Oh Dibakar, he thinks so well and articulates his thought in a respectful and responsible manner. He speaks his mind and I love him for that. You can see the originality of his thought, he's not possessed by some ideology per say, he thinks for himself from his own intellect. Great man to admire and a rare breed in the mainstream culture.

The difference between Dibakar Banerjee and his contemporaries is that this man reads. And he has always had an eye outside his window.

I've only recently discovered the mind of Dibakar Banerjee, when I stumbled upon an interview on his on Netflix (The Creative Indians, season 2... For those looking for more from him). Now, here I am, searching for as many long-form interviews with him that I can find.
I have to say, it's an absolute pleasure to listen to him talk and walk us through his thoughts.

Caste does not exist , but only for the upper caste. For others like us, it is always present , right from the beginning of our social lives.

It would be good to hear from some good educationist and about the overall education scenario in India as well.

The talk just 5min before 33.01 is so true !
Even as 23yr old student I understand and experience this !

The talk which start 5 min before 33 mins is the best part of the conversation. The starting is wierd but the later conversations are really well thought-out. Watch Joe Swanberg's Easy season 2 episode 1, staring Aubrey Plaza or all the whole series. A necessary refrerence.

strong and angry. justifiably so. very well elucidated. clearly we have a thinking film director in dibakar....well moderated... not that dibakar needed too much prodding.

He is complicating simple things far too much to sound deep. Listen to Shiv Vishwanathan ,harsh mander and Pratap Bhanu Mehta to get better insightful thoughts .

The people you've mentioned are more clear beings but when one wants to know what Dibakar Banerjee, a creative filmmaker thinks, we have to ask him for his perspective.
And things are simple but simple understanding may not help you to see the nuances with which they usually come.
Lastly, he's trying to speak for himself in a informal way. He's not really into taking a stand. He's taking one thing at a time and speaking about it from his eyes.

Why always go for everything simple?

    • @anubhavsharma8816
      @anubhavsharma8816 4 ปีที่แล้ว

@chandan: there are two things here ,
      a) his inability to explain things in a simple manner (b) his conscious choice to make things sound more complex than they actually are so to come across as an intellectual
While you are defending his right to be (a) , I think it's the latter who he is . I hope you get what I am trying to say

It's because great intellect lies in uncomplicating complex ideas and not the other way around. If we are letting ourself get dazzled by one's ability to complicate simple thought purposely then we ought to think (if not worry) about our own understanding of wisdom :)

This guy clearly doesn't know whats happening in Bengal right now. Its just the opposite of what he is saying. I personally would love zero caste or religion in our country but congress is primarily to blame for this, now the soup we are in all parties must come together to wipe this out of the system. which will never happen. regional parties are the one who created this with the help of Congress.
