- Trying to save an old garden after years of not caring for it. Using my 1949 Farmall cub and many implements, plow, model 23 A international harvester disc, cultivators to clean up and work the ground.

Grew up on a farm in Tennessee. We lived in a 4 room house. PapPaw and Dad would plow with mules and we kids had to plant and hoe weeds. Brings back a lot of memories. We finally got a tractor in 1972. Raised all of our meat and vegetables. Slaughtered hogs after the first frost. Never had to worry bout fancy things. We were happy with what we had.

I can relate fondly to that up here in Kentucky
I grew up with the Farmall cub. My dad would put me on the Cub when I was 5 years old and I would disk the 20 acres for 4-5 hours. I would ask him where should I go, he would say "everywhere". When it ran out of fuel, he would re-fuel it, and I would drive it everywhere for another 4-5 hours. I had no idea how to stop it, I only knew how to steer it, I loved it.

I had my 6 year old drive my Cub last year, but just for a few minutes. :) 4-5 hours! He would love that!
It upsets me hearing about that train wreck with all the chemicals that is surrounding in the areas and you only being 25 miles from it isn't very far from it. So many people and animals sick. May the Lord protect you.

Im a dog person but I love seeing a good mouser at work . And i love seeing old stuff at work. My dad always told us if the dis and plow is not shining you're not working hard enough.
Very nice! I had a 1957 cub. All manual. Including crank start. No implements though. Also had a 1049 Farmall M. Used it for brush hogging n spreading manure. An hay work.

I have 2 Farmalls; a 100 with several pcs. of 1 pt. equip., an M and a 274 diesel. That worked up nicely too. We're out in the Country here and farm a little. Love your ''pets'' as well. My grandfather mounted a metal clasping ammo box on ours to keep tools, chain and stuff for the implements. He also routed the exhaust out the back on left side with piping like a tailpipe. If you could get the hydraulic lift, you'd appreciate it. We had all the farming and lawn care stuff as well as many inventions/reapplications of his own. One of the sounds in your video that brought back memories was the popping sound made when you hop of the seat. I probably heard that near a million times from backing up to hook something up like our trailer or reel mowers or wrapping chains around a limb pile from a cut tree.
The views from under the tractor plowing the soil were quite satisfying. Simple pleasures!

Nice video I'm up here in Clyde not far from you I do the same thing with a smaller tractor the Allis charmers I just got my first disc in fact I'm going to pick it up in Sunbury Wednesday but it's still a little wet for me I'm gonna be doing my plow the very first time I've garden with the rotor tiller but I finally bought a plow and I don't think it's ever been plow so I'm actions to figure that out have fun

I am worried about my sister with the train issue. She lives in Beaver, PA. Nice tractor. Most of my tractors are John Deere two cylinders but I just bought a 1953 Allis Chalmers B for gardening and running a buzz saw.

Reminds me of working with Grandpa's 1955 Cub.
I don’t know if any one has mentioned this, adding some weight to the racks behind the front gangs will help it cut better adding weight to the rear racks will make a smoother finish. On ours we would add weight to both on fresh plowed ground to break it up faster.
Just watching your video and you said aowmthing about a tool box. I mounted an ammo can under the seat. I can send a picture of it if you would like. I keep all my tools in it and it’s water proof.
I’m from NH and am still worried about the train derailment never here anything about it but we know it’s bad I worry about all the meat, veggies maple products coming out of your area does anyone care from the government NO I hope your soil is ok and your safe

I'm getting into gardening now my great uncle had a 48 fcub sitting in the garage for years its in great shape so I'm looking for videos with ppl using different implements and came across your channel! Subscribed haha..its an orange cub with white grille I'm not sure if it's original it looks like it and I read they mixed yellow with red back during the war because of a red paint shortage.

Grease the disk. All the time .an put weigh on the disk s blocks that work 👍
We always used short pieces of I beam to weigh down the harrow.

Cool video. Ive been looking at getting one of these. Do they make an attachment you can use for brush clearing? I know these dont have a three point or hydraulics. I havent run a tractor for years but i miss it.
Worried about us in the US but especially those in direct area of these “accidents”. Hope your soil stays put on the hill. Maybe next year leave some mower width strips to keep erosion down??????

I have a littke international harvester b250 tractor.
So i want to work an area about as big as yours. So let me get this right. I need a plow, then a disc harrow like you have done. Then do i need a tyne c type cultivator?
Then I need a bedder? How do you plan to make raised bed rows? Seems like I need 3 or 4 attachments? Any advice ? Does this seem correct what im saying?

The Tyne c type cultivators he is using are manufactured by King brand. To make raised bed rows you need disc hillers or a disc bedder

I’m a new follower to your page. I’ve watched your videos, on how to build a traditional log cabin fireplace. My question to you is, do you have any suggestions on, build said fireplace traditionally in ( Alaska ) I’m moving there soon, and before I start construction any advice helps?
The best advice I can give you is to match the mortar to the stone. In Alaska I would say the stone will be much harder, so use a harder mortar mixture.
After you are completed keep it dry. Water proof the stone. It will last forever if it stays dry

Sir. Sounds like you are planning quite the odyssey. I am jealous. I wish you luck. Keep in mind the frigid temps in the North. You will need to heat with a woodburning stove of considerable size in addition to only having a conventional masonry fireplace. Insulate your living quarters to the best of your ability also. Surviving temperatures far below zero degrees F requires much preparation.
Where did you find the attachments as I am having problems finding any!
