in 3 Films, what the F.... is wrong with you ??????????????, i assume you live in lost valley in Alaska, where they maybe , sent you the Post, once , every 5 Years ?????
I traveled to there to Lauterbrunnen Switzerland just to visit Schilthorn / Piz Gloria just because of my fascination for James Bond and the movie OHMSS !
It's way up there. For me it's one notch below Goldfinger, and a notch higher than From Russia with Love. Imho. Bond rocks. I actually enjoy most of them. Lazenby was a solid Bond. Also, for me, Diana Rigg was the Best Bond gal.
@@waynej2608 If Connery did OHMSS it would probably be considered his best. Plus we would have actually got Connery's Bond in snow for the first time. Connery's the only Bond that never saw snow. Even Dalton got 6 minutes in the snow.
Ohmss is without a doubt bonds finest hour! Brilliant adaption of the book, George Lazenby was great as bond and deserves alot more credit than he received, for a retro blast from 1969 this film as it all, forgot the Moore era, Daltons stint was uneventful, brosnans was a travesty die another day is testimony to that, Daniel craig as brought bond back to life, oops and not forgetting grumpy old bastard connery then again let's.
Stayed in Lauterbrunnen in 2001 and snowboarded down from Piz Gloria in thick cloud as a Bond fan. Returned in 2019 with family and enjoyed Bond exhibition and all the local locations from OHMSS with my Bond fan children. Best film in account if story, scenery and music by far.
During my years in Hollywood (1989 til 2005) I met with George couple of time for brunch at the Universal Hilton daily all you can eat brunch. A gentlemen, smart, funny and ..arrogant .. ineed! But George is a great guy!
Ohmss is one of the best Bond-movies imo. I hope to visit the Schilthorn in the near future. Two years ago I was on vacation in Solden (Austria) and had lunch in the Ice-Q restaurant on top of the Gaislachkogl (the Hoffler Klinik in 'Spectre') and visited 007-elements, an exhibition and cinematic installation built inside the summit of the Gaislachkogl Mountain.
Similar to what happened to Thailand when they filmed The Man With the Golden Gun...became James Bond Island and turned what was once an isolated secret into a tourist trap.
At least in winter Schilthorn is not so much of a tourist trap but rather a quiet ski resort....sking for a whole day there by the way only costs half of the price of a non-skiers cable car ticket (but you have to master the very difficult downhill slope that also features in the movie)....
Went to Kansas to see where the movie Picnic was filmed back in the 50s. Lovely little town with small stream and bridge. Kim Novak and William Holden iconic dance scene! Would love to visit Switzerland.
My father. At the time Lt Peter Brittan ex RN flew the helicopters with cameramen in this movie.Johnny Jordan and John Crewdson were dads friends and when John wasnt flying Johnny in the harness under the copter Dad would.Dad worked for Film Flight and also flew on Where Eagles Dare,The Battle Of Britain,When 8 Bells Toll,The Abominable Dr Phibes, and is seen talking to Brian Keith for a few minutes in The McKenzie Break flying a Hyrricane. He was never credited in any film.
On May 13, 1984 I took the cable car up to Piz Gloria. Magnificent all the way. Changed stations at Birg, not closed as in the film? It was Mother's Day and my husband's birthday. He was afraid of heights. Stayed back.
James Bond Island in Phuket is another tourist attraction made known by a James Bond movie - The Man with a Golden Gun. The island is a lot smaller than portrayed in the movie.
One of the best bond films, pity about the special effects. Lazenby would have been so much better in the series that Sir Roger, despite how nice a person he was in real life.
Oh, yes: I've visited Rome and Florence, Italy not only because of my art history classes, but also because they were featured in "Gladiator" and "Hannibal."
(Difficult on set & with producers? George left the role shortly after its release, and the media pressure at the time.) This is what went down - "mostly". You also have to remember the times & era, and what was going on in the industry. The readjustment with Moore, was the natural choice at the time, just like how Craig was during his. It's easy to look back & evaluate these big budget films, but you have to remember that it's all down to how much the studio can recover, and put into the next project, or in this case, film in the series. A side note on George, that he wasn't a career actor at the time, and he had to follow Connery - and the fan/press following. A difficult thing, and surely a factor in him waking off(other than the film not doing well). A lot of other career actors at the time, declined just for that reason. Looking back now after all the hype, pressure & expectations from the time are over, he was quite fine in the role, and there is little to criticise. On a personal note - I prefer my 007 unmarried & a career agent. The ending here was a warning, that anyone he settles down with, would eventually end up a target. You can't save the world and be a secret agent and spy, and live a normal life.
Well, they did follow the book fairly faithfully by having Tracey killed in the end and you can make a case for saying they shouldn't have but I LOVED the film, from the opening credit sequence & powerful score to even the downer ending, because it played it so straight. By the time Roger Moore entered and the films became ridiculous, unfunny comedies. I mean a villain called "Jaws"? But as someone who was really into the series in my younger years (saw all the first films twice) I think that Fleming's last three books were among his best. He knew he had little time left to live and Death haunts those last three novels: "OHMSS" w. his wife dying at the end. "You Only Live Twice" with the story ending that he has amnesia and finally The Man With the Golden Gun" which has a quite different feel from all the preceding books in the series. But the film was plagued with production difficulties from start to finish, but perhaps that shows that you can make a movie that's NOT a joy to film, where everyone on the set hates each other (supposedly "Casablanca" was like that) and still have it become a critical success years later.
Imagine Lazenby had played in 3 or 5 Bond films. He would've been a gigantic star today!
in 3 Films, what the F.... is wrong with you ??????????????, i assume you live in lost valley in Alaska, where they maybe , sent you the Post, once , every 5 Years ?????
Broccoli once stated that had Lazenby honored his 7 film contract he would have been the best remembered of all Bonds.
Watched it this morning and I gotta say it’s the best one by far imo
I traveled to there to Lauterbrunnen Switzerland just to visit Schilthorn / Piz Gloria just because of my fascination for James Bond and the movie OHMSS !
Went there in 1970 just after the film was made..l was totally wrapped up in the movie..best bond theme ever..Lazenby should have made another!
The best Bond movie ever!!!
I went up there with my parents as a kid in’83 and the interior decor was still the same as in the movie , still the best Bond movie for me
O.H.M.S.S is far and away the best Bond movie ever!
It's way up there. For me it's one notch below Goldfinger, and a notch higher than From Russia with Love. Imho. Bond rocks. I actually enjoy most of them. Lazenby was a solid Bond. Also, for me, Diana Rigg was the Best Bond gal.

