It's not that Simmons isn't close or even better IMO, it's that he's not a true rookie. He's had an extra year to learn the playbook, an extra year with the team nutritionist, an extra year practicing with the team, an extra year developing chemistry... all those things matter. I'm sorry Simmons didn't play in his first year because of the injury, but that's life. He isn't a Rookie, and Donovan deserves ROTY because he is the best Rookie that played this year.

He has so much fun when he plays. His confidence allows him to run the offense so smoothly. He plays with a constant rhythm that you can see in his body language and how he pulls up for a jumper .

Like it is a straight fact right now, when really it's just all of your opinions, until the awards are given out at the end of the season. However, I have an opinion, that I believe Donovan Mitchell was the steal of the draft this year. I have some actual, real facts, that should turn my opinion into a straight fact. "Mitchell was drafted by the Denver Nuggetswith the 13th overall pick in the 2017 NBA draft only to be traded to the Utah Jazz for the 24th pick (Tyler Lydon) and Trey Lyles.[15] On July 5, 2017, Mitchell signed a four-year rookie scale contract with the Jazz.[16] On July 11, 2017, Mitchell signed a multi-year shoe deal with Adidas. Has NOTHING to do with that technicality. Mitchell beats Simmons ANYWAYS. Ben Simmons is a rebounder that can pass. He can't shoot, Period. He's a liability at the end of games due to lack of free throw shooting. And people still have the audacity to compare him to LeBron or say he's ROTY over Donovan Mitchell???? I think this is more about market size and the media attention on The Process. Simmons will have a nice career. He will never be the super-star that Donovan Mitchell will be.

2017 draft was good as 2003 a lot of talented and gifted rookies. Mitchell remind me young Wade. I wish him ROTY but i guess Simmons (like Lebron) gonna take it, because of better overall stats: as/pts/reb. Mitchell is natural born scorer with great IQ and athlet. but Simmons impact is bigger i guess. Anyway its great that they both have realy good coaches. Its hard to make such a good team with young players.
