    The intensity he packs behind his voice when he reads his own poems is certainly empowering. I do not just hear the poem, I feel it. With my mind, body and soul, the electric energy captured on this tape runs through me like much like electricity.

    Hearing the audience laughter makes me wonder how Ginsberg felt when reading this.

    According to the recent film, it took it's form from "Leaves of Grass"- Whitman. During the trial they used this to say that Ginsberg hadn't added anything to the world of Lit, therefore he had simply turned a classic poem into something obscene, that makes you feel as if you had "been dragged through the gutter."

    @OlesjVBilous It DOES have a structure, it is simply not based on traditional poetic form. It's a long line form that groups "thought clusters". It's a fascinating concept.

    @Yeah999Right I think if you really want to fully grok on Howl, write your own howl.
    Just make sure no one else reads it, cuz then they'll think you're weird and avoid you.

    We need more Ginsberg's less trump and Hillary. Where have all the poets gone. I would even take a Shelly right now or Byron.

    • @Starbuckanear2012
      @Starbuckanear2012 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ginsburg would beat you unconscious for that kind of knee jerk, idiot comparison.
      The only "Trump and Hillary" we needed was the same sort as Napoleon and Wellington. Thank God Arthur Wellesley didn't have to deal with Twitter philosophers.

    Moloch, dread Moloch. Whispers at all the edges of middle-class dreams.
    Moloch, bloodthirsty Moloch, creeps ever closer it seems.
    I saw Moloch in the mirror. Moloch everywhere.
    Gotta start taking those anti-psychotic meds again.

    to explain this most perfect or paradoxically imperfect of all poems to the person who said they could not undefstand it it is a metaphorical poem about all of allens friends troubled lifestyles from his mother with phamphlets of commnist propaganda to ! so its about strengt with our family and friends to bond and fight the fiends of every generation and should be in the bible essential reading(at least the poets bible) if you dont understand it read and read again .

    You overestimate yourself and underestimate this guy. He is now studied in schools. Justin is just like N-Sync and Backstreet boys of my generation. I think I have heard half of one of his songs and was not impressed. I'm much younger than a person who should be interested in Ginsberg, but still am. I barely know who Bieber is...in all honesty, I barely know who he is. Ginsberg has continued to be important to all generations for around 50 years. Bieber, barely known in about 2 years...

  • @punkrockefeller
