As a tank player, I think playing with a good Lifeweaver will be a huge boon to your ability to be aggressive. Imagine being able to run in as Ram/Rein, build a bunch of ult, then just call for your Lifeweaver to pull you out.
@@joto5459 no that shouldn't be it. Or a least something like it but not exact. Cuz in the gameplay trailer they save a teammate from falling over the edge and that wouldn't happen if he wasn't by the edge with LOS. Also imagine the rollouts and returns possible if you find the perfect spots to peak by the edges of maps.
That's actually potentially genius, not only for trolling, but also in the event of Lifeweaver making a bad call when the target is "too far into the enemy line" but is actually steamrolling, say around a corner or in a small room, that they literally wouldn't be able to see.
The thing I’m afraid of is that this character seems to be a huge potential detriment to your team if they aren’t smart with their abilities. If you have a mercy dying on cooldown, it’s a 4v5 but still a winnable fight. But if your lifeweaver pulls a reinhardt about to hit a shatter, or throws a flower lift that messes up death blossom or something, you’ve lost your win condition on accident. This seems like a character where your mistakes punish not only you, but your entire team
i dont see a problem with this, the last thing i want is a brainless healbot that doesnt have to think while you play your heart out trying to dive a backline. If he has the potential to throw games that sucks for the people that suck at him, but do we really wanna downplay ythat creativity in favor of someone who is more consistent and reliable? just makes the game boring imo.
@@sortofcephalopod8972 Creativity is good as long as it's beneficial to your team. The pull ability has more ways to be a detriment to your team than not. Do you think Mei using ice wall to block a friendly ult is creative too?
Thank god. I am so sick of healing powercreep slowing the game to a crawl. I am glad they finally released a support with lower healing numbers because we haven't had a new one since Lucio and Zen in the OW1 beta.
@@destroyerofworlds4663 Over 100 hp/s plus suzu healing/immortality would've made her the highest healing hero by FAR at the start of OW1. Back then only Ana (who was released at the start of season 2) had high healing and that was balanced by her being vulnerable to dives. These days there are three supports (Bap, Brig, and Kiriko) who act as 'play-unmakers' and it's boring as hell.
first video i have ever seen from u but the first 10 seconds of you speaking was so serene and calming i am now following thank u for ur safe vibes king
My first thoughts about him upon watching his trailer was that either there's gonna be a good Lifeweaver on your team pulling you and saving you from sticky situations or there's gonna be a bad troll on your team
same i was like i gona insta lock him and not let my teamate be him (likes to play support my friends dont like it they only like it when it is like mythic skin to one)
with regards to the life grip, i think a decent way to try and give the friendly players more control about if they get pulled or not would be to make it so if they crouch whilst being pulled they escape the grab. this way the trolling could be avoided and also give people a chance to deny the grab if you're making a play like you said.
I like that. Alternatively, maybe the pull would be better if, after Lifeweaver targets a teammate, said targeted teammate has to press Interact to fully engage the ability.
@@benskid469 that can cause a player who's more busy running for their life to not think of pressing the interact key. Being able to crouch or jump cancel out of the pull is the best solution.
@@Nachtiu2 on the other hand, if your lifeweaver is flanking and your teammate (let’s say reaper) missed death blossom. Life weaver can move the ulting reaper into a group of enemies making sure that reaper is getting value out of ult + invulnerability
I think they should make his left click healing AOE. Like when the flower lands on a teammate, it also releases a small burst of AOE healing that can heal nearby teammates
@@donnieorton958 What he said and plus, Baptiste’s doesn’t lock on and it doesn’t get diminishing returns either, it’s 70 on direct hit and 50 on the AOE, his idea was sum like 65 on hit, 40 aoe for people within 5 meters, and 20 aoe within 10 meters
I think he’s going to be a support more for damage and positioning with his amazing positioning skills with life grip and petal platform plays rather than direct healing. Plus quickly building up ult could be very helpful for healing your team
@@linksora7120 true but maybe if they made it be able to hit nearby teammates too? Maybe that'd help healing a little but we obviously don't want him to have baptiste-like healing with all the other stuff he has lol
@@deadhelix it will probably work. People make it work with Mercy/Zen (even before she got the crit heal buff and just healed her dinky amount consistently). If anything, this will probably be even more of a nuisance.
