It's definitely hard losing a parent no matter what but it's definitely hard whenever you've spent every day for right at 32 years going on 33 years with that person then being your best friend always having one another's back so I know exactly what you mean and you were definitely in my prayers as well keep your head up Time Heals all wounds it's hard I know but you got to remember all the good times that you have and remember they are forever in your heart with that being said stay safe and stay blessed I hope things get better for you

every time i get to see you guys try out new things it gets me as excited as you guys. I've spent most of my childhood fishing and exploring the waters of Aruba with my uncle and i don't think he ever got the time to teach me everything he knew but he taught me a whole lot and for that ill be forever grateful sadly he passed away 2 years ago and i wasn't there with him because i went to study abroad and I feel like i never got to thank him for all of it cause it happened so suddenly I managed to get my father to take over his boat but it still needs lots a work and I'm only on the island for 1 month a year I've been fixing it up slowly and it just brings me back because me and him rebuilt his boat together 1 summer and no lie it was tough but what an experience. every time i see your vids it just takes me back i mean im only 22 about to 23 but ever since he thought me to swim ive been with him went fishing with him diving snorkeling crazy adventures. last time we got to snorkel together i showed him that I've been practicing freediving and i managed to hold my breath longer than him for the first time and I don't think I've seen him be prouder cause he always told me that i can do it i can be better. every time I see your videos you remind me of him always in a good mood and so generous always willing to give a helping hand. for this, I just want to thank you for making these videos teaching us so much and letting us in on your lives and continue to do so great job god bless you and your family and happy holidays

Absolutely love ice fishing. Grew up in Wisconsin and when winter came around and the ponds and lakes froze that's all we ever did. It truly is a lot of fun.

Rainbow trout with a lemon butter sauce on a bed of jasmine rice! The best! Great vid!
Used to always cook trout whole, salt, pepper, butter in a skillet. Learned two new ways this year. Fillet belly up and then remove skin (optional). Flour, egg wash, and panko with your favorite seasoning, fry in butter. Awsome! Even better brine in salt, sugar, and brown sugar, then smoke.! 👍

Hello Robert I've been watching your videos for a while and I love them and its cool for you to show us how to clean certain fish and how to cook amazing recipes
Ice fishing is one thing I’ve never done. But to be honest I think it would be way to cold for my feet. Came real close to frostbite in Korea when there for 13 months with the Army in 1963-1973. Have much suffering with my feet during winter months with so many fronts coming thru. Exactly what I’m doing up this early (since 4:35am). God Bless and we love y’all!!!

Awesome vid!!! I live in Florida now but used to live in Pennsylvania and spent MANY a days on the ice pulling nice fish thru the holes!!! Always brought a small grill and some deer steaks for a nice lunch!!! Brings back tons of memories!!! Thanks!!

When I was a kid my momma used to dip the trout in dry buttermilk pancake mix and fry it up for breakfast with scrambled eggs and pancakes... I sure miss being 6 yrs old somedays and this video sure sent me back to a time and place I nearly forgot.

@@deermeatfordinner I promise fried trout with pancakes and extra buttery scrambled eggs was one of the best hot meals after an early and very cold morning of fishing in Wyoming. 1985 was the best year of fishing on record.

My wife ordered me the woods and water knife. I've only filleted 7 bluegills and 2 catfish so far but it's absolutely as you've described in your video's. I love it. Hands down the sharpest knife I've ever owned. I just hope I don't screw it up when I eventually have to sharpen it. If it continues to impress me I will definitely be doing more business with silver stag.

Rob, next time you’re up here in Wisconsin you should do a few things for fishing, 1. Get a Neptune Ice Rod. 2. Catch clean cook a Northern and lastly, go fish for for a Musky, but don’t you DARE cook that musky or we might have to ban you from Wisconsin lol

The way I have figured out how to the brown trout I catch is put the flesh down first on low heat then turn it up and flip it so the skin goes on the hot plate last and gives you crunchy skin

I really like this episode I've been trout fishing before but never I fishing...my son and I catch alot of Brooks ,browns and occasionally some rainbows.
In Canada we call that filleting technique "butterfly" we use this method when the fish are small.

I'm a FL guy and love all our seafood. But Rainbow Trout might be my all time favorite.
You Should do some river fly fishing for them, I think they taste fresher coming from clear shallow running water, but maybe that's just me.
