    Being up north, Ive been concerned about year round water, but I'm ashamed to say I never thought of putting two of those inside the house, and move an outside one to the sunny side when it gags close to freezing. Wow, that could help a lot.
    Your pump is really loud. Is it a piston? Rotary vein pumps are, or should be, much quieter. One day, later on down the road, you could see if there's an old RV at a scrap yard or something, and pull one out. Should just be a gentle hum.

    Do you pre-filter the water before entering the inside tank? I see that you have a first flush diverter, is that enough to protect the pump?

    I’m just wondering what all I would need. I plan to run pex. Have a tankless water heater. A pump. Was just wondering what else would be necessary for a small water system like that.

    Inverter on the water pump to get down to 12v? How is the water pressure? I'm thinking of this exact setup for my off grid cabin.

    • @thesammy532
      @thesammy532  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I use a 110 to 12-volt inverter right at the pump. The water pressure is good just like in an RV when you use the pump.

    Hey the pex manifold. Do you need to have that? I’m in the process of booking up a tankless water heater at our cabin. We have a natural spring. Water come into a tank very similar to yours. All we will be using water is to run to 2 sinks and a shower. Do you think a pex manifold would be necessary for just the 2 sinks and shower?

    • @thesammy532
      @thesammy532  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well, I think they use smaller manifolds. If you have no plans to expand your system you really don't need it. For me, it just made things a lot easier.

    Do you treat the water to keep from going stagnant ?
    And what type of septic do you use ?

    • @thesammy532
      @thesammy532  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I put bleach in the water about every 6 months, half a cup in each tank. The water is used only for showers and to flush the toilet. We also wash dishes with it, but for cooking and drinking, we have bottled water. It's filtered 3 times from the roof, I have never had a problem with it going stagnant. We have a 10,000 septic tank with a regular drain field.

    Hello, I have a quick question, let's say I do have a water tank on the roof of my house and I would like to add a tankless water heater, how do I go about that? The pump is pulling water from the reservoir up to the tank correct, now wheres does the hot water heater gets connected????

    • @thesammy532
      @thesammy532  ปีที่แล้ว

      The pump [ushes it up to a pex manifold which loops to the water heater. It feeds the water to the heater, which sends the hot water back to the pex manifold which supplies the hot water to the faucets.

    how long does the 20 gallon propane last?

    • @thesammy532
      @thesammy532  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's hard to say we are only out here a few days a month, much more in the fall during hunting season. For that, it takes me about a year to go through a tank. If we were out here full time I would upgrade to a bigger tank.

      @@thesammy532 septic tank with leach line ? You could dig a shallow trench 2'-3' fill halfway with gravle lay leach pipe,then cover pipe with remaining gravle. About 25-35ft. That should last a long while. Cover it with plastic tarp so that ground doesn't saturate after rain. Maybe even plant a thirsty tree nearby
