Hey, just wanted to add that you don't need Para-Max. I used a Bungee cord I got for two dollars at Harbor Freight. I used 550 paracord for the handle though. Great video!
Thank you so much for explaining how you not melt the ends together, nobody in the videos explains that or replies back how to do it 🙏🏼 I saw this yeti handle. This will be the perfect to make for my dad, Christmas 🎁
After seeing this I canceled my order for one from amazon, thanks for video and for keeping it simple and straight fwd! Inspired :-)
Great, simple instruction I got right the first time. The only adjustment I made was to shorten the paramax before wrapping, otherwise 3' would've been too long for my cup. Thanks for the tutorial!
I read that plastic bottles leach chemicals into the liquids stored in them so I wanted a glass bottle for making tea. I used an old gallon glass bottle that originally contained dill pickles, but when filled with tea it was quite heavy. I used your tutorial to make a nice handle for my jar. Thank you very much for sharing your knowledge!
I just whipped up a couple for me & my husband!! Thanks for the easy to follow tutorial! 👍🏼
This was a much better tutorial than the other one that I watched.
Finally got around to making me one today. It turned out great and I love that I made it myself. Thanks so much!
So here is my review of the DIY. I really like it. It holds my mug very pretty good. The only thing I would recommend is maybe put a rubber band on the bottom of your mug underneath the bottom loop. Mine slips off sometimes. And I have my loops pretty tight.
Just made this. It's great! It was easy and was just the perfect amount of time for a church camp craft. Now I'm on to bracelets!
Thanks for keeping it short and simple. My brain fritzed and I was looking for a quick refresher.
This is awesome are these adjustable at all or is there one that is adjustable with another fashion of knot:? Am looking to get in to making these to go with the wives tumbler business.
Got my order in yesterday. And I'm making mine now.
Thank you! I think this will work perfectly for the x brand cup I bought at Cracker Barrel!
Maintain the exceptional work !! Lovin' it!
Thank you!
Thank you so much. So easy to understand. Can’t wait to try it
Thank you
So easy and simple! Thanks!!!
Glad it helped!
Great video and gag reel!!!!
Can you use 550 in place the para-max?
How would I measure for 64 oz water bottle for the paramax
Thank you!
Excellent! Always wonder how that it done!
How that is done! Can't type!
do you have the black max one in an elastic it gives a nice little stretch and tighness to slipping over yeti.
Great video! Thank you.
Thanks. Simple
How much do you cut of the 550 Paracord? I know 3FT of Paramax cord. Thank you
This is really nice. I have that Walmart one. You are right; those cups don't all measure the same. My other big cup like this (I think it is Simple Human brand) has a little bit larger diameter on the bottom. It is too large for the cup holder in my car. The Walmart one fits just fine though and that is why I have two of these big cups. The lids are interchangeable.
Having a handle on one of these things means I will actually use it. Otherwise it is too difficult to pick up with one hand. Now there are two things I want to make using Paracord. I started down this TH-cam rabbit hole looking for bracelet ideas. So I think I now need Paracord! I must get some.
I still am not understanding how that handle works though. What keeps it rigid and secure enough so it doesn't bend up and the cup dangle lower from its weight when you lift it? I can see how all the weaving makes the Paracord handle so strong and fairly rigid, but I don't get how there is no movement at the stress points where the Paracord and bungee cords meet. Could you please clarify this for me?
Glad you liked it! For this project, we actually did NOT use bungee cord, but that may work as well. We used "para-max" which is like paracord, but with a larger diameter. Around that, we weaved ordinary 550 paracord. The big loops friction fit over the cup. If you are worried about rigidity, you can make the woven handle part shorter for a less flexible handle.
@@ParacordPlanet Ah, okay. I can understand that working. Gotta learn the right supply words. Thanks for clarifying.
Hey..does the paramax stretch any? Like even just a tiny bit? My friends had one of these that I saw today and I wonder if its the same rope that they had around the drink. Great vid...I wanna try. Thanks!
Is this removable from the cup for washing?
Awesome! Love the gag reels.
how many feet of paracord do you need to make one
1 yd. of the Paramax and 20ft of 550 paracord.
For my coffee travel cup, I used 2.5 feet of para max rather than 3 feet. Be willing to experiment on the length of para max for your individual cup.
Awesome!
Question : how are you finishing the handles? when you're done with the knotting.. are you just melting the ends? doing an extra knot?
Yes, when finishing with the 550 cord, just melt the ends and flatten them against your project with the side of your scissors or lighter.
I’m looking to make one for a 20 oz yeti. The 30oz is what is used in the video and has that lip in the middle of the tumbler. Would this design work on the 20oz?
I am making one right now for a 20 oz Yeti that has no lip in the middle. Seems like it's going to work.
I have a 20oz yeti tumbler. It doesnt expand as much at the top as the 30 that you show in the video. Would you go slightly shorter with the paramax? Maybe 30 inches?
Yeah, shortening the handle just a little would be a good idea. 2-4 inches less should do the trick.
Amazing!
❤
Is that 550 paracord color - chill?
Yes it is! www.paracordplanet.com/chill-550-paracord/
How do you make the handle so it's not limp, I made one today and it isn't strong
So this tutorial uses "para-max" cord, which is pretty stiff. On top of that, we weave a "cobra" or "Solomon Bar", then we weave the same thing over the top again. If you are doing all this and it still turns out limp, make sure your first layer of cobra weave is really tight. Every time you make a knot, slide it upwards, toward your completed knots. Hope that helps!
@@ParacordPlanet ok thanks I used polyester because I don't have panamax, do you think that's the deal?
Don't forget the boiling water dunk to shrink it up and if you really goof too long of loop consider a ranger bead to take up space.
That was way less complicated than I thought!
FYI don’t use bunge cord in place of the Paramax you will have a “limp” handle. 😠
I’m in the process of “un-weaving”!
dx
AWSOME
Do I have to use the paramax or can I just use regular 550
You could definitely use 550, but it may stretch more and not fit as tight. The para-max cord has less stretch and grips better. Other synthetic fiber ropes would also likely work in place of para-max.
How much would something like this go for?
A number of people sell them on Etsy. You can compare prices there.
@@ParacordPlanet thanks
How much of the para max would u need to make a handle for a 20oz?
It would vary depending on the shape of the mug but you should be safe with 5 ft. It would likely be similar to the 3 ft. we used in the video.
King Cobra weave? I have honestly never heard anyone call a square knot that. Why are you re-inventing the wheel?
Thanks for your comment! In the world of paracord, "cobra weave" is the most common name for the square knot or Solomon bar knotting method. You are not alone in your frustration. We've actually been trying to dig into the reason behind the renaming of this knot. Stay tuned!