This movie is the favorite Bond film of filmmaker Christopher Nolan. And it served as inspiration for some part of the plot of "Inception".
I have been to lots of places because they were in movies - and even filmed some of them - but nothing beats the Schilthorn!

I visited all OHMSS movie locations and Schilthorn/Piz Gloria is for sure the most impressive ♡
Beautiful❤
I have to visit this place before I die
Mr George Lazenby is the most handsome of all bond actors, surpassing even the late Mr Sean Connery. The ski chase is very realistic!
One of my favourites. I've never quite known why Lazenby got so panned and I also think Savalas was great. Plus, Diana look so beautiful in it.
Yes l went there as a teen in 1970 the musis and action still get me...lwill prob hve this musis at my funeral haa lv it ❤
i visited lauterbrunne twice in the 1980s on a school trip and visited piz gloria it was brilliant to see it

This was a nice interview.

Portmerion - 12 times. The Prisoner probably the greatest TV serial ever made.
I went here in 2017 because of Bond.
Went to Kansas to see where the movie Picnic was filmed back in the 50s. Lovely little town with small stream and bridge. Kim Novak and William Holden iconic dance scene! Would love to visit Switzerland.

Some great films I grew up with as well.
On May 13, 1984 I took the cable car up to Piz Gloria. Magnificent all the way. Changed stations at Birg, not closed as in the film? It was Mother's Day and my husband's birthday. He was afraid of heights. Stayed back.
Sorry to hear you married a wimp xD
I visited the house used in the movie, a Christmas story, which is in Cleveland Ohio
Yes :)
I think those Huey helicopters may have inspired Francis Ford Coppola for "Apocalypse Now."
Very cool!
Ohmss best 007 movie ❤

I did in 1970 l lv this film..it has everything the music and true to the book lazenby was a fool not to do more but lv him😂
This was a great Bond film. It would have been even better had Connery agreed to be in it.
Nope. He aged a lot in the late 60s.
And Lazenby was a fantastic fighter.
Connery acted lazily, was pudgy and bored in YOLT. Look at how terrible he appeared in DAF.
When I told you "George Lazenby was one-dimensional", that's not what I meant! Lazenby somehow ended up in the kung fu movie Stoner in 1974.
I wish composer John Barry had lived long enough to experience this.
Oh, yes: I've visited Rome and Florence, Italy not only because of my art history classes, but also because they were featured in "Gladiator" and "Hannibal."
Yes I am ftom Brazil and I went to the ROCK stairs in Philadelphia, Katz in NYC ...and other places.
Bond 26? A hint of the next 007 epic after Bond 25!!!!
I believe this is a very serious possibility. Hopefully it will have a solid script!!
To answer the question, I visited the Field of Dreams movie site because of the movie.
👍👍
James Bond Will Return....
But, when. I know Craig finished one, but not released. Damn covid!

1:59 Is that Jenny Hanley ( The Irish girl)
yes
The audiences of the day were used to Sean. Same thing happened to Tim.
Quiero ir ahí .-
Daniel Craig plays a great Bond but OHMSS was the best of them all.....
Alec Baldwin? What was that freak doing at the party??? Must think himself a regular "00&" LOL!!!
Why did Lazenby show up to the film premier in a beard? At least he only did one film! Timothy Dalton should have done more.
Why did Connery appear in the “You Only Live Twice” premiere without a toupee? Hint-he didn’t give a damn anymore than Lazenby.
Shame no Sean Connery.
Connery's Bond never got to see snow :(
