Today is the infamous Kili day of the K2N stage race, and we'll be doing the longest continuous climb we've ever done. That's right, 7,000 feet (2134 meters) over 21 miles (34 km) up the side of Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa's highest peak. And with our teams turning out to be surprisingly well-matched, it's going to be a battle the whole way.

I feel like you should be linking to lo's channel in the description. Just saying.
Mackey is an absolute beast. Just casually passing others on a 7,000’ climb while towing.
Meanwhile, I do a single 500-foot climb and go into respiratory failure 😢😂😂
I was just coming to say this!!!
Incredible!
For sure and then caring both bikes, making it the whole climb in tow without farting on Lo even once and being a constant source of encouragement etc. this guy is the goat of beast.
So glad you guys got good weather! Really cool to see what it's like up there (turns out you can see whats coming!) Also somewhat of a relief that even you guys found it difficult. :)
Yeah, your run of that stage last year couldn't have been any more cursed from a weather standpoint.
I was thinking of the conditions you guys had last year and was wondering of you were watching this. Talk about complete opposites
It was very difficult even without the rain, so don't worry haha
Thank you for doing these incredible adventures we get to enjoy!
Thank you for watching! xoxo
Amazing that you guys kept riding most of that chunder. Wow! What a course.
Incredible!! My hat is off to Lo, lo, through the pain and suffering of that 3 hour climb, pushing your limits, I love your beautiful crazy optimistic but still hilarious sarcasm. That is so my style when I'm in pain, cracking jokes to take mind off of it. Mackey, the bike mule carrying both bikes to save Lo's legs and retain the energy for the decent.
Can I say the brake slide at the end was pretty cool, too!!
The block strategy by Joe and Syd was classic to start.
Syd, just a quad cramp, but I'm good. I'll keep pedaling!!
You 4 are amazing, and what an adventure of a lifetime to tell stories about for years to come.
Just......WoW!!!
Awesome video guys. We love watching. What's the backpack/camera mount that Joe is wearing? We like the nice wide straps.
I believe we were all wearing USWE packs. I think he just had a standard chest mount underneath the pack.
@@sydandmacky Thanks guys. :)
one word "phenomenomenomenomenomenomenal". thanks soooo much for sharing!!!!! 🙂🙂. We can only hope days 3 - 5 make you work hard. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Thank you for watching!! xoxo
I would be interested in a towy, but my 8yo is already dropping me on accents.
Your 8 year old can tow you up the hill.
we need a "Macky Take the Wheel" shirt, with that graphic. So awesome!
lol might have to make it happen
Macky is such a beast 💪🏼
That, looks....brutal! And beautiful at the same time. I loved my time in South Africa the 3 times I've been, but it was before I took up mountain biking. The people are wonderful!
This is just showing me i don't need a E-Bike i just need a Macky and a tow line 😄
😂
Honestly? Goals 😂
15/10 recommend! But be warned there is no stopping and you have to work really hard. I signed up for the sand bagging 😂😂 jokes on me.
@@LoSendquest haha 🤣 you're such a crusher though, absolute hero
go Lo! How impressive that you can keep up with professional athletes. I am not sure I could, even with a tow, at 12,000 feet.
So when are the “Macky Take the Wheel” stickers coming out? I need that for my top tube!
Wow this was crazy, but that guy who ran up with the bottle, WOW!
yeah, he was an absolute legend!
Goodness gracious, Macky is a monster. He should be sponsored by those energy drinks.
Cannot wait to hear Lo’s version of events! Tell her to PRETTY PLEASE post it soon!
Working diligently!!! Playing catch up is hard 🥵
It's going to be worth the wait ;)
I live on the coast in so-cal so elevation is such a beast to me. Shoot I get out of breath walking to the bathroom at the vail rest stop on I 70. YOU GUYS ARE INCREDIBLE.
I've climbed the mountain, the terrain looked very familiar. The Shira plateau is camp two (of five) and you were very close to Shira campsite.
