I love this mother in law. She came in seeming very opinionated, but when she saw the dresses on, she was willing to shift her opinion. That’s the best attitude.

I think she's got one of the best inlaws I've come across on Say Yes to the dress, the MIL and the groom, both were so supportive of what she liked and loved not really caring about the fact if they picked it or not
Mother in law is good at giving critiques without being rude or harsh. I wouldn't be surprised if she has an art related career.
Love everything about this episode. The bride, the fiancé, the in-laws. All perfect and breaking stereotypes elders say like if you are not married young, you will never find anyone suitable. And this girl literally got her royal life

The 1st dress did unfortunately look like a nightgown on her. I agree about the color looking vintage which is lovely. The last dress suited her best given the vintage lace details.

I cringe when I hear a bride refer to her future husband as a mommas boy because in my experience, that can only mean that she will never be the priority in her husband’s eyes because her mother in law will always take precedence

In our culture, mothers are always no. 1, whether your own or mil, it would not be an issue with the bride.
Absolutely because my daughter who is now divorced went through that crap with her now ex family! Only boy, oldest child, wealthy, entitled brat and mommy always came first!

I’ve rarely finished a clip of this show feeling so happy. Mother-in-law was amazing och the bride was never brought to tears or had to second guess herself. The wedding must’ve been great.

Before you compare the stores maybe you should consider which country it is in. Although I am not sure myself.
It's in Malaysia. I don't think we saw enough to make a call on their inventory, on another episode we get to see more gowns.

I've said it before and I will say it again. NO GIFT should include a disclaimer that "If I don't like it, it's a no." That happened to me with clothes, and I told this person to kindly keep their money, and I walked away. Needless to say, they came after me and told me to get what I wanted instead.

But these people (particularly women) who offer to buy a bride her gown under the disclaimer that they'll do it only IF they themselves like the dress are basically trying to I've vicariously through the bride. OR, they are just control freaks and HAVE to control every situation, even those that have nothing to do with them.
@@theraweggfiles Yeah, that's often the case. I think here, they hadn't really thought about it before the question was asked. The way the future MIL checked with her son and future DIL before answering yes makes me think it wasn't really a demand that she like it.

I'm hoping the mother in law won't be interfering in their marriage. It is very controlling, and as the bride is a lovely girl and all she seems to want is to impress her.
I know someone close to me whose mother in law was exactly like this before they got married. She also wanted to be the brides wedding planner, she was butting in when it wasn't her business; law and behold the couple might be heading for divorce because of the mother in law is still meddling.
They had so many issues year one and have only been married 2 years. And yes, he, too, is his mother's boy

I don't necessarily love the comments the consultants are making about money, I understand they prefer not being limited by budget but it doesn't make people with a budget feel good.

Puteri made the the right decision on this dress, it's beautiful and she's so lucky to have a wonderful mother in law and sporting Mum.
If you look back at some of the 1940’s and 50’s dresses and all that era, they are truly jaw dropping. True feature pieces that would stun people. Now, the dresses are ok, but not too many wedding guests really remember what the bride was wearing sadly, as most are average dresses and all quite alike. The seamstresses and designers don’t have the same intricate talent they did back then, plus now the styles are mostly the same, so too much stress to find ‘the one’.. chill. xx
Out of the weddings I've been to, the dress that I remember best was from a wedding around 26 years ago. It stands out because it was navy. And the bride wore a matching top hat! The colour of my dress, 25 years ago, was 'old cream'; a few shades darker than ivory. I'm hoping that the family wedding I attended last month will remain in my memory for just as long. The bride wore dusty pink with lots of flowers.

I wasn’t thrilled about the fiancé being there. I get it that she values his opinion, but I definitely think her coming down the aisle with this gorgeous gown and him seeing it for the first time on her would’ve been a beautiful surprise

I found it funny that the groom didn't want her in lots of bling. Brides are supposed to be the star of the wedding. I do however prefer the gown that she chose.

Seems like she’s getting into a very controlling family. If anything goes wrong, mil can hold it over her head that she paid for the dress. The groom should pay for it if the bride/family can’t afford it..not his mommy.
The royalty system seems to mimic that of the Windsor family. The eldest/highest in the hierarchy has the most say. Elizabeth 2 had to vet Kate and Megan before her grandsons could date and marry them.
Actually in Asian culture and specially Muslims the groom should pay everything and the bride shouldn't pay anything 😁😁
Asians are more family oriented compared to the West, that's why it seems different for westerners.

Accents sound Malaysian of the girl, her mom and the hosts at the least, and dress costs are in Malaysian Ringgit. I am going to go with Malaysia. They have monarchy but Singapore doesn't (anymore).

The Mother In Law seemed like she might be overly pushy and critical but she ended up being so supportive and open to other options besides what she'd envisioned. The whole group was very supportive and sweet.