Life grip is going to be a VERY dividing ability. I could absolutely see the devs having to backpetal (heh) on this ability in the future or nerf/rework it over and over. Super excited to see Lifeweaver regardless!!!
Maybe make it a bubble that lasts for 4 seconds that goes on a teammate and doesn’t do anything until the teammate accepts the grip with the interact button .
You should be able to cancel the pull with your interact key. As the person being pulled, you should be able to just hit interact and cancel it yourself so that if you don’t want to be pulled your not pulled however, you still have the option of getting moved the full duration.
I was thinking along the same lines with being able to "break" the pull by moving in an opposing direction after an initial 0.5-0.75 secs (to mitigate against accidental breaks). Interact key is much better though, as it allows for more agency for the pulled player, without accidental direction spam breaking the pull, and therefore not having to create an in-build friendly-fire "stun" timer. tldr; nice idea!
@@Business_Memo Nah. One of the main points of the grip is to save someone's life. By the time that person processes that they have to accept the grip, they're already dead.
I think the team cc could work better if he gave a teammate a "tether" that would last for a short amount of time, that the teammate could then go into battle with, and use when they want to be pulled back to him, like an orb of harmony with no healing, that when you press a key it activates the ability.
He can carry to some extent, but you need a solid other main support to carry. Otherwise you cant really heal your team, this would be bad especially in a brawl comp.
@@yorimz8807 honestly he might make moira meta because he has enough utility for the both of them and then moira can just pump heals into the team. The healing on lifeweaver seems like kind of an after thought

65 health every 3 seconds or 25 health every second. That's how I see his healing (Of course, I can't see what the animation speed for less than 65 is) but something tells me his healing is better in smaller, but more frequent bursts over a larger, but slower burst
@@TLO_YuriYeah buff the chargerate a bit and he's fine. I think that would feel better and be more fun to play (to be able to do faster heals) than just buffing the healing number.

It is confusing and bordering on being unserious. still, he kinda does still absorb souls, as he heals with damage dealt and killing.
The pull should be similar to Zarya’s shield. stays on you for some time and any moment you hit your interact key and then be pulled back to him. Giving you control over when to be pulled
I like this idea, though idk if people will be able to do that fast enough if, say, they’re falling off the map (which seems to be the primary use for this ability). If it prevents trolling though then the benefits outweigh the negatives.

As a support player, i think this is going to be a very interesting addition. I can see lifegrip as a great way to rescue your other support from being pressured. The healing does feel a bit underwhelming but i could see the charge up time being increased a bit. Overall I'm really excited to see what he feels like in game. His character is very unique and it feels very fresh. He kinda reminds me of a bloodelf so im thrilled lol
@@sleepysabi4154 plus, less focus on healing lets ana feed on heals for charge and pump out nanos faster. Same way lucio, brig, and mercy are played in higher levels. Even though your ult is pretty strong and you want it sooner than later, you usually want to prioritize the other support's ult for the playmaking potential. On top of that, it looks like he has decent peel for Ana. Not kiriko or brig levels, but more than lucio and mercy. He can also help her with rotations or staging from locations she might not be able to reach otherwise.
I think a fix is very easy for his pull ability, either make a check for solid ground underneath the lifeweaver, or make it to where he can't use the ability while airborne.
@@crustyarmpit if they give the option to cancel it or even require acceptance would make playing as a non-troll lifeweaver very frustrating as players may accidentally cancel or not accept when it would save them.
I think heroes like this are what can make the game more interesting and team focused but obviously when you play solo or with randoms, it’s gonna lead to a lot of trolling.
Im glad they arent afraid to release a support with low healing and decent dps potential, this is what I was hoping kiriko was gonna be until her release when she was suzu healbot with a kunai thrown in whenever no ones at risk.
If the pulling ability becomes a big problem I can definitely see the ability being replaced or altered with something that requires the recipient to accept the pull / teleport.
To counteract the “pulling teammates of the edge”, maybe there could be a tiny platform that would automatically appear under the person pulled. Therefore no one is pulled off the map.