@7:30 With Joe & Syd blocking your way at the end of the countdown, the first 20 mins, what do you think would've happened if you gave some bar to the hip or leg to let you by and stop cock blocking you...? This is the kind of shit an old school BMX racer thinks up lol
I rode in Utah last year and was sucking for air at 7500 ft. 12k? Are you kidding me? Beast mode!
You all 4 are amazing! I don’t have the words to describe how incredible you all are.
@8:30 By that point you kind of figured out their strategy was to cock block you so at that point I applaud Macky for not forcing Joe & Syd's team into the poop pile.
Handlebar mounted Pringles dispenser, anyone?
I was huffing on a climb up a set of stairs at 5000 feet this week. Might need to up the training if I would want to do this :D
ug. that towee thing is embarrassing, almost worse then an eBike. its not a matter of if, but of when, that towee thing gets in your wheel/drivetrain. not a fan of it, but be sure the get that on vid and share.
There are times 10:30 when the camera gives a feel for how steep the road is. I’m gasping for breath
You needed a piece of Velcro on the towie and maybe your bike or shorts to make the pass off between your legs one handed and much easier.
haha that's a thought!
Where are your glasses from? Don't see them on the list.
"Liking" this video is such an understatement - FAAABULOUS!!
Thank you!
Incredible series and video, as always.
What's the deal with the tethering? Thx.
OMG!! That looked sooo brutal. Even the decent was hard. Y'all are tougher than a $2 steak!! Much respect!! Look on the bright side, at least you don't have to do that one again. 😁 Hopefully the next stages will be a lot more fun riding and less climbing. Best of luck and I'll catch ya on the next one. ✌️Out.
You had me hooked at the tow rope tutorial 🤣
That's a incredible effort by all. Its no joke doing 3-4 hours climbing on that terrain. Well done guys!
Thank you! It was a tough one for sure
great video!
Everesting? Kilimanjaro in?
WOW! What an amazing and challenging ride with so many emotions from pain, and crying, to laughter. Thank you for bringing us along on your bike race.
Love to see the team aspect with you guys, I’ve been to Africa twice in that area on safari and i sure wish I’d had the chance to ride my bike while over there. Thanks as always for sharing your adventures you are all amazing !!!
Wow, just wow. And thanks - great inspiration. Three cheers to all the gracious hosts.
You guys KILLED IT! Great job❤💯
Great Team work 💪🚴🚴😎🚴🚴 🏴🏴👌
The upside of riding above 12k is you Always get great views above the treeline
All 4 of these climb efforts are so tough and so cool to watch!!!
Simply amazing and on my bucketlist!
The stuff you guys ride on a fox 34 is incredible to me
You know... for everything we hear in the states about how living in Africa is such a hardship... The locals in this video all appear incredibly happy, gracious, helpful, joyous, respectful and proud to host the race. Sid & Mackie, seems like you gotta try to get ARI to send MUSO a bike. That dude has the legs!!! LOL!!!
Thanks again Sid, Mackie, Lo and Joe.
Life is definitely not easy for many of the people we met during this race, but everyone was incredibly positive, joyous and kind. One of the many things that made this race special. And yes, Musa is a legend!
That’s just looks awesome.
Insane effort by all parties
Well done!!!
Wow, just wow. Good on you all.
Great race so far, Cheers
Are we going to get a chance to buy the snazzy clothes? I need a safari inspired jersey!
Possibly this fall 🤞
Incredible race! I can’t even begin to imagine what it’s like racing that terrain at that altitude…hats off to you all.
Thank you! it was definitely a tough day!
AMAZING!
Fabulous effort by all. Loving this race.
Thank you!
That looks so amazing! You guys are the best!
Thank you!
What bikes did you ride?
Ari Signal Peaks :)
Great work everyone
Thank you!
looks like prime gravel bike riding ;)
right up until the point where it wasn't :)
@@sydandmacky wish you guys had come to South Africa instead, some epic stage races here, not just cape epic. But I’m glad you still chose Africa for an adventure 👌🏼🤙🏼
That big girl is a effing hero.

Am I the only one who find it weird when Macky said to Lo 18:35 : ''Nice Lo nice... yeah!''
