Would love to see the 4-4-2 I was watching the 06/07 FA cup final last night and the fluidity between the 4 of giggs Rooney cr7 and fletcher was amazing any of them could drop to receive the pass and dragging out a defender where as someone else would make a run in the space left behind always having already 2 players attacking the box for crosses and they showed great chemistry between them
I’ve been watching a lot of 442 UTD too. Way better than most teams play today!
Bruno does really well playing in central midfield. His tenacity to chase after opponents when we lose the ball and his ability to give defence splitting accurate long passes makes good enough for that role. Remember when we brought in Sabitzer in, he n Bruno will swap often to get sabitzer in a more goal scoring no.10 areas while Bruno drop deep, and the executed that very well. So Bruno coming into deeper roles isn't a bad idea to accommodate Zirkzee who I think is a no.10 than a 9 will be a good plan.
He plays quite deep, great player, hopefully the Premier league won't be too tough for him.
Similar to Hojlund 15g/a but maybe something like 8 goals 7 assists but plenty of second assists and chances created

Hey Dave a humble suggestion that "how would he fit" videos are more engaging when you are presenting it while standing with a screen on right as your early videos.
Unpopular opinion, but it seems JZ has been signed to bench Hojlund. It makes footballing sense as we have more wide players who look to score rather than supply the front man, and JZ is more drop deep and create than receive and score.
Either way, we now have 2 types of strikers for different systems!
If Sancho is available for selection again, him and Amad are the exact type of wingers Hojlund needs to score more. Garnacho and Rashford are made for a striker of Zirkzee's caliber.

If we want to compete in numerous competitions, we need defensive cover and Yoro will develop faster learning from Licha and De Ligt like how De Ligt understudied Bonucci and Chiellini in Juventus. If we cannot sign a quality CDM, Yoro will be able to slot into central defence and allow Martinez to move up to CDM.
What about ZIrkzee as a wide target man/playmaker? Similar to that Tadic/Haller link at Ajax? EIther way I do think we'll see Zirkzee and Hojlund playing together quite a bit. Especially considering the Ivan Toney links
I think we might get Ivan Toney as Hojlund is still raw in the PL. I would play Hojlund on the right wing where he was effective for Atalanta, Rashford on the left and Ivan Toney upfront to dominate the penalty area supported by Zirkzee as a Number 10.
I'm still very worried about our attacking options. We are living on wing and a prayer that players come of age this season. Question marks all over that front line but it's still exciting.

The signing signals to me a potential return to the SAF classic 4411. Or even a preference of EtH a 442 with a narrow diamond in the midfield.
On the 4411 I could definitely see Zirkzee and Houjlund playing together and linking up. It would mean that Bruno would have to play a little deeper, but I think he and Kobbie could be a good partnership as long as United sign some support in the CB position. Yoro and De Ligt would be good moves for that as well.
On the 442, like I said you could play it two different ways on games that you need width you play a traditional and play rashy and garna or amad to provide width, and if you need to control the midfield bring in Mount and and Scott or Amad even as he has played plenty as an inside attacking mid.
Truly though, I dont imagine Zirkzee and Houjlund will end up playing together much. There isnt a ton of depth in the striker position so I dont know how much you want to risk injuring your only two major options. I imagine they will rotate and provide different options.

With Zirkzee we could actually implement the styleof play ETH's last ajax team played. It would be fast fluid attacking football, battering team and controlling the games

Dave one idea that nobody seems to be talking about is using Hojlund in a that no 10 role behind Zirkzee. You know Zirkzee dropping deep and Hujlund running past him into the box. I think this will brilliant. And also from build up having Hujlund who is a big man in the midfield will be helping in terms of going long. Off the ball I think his presence in the midfield will also be really valuable. What’s your take on this? Please give me reply

Zirkzee simply substitute for Rashford Martial. DeLigt for Lindelof Varane. Yoro for Maguire. Ugarte for Amrabat Vandebeek possibly Casemiro. And if we manage to get Simons loan for Greenwood Sancho. That is all.
I like the idea of the back 3, but i dont think united will sign the Branthwaite. But i think they could use either shaw or scott as cb.

My issue with this is why can't Fernandes do the dropping back into the false 9 and collecting the ball, this is asking a striker to play as CAM and the CAM asking to be a Flase 9

There are still more questions than answers with this United squad. Where does Mason Mount fit in ? Should United sell Bruno and move towards having a two man central midfield that is more about being more defensively aware and holding their position. Feeding our wide players and attackers. Moving away from inverted wingers would also be my progression to the way we attack. Antony and Amad on the left, Garnacho and Pellistri on the right. Sell Rashford to PSG or do a deal with them for Ugarte and enough cash to sign Amrabat permanently. Would sort our CDM.

You know who will enjoy this style of play? Rashford for sure and maybe Anothy?
He drops down to receive rhe pass the plays it off to rashford who will be running from behind or distribute it to the right id Anothy is at the righr place to do his one and only trick.

Rashford has to go though. In this system, Ten Hag wants intelligent players to adapt and create wherever they are. If Zirkzee and Fernandes are the glue of an attack, Rashford is the opposite. He's heads down and always shooting and only passing when he can't shoot or dribble pass. There's are reason why people say his middle name is "can't pass". Let's not forget he can't press either. He's the opposite of Total Football of Dutch/Cruyff mindset.
If we are relying on both Shaw and Dalot for wide creativity next season. We are in trouble. They don't create enough. They don't deliver enough crosses. They don't get enough assists. The stats back that up. That's why signing Alfie Doughty would be a key signing. Debut season in the Prem for a struggling team and he still easily eclipses Shaw and Dalot's numbers for any of their seasons. Even defensively he's not far off them stats wise and he plays as a attacking wing-back.
Taking Mainoo out for Zirkzee and/or Hojlumd is hilarious!

De Light- why have Juventus and Bayern Munich let him leave is my concern. Leny Yorro- Is young and prefers Real Madrid over United.

he doesn't, Mount was brought last year to play a quick counter-attack style of play but he was injured all the time and and the style was atrocious , he will be likely a bench player
He will play on the bench.
Mount will forever struggle whilst Bruno Fernandes is at Man Utd. Mount can play a variety of positions but his best position is taken up by Manchester United's best player.

I'm with the optimism but 25 g/a is crazy, respectfully. There's no way. He's a great addition but he's still raw and there's just no way he can do that in his debut season. 15 g/a is generous but realistically, between 15 and 10 and he'd have more assists than goals, based on his current stats. You simply cannot predict a guy who hasn't scored many goals in his career as a young player will provide 25 g/a in his debut season in the prem in this day and age. That's peak delusion. If he does it though or exceeds 25 g/a, by all means you call me out. I am more than happy to be proven wrong.
