had fully gone through her character arc. And she’s shown to resist our control many times, and is seemingly quite observant of when things aren’t going right. (Her reaction to Spamton NEO and her line about not feeling like they saved the world in post-Snowgrave)
I would LOVE for Susie to keep on being a antiforce to the player. Fuck, I love this part of the game so much.

@@BRBasher its theorised to, because (i think) it doesnt really fit with sans' normal motifs (like his song and its raining somewhere else) that it is actually the player's as in the sans fight/judgement it is sans trying to stop the player from the genocide route. so in that situation, sans really is the protagonist of undertale which thus implies that the boss theme is actually the player's!! (sorry for he very long explanation that you probably didnt want or need)

honestly the final boss being Susie after realizing what's going on with the soul and learning Kris genuinely just cannot live without it, ending in her taking desperate measures, seems kinda perfect to me. while Kris is the lens through which we get to see the story, Susie seems to be the most like a true central protagonist

Yeah. Honestly we need more games where you are like the lens and not the "actual" protagonist. I think Elder Scrolls Oblivion kinda did that, with your character just sorta being the secondary character who aids the true protagonist of the story, Martin Septim until you actually get your own adventure and get to be an actual pprotagonist in the Shivering Isles DLC. Idk if that counts?

the transition at 0:19 is awesome, and it makes it feel like it's THE megalovania. It's almost as if the song straight up tells you that out of every version of megalovania, this one is the most significant
If Megalovania is ever used in Deltarune, I 100% think it's going to be used for Susie. The thematic connections of it just make too much sense, and I can entirely see her being the final boss of the Snowgrave/Weird route.

That makes sense. In Undertale, if we go the pacifist route, Sans is going to be more like a friend. If we become genocide, Sans will try to kill us because we have become a threat not only to the underground, but to humanity. I think that, in Deltarune, this song would fit Susie a lot because she would start out as a friend but if we follow the Weird/Snowgrave route then she will try to stop us after seeing what we have become.
It could have been a good final boss for the chapter 1 weird route. Probably will never came. But hey. Fangames aren't that cheap

This feels like a celebration of every Megalovania that came before. Homestuck, Earthbound, Undertale, Smash Bros, Deltarune, it’s all here. The guitars fit so well with Susie, and the Homestuck guitar solo bit removed the soul from my body! Incredible work!

You are shown a full display of the attacks during the whole battle (before doing them) because you'll only have one attempt (and no, the game won't hold back) , if you fail, the game saves, you soul is broken for good, Susie does the soul grabbing thing with herself (she half-saw Kris do it at the end of ch2) splits her soul and chucks the other half on kris, letting both of them move on with their life, though severely weakened overall because of that

I absolutely adore this idea and the music direction behind this version of the song
The idea intrigues me because unlike the Halloween Hack (idk about Homestuck too much so I can’t say much about it), or the Undertale version, this one has you encounter Kris’ only friend as the last one who stands in your way. Not a mad scientist with power, or a flying creature with a sword in its chest or even a lazy yet secret scientific skeleton.
The music itself is a mix between all 3 at least from what I can tell. And I love that approach due to it basically displaying the history of this piece throughout all of Toby’s work. Excellent job overall
The context in which HS Megalovania plays is sort of convoluted. The most of it is player turned god freezing the main antagonist in time. The last 30-50 seconds of the flash focus on one player attacking another player (who the former subconsciously saw as a a friend.)
just as susie readies her axe, a figure steps out of the dark. holding something small in his hands, the stranger lifts his head, revealing himself to be... the janitor at the grocery store. he shuffles toward susie, that item in his hands held tight- you look closer, and discover it's a crown, the word _MeGaLo_ etched into the shimmering gold.
"this crown has been passed down through the ages for generations," sans says. he adjusts his grip on the crown, then reaches up to place it comfortably onto susie's head. "it's been mine for a long time... but now it's time for you to take up the mantle."

