Sorry to burst your enthusiasm, but I'm pretty sure that if you buy those exact items separately it would be $1000 max. And of course, if you buy cheaper (but just as good) brands, you can build this for $500 easy.
Things that this survival kit lacks: A frying pan, bbq grill, a lawn mower, some party balloons, happy birthday banner, and Suzie's favorite strawberry drink.
I love the kit, but for $1700 I would have liked to see a tent or a tarp. At least some kind of shelter! I do like that they put that book in there though!