Tbf, I feel like an easy fix is that he can't use his ability while in the air. So if he jumps he can't use it, like with junkrat ult. U can't ult in the air
i think a good way to stop people from throwing with life grip is to just make it so the landing point of the ability snaps to ‘safe ground’ (basically just being the closest piece of solid ground or any area that isn’t directly above a death barrier etc)
@@UkrGaz true but a 4v5 situation is atleast winnable, whereas a trolling life weaver would make it a 3v5 by pulling a teammate away from a fight or even a 4v6 if they pull you into the enemy team which is much worse

@@nailinthefashion What's with the hostility? That kind of anti-troll function doesn't hurt _anything at all,_ so why not do it? Plus it could save someone who fat-fingers the button in a bad place.
That’s a good idea, but I think maybe the bubble turning into a smaller flower platform that stays for a second or 2 may be helpful? Just spit balling but it’s something
I think a cool solve to the low healing could be making the landing have a little splash healing where it would give for example 65 to the core receiver and 30 to near by allies up to a certain amount or so. Just a thought
Just by seeing how hard it was to keep the bots alive, I think that’d be a solid idea. I mean, even if 30 is way too much splash healing, 20 would be extremely forgiving for his kit tbh
They don't want a solution The low heal output is intentional He is a utility based flex support Not a main support, sort of like Zenyatta you're not supposed to be focussing heals, just enough to sustain low health allies But heals shouldn't be your focus He is sorta like sym when she was support give utility, and support rather than blind heals that's the main sup's job
I feel that the pull ability is going to have a command that the ally needs to do like pressing "S" or something and if not done in a certain window of time the ability just disengages or maybe you could be able to kinda mash your "W" key to deny the pull
kind of breaks the speed of it if you require the other player to accept... and honestly if you're not aware of where your Lightweaver is standing, it's not going to do much good. I think, honestly, the best thing to do is to give you a .5 second "Hover" where you can move after the grip is done, so you can get away from the edge. Or, life grip lifts you up over Lightweaver's head, giving you time to move away from the fall and back to safety.
@@JE-zl6uy If it works like Sym's TP it'll be fine. You can hold F while walking towards a TP and get ported as soon as you're able. I can see tanks holding F and diving into fights so they don't have to react to the pull when they get low.
I like the idea of Lightweaver's pull as it's an ability some healers can use in FFXIV and is overall very useful, but that's in an MMO. I feel like the pull is still going to be huge yet at the same time I know and can see the troll potential.
@@BlueNoodler And in WoW and FF14 I saw a LOT of trolling with Leap of Faith/Rescue. The worst type is a healer who think what you're suppose to be doing. Like countless times in casual content healers were pulling me from small damage aoe as a tank when I was full on my CDs. That will happen here now when some random Weaver would pull Genji from his ult.
And it's used to grief there too. The big difference is that, if you troll people in XIV, you are only wasting your own time. There's no fun to be gained out of griefing there because, not only do you need to res the player yourself, you're also making everything take longer. Dungeons have a set time limit. You don't lose if the enemies inside complete an objective. In higher level content you're just removed from the group and people move on. Overwatch they're stuck with you until the match ends.
There's an option with Ana's hero specific settings to confirm your nanos, I think that's how Lifeweaver's pull should work, but for the person you're pulling. If you activate the ability on them, they have to confirm it somehow in order to be pulled. This would completely fix the trolling aspect, but would also kind of defeat the purpose of the pull because in a dangerous situation where youre about to die, you need to react quickly to confirm it.
I like the confirm idea, but maybe it should be a queue kind of thing where pressing the ability offers to grab for a few seconds and then your teammate can actually do the grab. It should probably be tweaked to only work while he's in line of sight and in range though, because otherwise grabbing through walls sounds kind of broken.
Also people who don't know how he works or don't have an "accept" binding set will just miss it entirely. It'll take days, maybe weeks, before you can jump into a game and even have that ability do anything other than confuse your ally.
I think you could fix getting pulled off the map by giving the pulled character a few coyote frames before they start falling so they can safely walk back to the ground before gently falling to safety
@@marshalldrew4809 I just know it from Celeste platforming, makes it a bit more forgiving to jump after running off a ledge rather than gravity kicking in immediately. You dont notice it in game but it helps the game feel SO much better. Feel like it could be coded pretty easily and would solve so many issues with not being in control
support main here, I'm honest to god really excited to play him! I can see him being really good if you can easily communicate with people to know when to grab teammates, and as someone who mainly plays with my friends I think he can really shine as a good character for me personally at least. He does seem really easy to throw and troll with which terrifies me though lol
He seems like a really good pick if youre in comms with your team, but in something like QP(Assuming your team isnt in comms) , youre probs better off picking someone else
The communication is going to be huge, tbh. Like he could easily be the most comm-intensive character. Being able to signal a Lifeweaver to save your life will be infinitely more effective than the Lifeweaver making that decision for you.
