The full-scale ASW 28 is a Standard Class glider with a fifteen-metre span built of modern fibre reinforced composites. The manufacturer of the ASW-28 is Alexander Schleicher GmbH & Co. The 'W' indicates this is a design of the influential and prolific German designer Gerhard Waibel. Serial production started in 2000.
As all Standard Class sailplanes, the ASW-28 does not have flaps or other lift-enhancing devices. It has tall winglets, a retractable undercarriage and a water ballast system. The structure is a complex composite of carbon, aramid and polyethylene fiber reinforced plastic. This permits a light structure with the strength to carry large amounts of water ballast, thus permitting the widest possible range of wing loadings for weak and strong soaring weather.
Our ASW 28 is a sport scale model that does incorporate flaps unlike its full-scale counterpart. It comes plug and fly so you just need to complete some final assembly, install your battery, receiver and fly. The airframe is a mix of EPO foam for the wings and tail, with a blow molded plastic fuselage. This gives a slick finish that is also extremely durable. Great for those less than perfect slope sites. A powerful 4018-850kv brushless outrunner motor rockets the ASW 28 to altitude, then when you throttle down, the propeller folds back for extended soaring. Accessing the battery is easy through the canopy with four small snap locks that keeps the canopy secure.
This Version 2 comes with lots of extra features. The wings come with two spars in each wing to give extra strength during those tight turns and power dives. Installing the wings is now easier with a plastic latch for securing the wings. Inside there is now a bigger plywood tray to make it easier to carry FPV camera's, VTx's or other electronics. Landings are now a lot easier with the inclusion of landing gear. No more scraping the fuselage.

Hello again!, I also have an ASW28. I fly mine on a 1300 4s. I take it to the coast and get over an hour flight on one pack soaring the beach dunes. I added an all in one fpv camera on top of the T-tail and that gives it an amazing view in the air. That canopy will get taped on at some point, the white pins will fall off and get lost...

Ok Boss, I am going to order one. Back in the 1990's I flew a Hirobo Shuttle Helicopter. In 2000 I had a spinal cord injury and stopped flying. I thought I would try flying again. So I have started working on the heli's to get them flight worthy and it can get pretty expensive. Anyway I have been watching lots of videos. I found you guys a few weeks ago, and now I mostly just watch you two, very entertaining and informative. Now I want to fly planes. I like the war-birds. I have built a corsair form foam board and fiber-glassed it . Before I crash it I will get this sailplane and get some skills. So thank you so much for making this hobby very exciting. Keep doing what your doing. Love you guys!

I love the paint scheme it looks fantastic against the backdrop of that crystal clear blue sky. Its also "sods law" that on the day you fly the glider there is little or no wind! But it still flew great. Nice piloting and great camera work. This channel is pure "Gold" in every way.

I used 2 2S 1500mah batteries in series. It needs 4s to fly with any authority, the screech sounds from the motor is due too the ESC timing being set to "low" it needs high. The stock ESC has no instructions on how to change the timing. I wrote the company on how to program the stock ESC but they have not replied. I just used another 40 amp ESC that I can program and have no problems now. The two batteries are place in different locations, one is in the normal location the second is on the spar at the top on fuselage. Great plane....

That plane flew right out of your hands like a bird, and the colors look very nice in the sky. You make every plane look easy because you know how to set up the plane the right way, thats the key to a good flight, I have great success with helicopters but not as much with planes, Great Flight...!!!

That was great Robert and Blaz, On my glider i installed spoilers on top of the wing so it would land on a shorter field. Nice video Robert.
