Trailmakers is about building very awesome vehicles and machines, but you don’t need an engineering degree to get started. The intuitive builder will get you going in no time. Everything you build is made from physical building blocks. Each block has unique features like shape, weight and functionality. They can be broken off, refitted and used to build something new. Individually the blocks are fairly simple, but combined the possibilities are endless.
Expedition Mode is the challenging campaign mode of Trailmakers. You are competing in an off-world rally expedition with only a few building blocks to get you started. You must build, tinker with and rebuild your machine to progress. Journey through a big world, overcome deep gorges, angry wildlife and dangerous weather to progress and find new parts that will juice up your machine. The world in Expedition Mode will test your survival skills and ingenuity.
Sandbox Mode is where you want to head for an unrestricted, sandbox, vehicle-building experience. Here you can build anything you can dream of, and play around with it in the world of Trailmakers. It is a great place to test out crazy machines, and experiment with the physics engine. With tons of different blocks, hinges, thrusters and interactive vehicle parts - the skybox is the limit.
Trailmakers is even more fun if you play it with other people. Build cool vehicles and compete in mini-game modes with your friends or other Trailmakers online. Build a helicopter, send it to your friend, and shoot them out of the sky. Put two seats on a tank, and let your friend control the turret. As we get further in Early Access development Expedition Mode will also be adapted to multiplayer.

This could be really interesting if the idea is to build a vehicle as bad as possible so that the other person has to use it.

Idea: Planes with no lift surfaces. Only use wedges as we know from sound barrier videos they have quite strong effect at high speed.
No gyros and quantom rudders for increased difficulty.
Sounds like that would be two boom-n-zoom planes trying to dogfight. Would be interesting.

Day 17: Idea for Trailmakers cooperation challenge: two teams of two people each, you build a vehicle for both teams to use. One person from a team controls one half of the vehicle, and the other person controls the other half. Both people have to be pressing the shoot button to shoot. You make truly amazing content ScrapMan! Please keep your channel alive. 🥺

I thought that was what the rules were going to be: you have to demonstrate that the plane is flyable and then your opponent has to fight in it.
I just had the thought after watching all these dog fights, in real life, people dont play chicken with dog fights because one pass and its out. Your plane might be able to "tank" a round or 2, but you certainly can't, so its all about turn rates, timely usage of air brakes, flaps etc, to get the advantage on your opponent and line up a clean shot without yourself getting shot at all.
I think it would be interesting to see a dog fight more about the tactics with things like that, perhaps by limiting block count to something lower like 75 and using powerful weapons so its about maneuvering to avoid being the first one hit. Rounds would be much faster but that could be fixed with more rounds, and because there will probably just be one plane that has the turn rate advantage that is undeniable, or is so much faster they can get away, etc, perhaps the loser every round could make modifications.

They should try placing weight limits on stuff when they do challenges instead of block limits. Like a maximum weight or even a minimum weight could lend to interesting to things (heavy plane dogfight)
I think making a small profile will still be a lot better, the arrows might still be red, but 12 red arrows will do a lot better than 60 red arrows

I guess... If Yzuei had a 75% hit-rate from each engagement, while ScrapMan only had 50%, but a landed shot had a 30% chance of disabling Yzuei, compared to ScrapMan's 20%... It would all line up. Those both add up to each of them having the same 15% chance of disabling each other.
Those numbers are completely made up, but I think they serve to represent what was happening.
ScrapMan gained the advantage in more direct encounters. By taking a more head-on approach, he would effectively guarantee Yzuei a shot on him, but would similarly be granted a clear shot at Yzuei. For Scrap, with only a 50% regular hit-rate, boosting it to a guaranteed hit is a much greater increase for him than it is for Yzuei.
With accuracy/evasion no longer a real factor, he gains the upper-hand via his craft's resilience. It more or less comes down to the 20% vs 30%, which works out in his favor.
Inversely, Yzuei benefitted from the opposite approach. He was better-off with indirect engagements. Making use of his agility, he could attack from blind spots. By forcing unorthodox approach angles, preventing both parties from targeting vital parts, he could mitigate the danger of having a flimsier vehicle. In this setting, his chance of landing a hit at all, even a minor one, gives him the advantage.
This also relates to Scrap's increased performance with stronger weapons. A direct pass, with a direct hit, became more decisive with higher damage weapons. Yzuei was better-suited to the weaker but faster-firing weapons, which he could fire at any time from various positions.

