Help, My BB is Creaking...or is it?

- Ah, the old "my bottom bracket is creaking", but it's not the BB. What to do?
At BBInfinite we live to stop bottom bracket creaking. A creaking bottom bracket ruins a perfectly nice ride. It's also embarrassing when you are riding with a group and your expensive carbon bicycle is creaking and squeaking like a secondhand Walmart bike. The worst part is that a creaking bottom bracket is telling you that there is extreme inefficiency plaguing your drive train.
Exorcise the creaks with our one-piece design, hub-style bottom brackets. A unitized design prevents the inevitable creaking of multi-piece units. Furthermore, a one-piece design (OPD) maintains perfect bearing alignment for incredible spin and extreme durability.
Become infinitely faster...and quieter...with BBInfinite.

This is very frequently true. it happened to me twice with look keo pedals in two different bikes. Thanks for sharing !
Look Keo and Time iClicks are major creak producers, and great pedals all at the same time. LOL
Flat pedals squeek too! Those bearings can wear out over time. I kept blaming my cranks when it was actually the seatpost the whole time.
The reference to flat pedals in the video is a means to diagnose by elimination. The presumption is that the pedals are new, or at least known good, in order to produce valid results. You are correct that flat pedals can creak, and we'll go further and say ANYTHING can creak. We've had cases of creaky carbon soled shoes. Not the cleats, the shoes themselves creaked at the buckles under torque. It's a mad world.
I always had problems with my bike I bought prebuilt my mechanic wasn't very helpful. When I built my bike from scratch i had to deal with all the problem that came with it, and it made me a better mechanic from the experience, it surely cost me a lot of money on tools though!
Same for me with Speedplay Frog and Crankbrother Candy.
Wow, yes, two great pedal systems that are unfortunately prone to creaking.
@@BBInfinite Yessa…they need accurate greasing maintenance for long durability performances.
Sorry for long comment, i'd be grateful for a helpful response.
I can't remember the exact name of my pedals but they're wellgo magnesium look a bit like dmr v8s, had them on my Specialized Stumpjumper Evo HT(alloy) since I bought it about 11 years ago, done approx 7000 miles, and they don't squeak, never serviced them either 😅, although my bb30 I had replaced last year and the shop upsold me from the original approx £40 bb to approx £140 bb and it has had to be tightened since fitting where as the original was fine for like 9 years, and it's creaking more in year 1 than in the whole 9 years or so of the original, do you think it's likely the Specialized store neglected to clean the threads or put grease or something? (My crankset is Sram X0)
I haven't got the tools or expertise to do all jobs on my bike but I'm really miffed with this squeaking BB I spent loads reviving the bike to as nearly new as I could and this let's it down.
@@bigt43 Yes, squeaking and creaking are impossible to ignore and instantly ruin a ride. My suggestion is that you do not assume it's the BB. These creaks are very tricky. Check this out: www.bbinfinite.com/blogs/news/74410883-kill-that-creak?_pos=1&_sid=d961b8bef&_ss=r
On SRAM 1x my creak when peddling is from rear mech mounting bolt.
Very common. Good catch.
How would you fix squeaking clipless pedals?
wax.
It’s the freaking bottom bracket!
It rarely is the BB. It's usually the rear wheel, freehub, loose cassette lockring, the seat, chainring bolts, or such things. People get fixated on the BB "MUST be the problem" and screw themselves over.
@@BBInfinite The last time for me, it was the chain. I’d degreased it and thought I’d applied enough lube, the squeaking was unbelievable. 😂😂 👍🏼🚵🏻♂️🚵
What is the fix?
The first step is to find out what is making the noise you're trying to get rid of. Be relentless. Test. Don't assume. Then take corrective action. If it was the pedals, rebuild them if possible or replace them if not.