there’s a theory i’m rather fond of (i’m like 70% sure you’ve heard of it but), it says megalovania is a theme for the player in undertale’s no mercy route rather than sans (hence why it bears so little resemblance to any other songs in the ost), with stmpwyfs being his actual battle theme (also sorta lining up with its use in halloween hack and homestuck, being a theme for characters that are “too far gone” in a sense)

At this point the megalovania theme is a shared theme for only the hardest of monsters the player faces
Imagine having a battle mechanic where Kris fights for control as you try to force them to attack their friend Susie. Maybe the narration box would give you wrong information, or just insult you directly as Kris finds their voice and speaks directly to you. Also, imagine how jarring it would be for characters to speak to you, the player, by name using whatever you input in the beginning

i love that you inculded a lot of stuff from the homestuck version, because it has a lot of emphisis on its electric guitar solos and soundfonts, something susie has as a lightmotif, between her lancer fight and locker scene :)
Thematically, if Deltarune doesn't end with Susie being the final boss in some capacity, this game is ultimately going to be a little disappointing. EVERYTHING is leading up to this. Susie was a cold and scary monster who literally gave you death threats on your first day of school. Now she's one of the sweetest kids in town and one of the truly best people you meet in the world. She's gone from clobbering every creature she meets in the Dark World to becoming essentially an older sister to Lancer. In many instances, she feels like more of the protagonist than Kris does.
Then we look at Kris. Our avatar....or so we thought. Sure we may control Kris, but that's exactly the point. We CONTROL Kris. Kris still is an independent being. And as it turns out, an independent being with horrific and violent tendencies. If left to their own devices, Kris will brandish knives, threaten and manipulate Noelle (unconfirmed but I believe Snowgrave is us giving Kris what they want since it features a lot more instances of Kris saying things without us and moving on their own), and ultimately be a force driving the conflict as Kris opens a new Dark World and puts their family and friends in danger.
It'd be simply poetic if Kris's bully who threatened to kill them only to see Kris as their best friend and closest confidant, only for in the end for Kris to be the monster turning on the person who changed for the better because of Kris.

The idea of the final fight of the weird route being Susie and having this song play would be absolutely amazing.
Not only is the track itself a beautiful remix that combines all three Megalovania's into one, as a sort of way of showing how this is Toby's dream project and that it's all led up to here, not ONLY is it adapted to have guitars similar to those in VS Susie while having a melancholic tone, perfectly showing how by this point Susie and Kris' friendship is gone for good, NOT ONLY does having the fight take place at the final dark fountain make the whole thing all the more climactic yet chilling (which side note but I think it would be really cool if it was actually the fountain we see in Castle Town), NOT. ONLY would it show Susie's character development with her going from not caring about the Dark World at all to wanting to protect whatever's left of it with her life, but just the entire concept of a fight between you and your once best friend would hit all the harder when you KNOW Kris probably wouldn't have ever wanted to do any of this and yet you forced their hand, as a sort of evolution of Undertale's genocide run but a lot more obvious.
With just the two chapters we have already, and the ones we will get it the future, an idea like this (obviously with better writing than my brain can come up with) would work just as well as the Sans fight does in Undertale thematically and (if I may indulge in a bit of cringe) I feel like having something refering back to their first in-game encounter, something along the lines of...
*Y'know, maybe it's not quiet people that piss me off

...would just tie everything full circle in the best way possible. Fantastic remix with a fantastic idea for a boss alongside it.

The Knight could be a ton of people atm, and if it's Kris then the same as before applies.
Frisk is just straight up not in the game at all.
A new character could be the most likely of the options you mention, but it would lack the same kind of emotional punch as someone who's been there since the start.
And just because Sans is there doesn't mean he's the same character as in Undertale or that he shares the same relevance to the plot. He met Kris like two days ago at best and as far as he knows (or frankly cares), they're just some weird smelly teenager.