As another support main I'm ngl outside of the streamers who yknow obviously cant be too critical of the character because they wanna keep getting early access to heros and shit youre the only person I've seen be excited, overall imo he seems way too gimmicky and just like a worse zen/moira, his only good ability imo is his pull even then that has potential to be a massive throw depending on whos using it, his ult is just a worse zen ult giving out less healing in a smaller range that can be destroyed, his lift has almost no utility given that it can also be destroyed and his dash is just a worse moira fade, but I'm interested on your take on all of them
@@mykull8465 You're not valuing the cover/collision the tree provides, it has uses outside of the heal. The platform will save you from a grav before it dies everytime.
Maybe they could implement a feature where when you’re being pulled you can break the pull. So you can choose to take the pull or not while not taking away lifeweavers ability to pull someone out of dangerous situations quickly. This could also get rid of the troll factor cause you could realize you’re being pulled of the map and quickly press whatever button they choose to make it to just break the pull mid pull
The thing is, it would just make it a pointless ability since I can guarantee you most of the time (unless you're playing with a group) they're going to break it
@@IIAwfulWaffleII It doesn't matter if they break it, if that happens then they get punished and its their fault. Better to allow players an escape then let it be okay being dragged around by a troll.
maybe if they make it a charge system? meaning if you do go for a grab, it takes an extra second or 2 before you start moving that means if you hear an ult you can just release it and let them make their play it's going to cause some big arguments though
I think this is a good direction to be taking supports in, focusing less on being heal bots and bringing more utility to your team. they are called supports for a reason, they are there to support and while healing is a part of supporting it is not always the main factor that makes a support (think baptiste's immortality field or mercy's damage boost).
Just saying healing is the most important factor that’s always in play, if you’re healing properly you won’t need immo, also the dmg boost at this point is useless because mercy heal is way better and dmg boost also made the game absurdly unfun with sojourn and Ashe. But with how little healing he actually does and he doesn’t have anything like suzu or immortality, it’s going to put a shit ton of stress on the other support. Another thing with the pull it just doesn’t sound fun to play with. The moment the life weaver is upset it’s going to make the game impossible to play. Another thing is since his healing is so low and his only healing is 65 burst heal after like 1-2 seconds of charging is abysmal. The basic job of a support is to heal, yes there are other things to do but very rarely is there going to be a point where you don’t need to heal, say it’s a lifeweaver and Ana, the moment Ana goes down your team is FUCKED if the fight sustains. Imo this is a terrible addition to overwatch sure he has a bunch of utility but we’re going to be seeing low heal numbers and high dmg numbers. He’s going to become a ult bot. For fucks sake I’m pretty sure zen has better healing output than this guy.
I think life grip has crazy potential to enable a hero that normally isn’t a flanker, like bastion to make an insanely aggressive play that they normally wouldn’t survive due to lack of mobility cuz they can rely on life grip to pull them out
I think the cancel pull option is cool. make it the interact button like for a portal, and put the ability on a 5 second timer. Rein charges in with 5 seconds to accept being pulled back to safety would be smart
I had an idea when I first saw it that it could only be used if the person is actively in the air, like in the trailer how it showed him saving the Symettra that got launched off the map. All you'd have to do is jump for him to be able to pull you back normally, but this also makes it so you can avoid him being used for trolling.
Flats, thank you for being the first streamer I've seen to address the pull ability. Everyone else has been conveniently skipping over the details. This is what I wanted to know!
I feel like they probably will find a way to prevent pulling teammates off the map. They could just make it so the ability pulls teammates towards the nearest ledge if there’s no ground below you
That's not the only issue with it though, getting pulled out of a fight that you could've won is a much bigger concern for me. I can already imagine how pissed off an ulting Genji or Soldier 76 would be over getting pulled away from vulnerable enemies. Every other support's abilities obviously help specific heroes and situations more or less effectively, like some nano targets get more use out of it than others, but this is the first ability that would be downright harmful if used wrong.
