These DIY bed swing instructions are easy for a beginner to follow along and build this for yourself. A detailed video with dimensions and instructions on how to easily DIY build this bed swing. This porch bed swing holds a twin size mattress. This is a fairly simple DIY project that only requires a handful of tools. If you need any instructions beyond the video, please leave me a comment. A porch bed swing can be a great way to relax on a spring day!

It’s built!! I changed my dimensions to 24”x96” because I did not have the width available in my space and needed to have the length due to where the hanging joists are. Would love to send you pics if you’d like to see them. This is the most complex woodworking project I have done and I am super proud of it. Thanks for the video!!

Took me many years to gather up all my tools and I’m still missing a lot! I still feel the pain of not having everything you need even 10 years later…haha

Great video! Thank you for posting with such detail. Can you help me with a few questions. Can I get a materials cost estimate. About how much does the bed weigh when complete. Thank you for your time!

I was watched the video and the side trim is short at 36 3/4. Needs to be 39 3/4. Have to go back for another board. I double checked the video and you said it twice at 36 3/4. Might need to edit that part. It is a good video.

Be nice if we could edit a video after it’s posted but that’s not possible. Sorry

Any chance you have a list of what I need to buy to build this?? This will be my first project ever!!

Haven’t built one in a long time but there’s plenty of TH-cam videos on how to build these. You should be able to make a list from watching my build video.

If you pause the video at each section he gives the dimensions as he goes.

Great video! What did you use to hang it? I've looked at the eye hold screws but they seem like they could be too weak if you get a couple of people on there.

I use i bolts. Long as they are in the joists they will hold. Two on each side

@yellowhammerwoodcrafts thanks for the lesson. What kind of chain do I use? What hardware do I use to attach the chain to the bed and where does it attach on the bed...it wasn't mentioned.

    • @fdort3971

@yellowhammerwoodcrafts I went through again...the only way I can think of to attach chain is a heavy duty eye bolt on all 4 corners of the inside of the frame to bypass the arms but that puts them in the way of the mattress and the people...if I put them through the arm rest and attach them to the outside of the frame it ruins the look of the arm rest...I don't think the arm rest would last long with chain running through it...
The chain can easily attach in back but it the chain in front I can't figure out. The front plate is long enough to hide end of the chain but that only gives end grain from the 2x4 to screw into...
      Help please

I don’t mention because there’s so many options. I use heavy duty eye bolts and rope. Put the rope through the arm rests. Or you can put beams under the whole swing and make them stick out enough to bypass the arms

Are the back slats 1x3 or 1x4? You didn’t say in video
