Logical & helpful. But you say almost nothing about bike gears. True, most casual bikers have no understanding of gears, don't want to learn, just want the push button and have a motor bike ride. But just as logically as you presented this "assist level" info, hopefully you can clarify something about what gear to be in for that big hill and how the assist level and battery drain are affected by the gear choice (assuming that the rider wants to contribute any energy to the hill climb). Thanks.
Thank you! I just got my e-bike from a subs company here in NZ and I'm loving it. For a big girl, I wasn't made aware that weight plays an important factor when trying to navigate the flat or hilly roads so explanation on the pedal assist helped a lot.
For me, its simple: if im cold i use eco or none, if im hot i go tour or emtb to go faster and cool down. My battery and engine are monsters, 210km on eco on flat surface.
My electric bike has a 48V 13ah, and 48V 21ah extended range battery. Now, using these batteries ( especially the 48V 21ah extended range ) this can go from 50km to 90km in miles. If I want to get the most out of my 48V 21ah extended range battery by reaching the 90km limit. What can I do to get the 90km when I'm riding ?
I am trying to figure out this geared pedal assist on my E-bike. I have an SW 900 display which has the 5 pedal assist levels; I understand that. What is a mystery to me is the setting at P05: Pedal assist gear mode 0 - 3,5,9 options and the 1 - 3,5,9 options. What the heck is the 0 and what is the 1? I assume that the 3,5,9 may be how many gears it is. But it is a 7-speed Shimano shifter so that seems complicated as well. I also have the pedal assist sensitivity 1-24 which is more motor at the 24 end. Then there is starting intensity 1-5 which I am not sure about, but it seems to be how quickly the assist kicks in as the pedaling starts. The bike is an unknown Chinese brand that does use some name-brand parts.
With max pedal assist level. Is it hard to pedal? I want a throttle but these are illegal here. So I want the closest thing to this. I don’t want to be all sweat getting to work.
I got my e- bike for two months now,I tried in uphill with assist level 2,I noticed in the monitor the motor assist is in full bar then after few minutes the power cut out, then after few minutes again the motor gives power again. Is it normal. Thanks a lot ,I learned much watching your video.
I have an electric bike that uses a throttle, PAS, and a 7 gear shifter. When the motor is not in use, can the bike still get its speed by using the 7 gear shifters to operate as a regular bike ( meaning will I get the same amount of speed as a regular 21 speed bike ) ?
When I come to a stop while using the higher/faster pedal assist feature should I put the assist into a lower number. For example, I have to make a quick stop at an intersection; would stopping completely with the bike in pedal assist five damage anything or should I try to reduce the assist feature coming up to a full stop?
You don't need to reduce it before stopping. But I'd suggest when you start riding again put the pedal assist into a lower number so when you start riding again you aren't jolted by the pedal assist kicking in.

You have some of the most practical thorough information out there. 🙃
Thank you! This is the best explanation I have found on TH-cam yet.
Glad it was helpful!

What gear should you use for pedal assist. Does it make a difference to speed of bike if I am @at the lowest gear and I use pedal assist
Great explanation on pedal assist!
Awesome explanation and advice. Well done. Thank you!

Usually 0 is pedals only no assist from motor 1-5 has assist 5 being the greatest assistance but only in top speed torque will remain the same
I have 1400km on my ebike just from using pedal assists, 2, 3, 4 and 5 mostly. 350w bafang. samsung battery.
With max pedal assist level. Is it hard to pedal? I want a throttle but these are illegal here. So I want the closest thing to this. I don’t want to be all sweat getting to work.
If you are in level 5 it will be very easy to pedal. The level 5 assistance is quite powerful.

Is this a sixthreezero bike? I can't really speak to other brands, but this doesn't sound normal.
When pedaling my Lectric volts reduce after a time when i’m coasting the volts increase this I believe is rebalancing not definite .
I use level 3
So im new to ebikes. Do you need to be in 21st gear and Peddle asst 5 to go top speed fast? 🤔
Yes

Yes
My pas all feel the same from 1-5 but on 5 i get a Higher top speed thats all
Thanks, informative