I thought something was off with this... it took me a while to realize that Scrap went full brick build without wedges.
I feel like a cool experiment would be to try to develop a fly-by-wire system where you have a bunch of speed sensors facing in different directions so that the plane by default flys completely straight without touching the controls, and when you do touch the controls the plane is super manoeuvrable and turns basically on a dime.
Simmilar to how real fly by wire systems work the plane would probably be really unstable is that you need the fly by wire to actually fly straight

Remember the Olympics you used to do in scrap mechanic?
I feel like you've created enough objects (heaviest block, dynamite block, etc etc) that you could get a team together and have a one build for them all challenge. Especially if fellow players (Professor/Yzuei/Whoever else you want) have some interesting challenge ideas for them as well. Could use World objects too similar to picking up exploding barrels that you've done before and the Loop.
Could try with all different variants for different challenges. Land/Sea Time Trials/Competitive Races, lots of possibilities with the Olympic idea and the timing fits so cash in?
To further this idea, I've got some sample events:
Heaviest Block = Tractor Pull using an actual Tractor Beam. See how far you can move it and IF you can move it how quickly can you do it?
Dynamite Slalom Race = Make a small course laced with dynamite that you have to beat everyone's time. Blowing up = DNF (Would be a great antithesis to the Heaviest Block, as now you'd be after maneuverability instead of a straight line.)
The Loop = Nothing about the previous challenges should in theory require enough speed to get through the loop. Having this challenge here should ensure everyone goes at least so fast if they want to complete it.
All kinds of ideas like that, don't want to write a million words for no one to read it lol.
since you are already doing plane challenges you should try to make a plane that can fly itself and do tricks with no human control

Idk if you've done this yet but can you eventually do 3 worst fight jets vs 1 over the top fighter jet (the worst fighter jets have infinite lives )

I’d love to see a battle where if you go either too fast or too slow you explode, so you really need to watch how you dive and climb to not lose too much speed

I like the idea of making bad vehicles. My twist is making them then swapping them, so you build something for your opponent. I would have more strict building rules like it has to have certain parts on it and has to be controllable.

How about a melee dogfight? It would require some interesting planes, and could be tried again when the update is done.
Scrap should put his guns on a sevo that rotates 180 with a button press. Then he can flip guns backwards after passing.

When I read the title I somehow expected something else. I did like the video here.
Now that I thought about it maybe it is an idea for a future video. You build the plane for the other player with a few restrictions: Doesnt shoot itself, needs to be able to reach a minimal velocity and maybe a few other things the plane needs to be able to do, so it doesnt crash itself. Functional plane yes, but still as bad as possible to "easily" beat it.

you can try a challenge were you have to build any kind of vehicle but every block have only up to x amount attachment spots, for example if u have a 1by1by1 block then u can only attach to other blocks to it on 3 faces , the same apply to every other block on/in the vehicle
"Robot" Melee fight. Then, when the collision update comes out, you can revisit it, and see the differences!

Is it possible to use a weight block on a piston (or something like this) to change a vehicles center of mass in order to throw off the auto aiming lock? Probably not explaining it right but perhapski you know what i mean

20:12 time stamp, New Vehicle type ideas, Flying boat battle and sea skimmer batter, flying boat is kind of self explanatory but for inspiration look at history and animated films for a idea, now for the sea skimmer think like the Avatar(Blue people) sequel movie where the ride the "fly fish" creatures that skim the water whilst also flying through the air, the idea is to build small nimble skimmers and you can even add waves so you can glide from different heights battling each other, I think doing a lot of Fantasy type fights would be fun, ranging from star wars space flights and planetary vehicles to the most out there fantasy vehicles like in transformers and dune, there is still a lot of different concepts to be explored! :D
Possible idea: Build Planes that look and function like Planes, except they fly Backwards, kinda like that long ago hilarious infamous Skyrim "Backwards Flying Dragon" Bug! :D (Canard Designs would sadly have to be Banned for OPness...)

suggestion: a dog fight 2v2 one person flies one person shoots and to make it more fun the gun cant target and the gunner or both are in first person

A gamemode where you can choose the weapon you are using per round but every weapon only once could be interesting.
Also making vehicles without wings and rudders like the one in a old video.

a video idea: Try and make the actual worst plane and then the other people use it, you must go through flying with your own plane to make sure it stays in the air. Put minimum counts on different things as necessary.
How about bad hydrodynamics? (Boats & subs)

You should try to not force the head on in your dogfights as you tend to place your important pieces in the front and it exposes your wings

You should have a dogfight where both vehicles must be capable of breaking the sound barrier.
You guys should do an automated trick plane challenge where as you fly it, it will automatically do tricks like flips or barrel rolls. It would probably be more fun with 3 or 4 people, with one being the judge. (Ideas: do 2 rounds of a specific trick, then 2 rounds of a trick of each player’s choice.) (extra: try doing 3 tricks in a row 3of different types!)

Build a mash up of 2 vehicles from your favorite IP's and fight. Land or air. For example you could mate the Winnebago from Spaceballs with Star Trek Enterprise.

You guys should do a sniper duel challenge standing from the furthest points possible on the map and using artillery or rockets or something like that. Turn-based.

I suggest a tower defense challenge where each of you build a "base" with your seat somewhere inside that you have to protect with different guns in different places in the base, and each of you build a vehicle to infiltrate the base. I'd imagine it would be required to use anchor pins under the base and a certain power core limit for the base, maybe increasing the power core limit each round if you want playing as the base if it seems to easy to defeat the base. ofc the infiltrator has infinite respawns, outside the base obviously, and the base has no respawn. Goal: Longest time survived as the base.

next time you for a 4 player match you should swap builds randomly at the start (with a chance to get own), and maybe swap every round as a well (loser rolls first)
