  • Estella Chung's 2013 book, "Living Artfully: At Home with Marjorie Merriweather Post," inspired the exhibition of the same name band the refurbishment of the staff dining room. Now playing in this newly opened interior space, this video gives an overview of the three properties Post called home in the 1950s and 1960s.

Hard to read with such a light background especially the chartreuse ones ... on my phone those are almost illegible ... the blue ones are not so bad but basically I could not read almost two-thirds of this

I’m fascinated by Marjorie. From Post cereal to General Foods. I would love to see photos of her New York penthouse. I don’t know if any exist. Very sad to see how her niece Barbra Hutton was used by so many people while Marjorie a great philanthropist and I’m guessing a great person to work for would never accept fools or hangers on. When you compare her wealth to the likes of Bill gates and Jeff Bezos today I guess she would be considered poor.

@@amerithaiphx My gosh so nice to get a reply. I do have an obsession with wealth. Please don’t think I’m nuts but I have a gut feeling it’s from a past life. That aside I become distressed when so many wealthy and successful people seem to end up totally miserable.
General Foods and Birds Eye continue on and I have no idea what other brands general foods hold. I’m guessing the money goes towards the upkeep of her Washington estate and her heirs. I remember reading about their yacht Sea Cloud? which was delivered in the Atlantic during the depression so to not cause bad publicity. During her time in Russia she was able to obtain so many precious items. I did find a floor plan of her New York apartment and it was amazing. I believe the building is still there with the spaces being divided into smaller apartments, although this could now be inaccurate. I will never understand the pain of Barbra Hutton who was very generous to people but she had no real friends. Apologies for the rant. Kind regards from London

@@bar10ml44 Hi I'm come from this family so I fully understand about Barbara. I just recently found out about her. Was watching the TV version of poor little rich girl. She took pills pretty much for everything. Kid is being a kid take a pill. I think that was her biggest problem. Maybe she was not good at giving love. She was way too young to become a millionaire.
In the past years is where I am finding more about this family. I always thought we came from money. My attitude ect but would hate money to change me and make me less happy.
Please tell me more about her NY estate.