The thing is they could still do it if they sacrifice themselves. Also they can force you to stay in the spawn room if they keep refreshing the cooldowns. Honestly the only way to prevent this is to request permission from the person getting pulled if he wants to get pulled or not. If not the ability needs to be reworked
@@torpid5092 I mean Lucio can also boop enemies into you which can be bad. Also I feel like any person who’s not intentionally trolling would understand not to pull and ulting target. Same thing with a rein who’s rolling their team.
an enemy roadhog can't hook someone being pulled by a friendly lifeweaver cause of cc immunity but what you can probably do is time it so that your friendly roadhog can hook someone and you as a lifeweaver can stay further back and pull the roadhog towards you while the enemy is still being pulled by the hook causing the hook to also keep pulling the enemy until they are both next to you. It could make huge enemy displacements like that.
i think the pull ability is the first ability in the game thats more helpful when other people tell you when to use it. i can definetly see it being used to yoink a genji back to safety after diving into the backline, but it will be the most effective when the genji tells you when to pull
I reckon putting a system like hanzo's lunge but reverse on his pull where you can't use pull while mid air and if you jump while doing it, it cancels it Then you can't jump off or walk off a map and pull allies you have to be in contact with the ground
I feel like the pull would need a restriction similar to what Cass had with his roll before, where you can only use it when you're on the ground. Combined with the system that doesn't allow you to pull allies off ledges, it should go a long way in stopping you from pulling allies off the map.
Here's an idea, since he is like sym in a way and can make things with light, why not when Life Grip is done pulling the target towards you the shield "opens" up like a lotus, rose, whatever to make a small platform they can stand on to prevent that "trolling"
Like the petals of the bud open into a portal and the teammate can fall through to LW or like a “portal” of some sort resembling Syms springs from the open petals and allows the tm to tp to you?
3 possible pull fixes: 1) it produces a brief mini petal platform to stand on to prevent falling to your death 2) it requires the target to confirm the pull with F 3) requires the target to establish line of sight with lifeweaver to allow for pull-OR they can ping request lifeweaver with F to allow for them to be pulled out Also dash should 1000% be on double jump like Hanzo so thorn volley can be swapped to secondary fire
I think the low healing could be fixed by allowing his dash to heal allies as well. Allows for a quick burst save with pull, primary, dash for 90 healing and a double reposition
I really think Ana-Lifeweaver will be the support comp. Imagine Rein rushes in, gets pulls back to safety by Lifeweaver, then ana splashes him, restoring all his health instantly.
@@Listed_Gamer I mean, Mercy has what, 50-60 healing normally and Ana's still able to compensate for her lack of healing. Lifeweaver has alot of utility and can easily keep Ana alive, it's definitely going to be a strong comp I think

@@Listed_Gamer people are so dramatic lol its better that he underperforms like Ram did at release than to be too broken. The focus of his kit is utility, not healing, so with Mercy or Ana to compliment his engagement it'll be hard to counter unless you're keen with Bap, Kiriko or Lucio
considering how long the CD is, that is very niche. That just makes it a worse immortality field at that point bc it can only apply immortality to 1 person at a time
Honestly I’m excited for him, I main Dva so he can definitely save me in a lot of situations if I dive too deep. I also main widow so he could lift me up so I can get a pick or two! And his potential to cause havoc in total mayhem is going to be unrivaled.

@@guiltyspark5313 you can't pull dva bomb. Emongg play tested it. But you can lift enemy orissa during her ultimate wind up and it wont hit your allies on the ground. Also pull works against both grav and flux so you can save 1 teammate from both ults.
It will be really satisfying to petal dash the entire time and not heal even the tiniest bit. Y'all thought my dps Moira era in total mayhem was bad hhahahahahah this will be a new personality entirely
In Dota 2, there are a lot of abilities that can target allies, such as granting invulnerability to physical damage, but increasing vulnerability to magical damage on an ally. A regular way to troll is to decrepify your ally (the name of the effect/skill) while they are under heavy burst of magical damage. Another example is to banish an ally (temporarily erase them out of existence for a few seconds). This can save an ally by removing their existence while they are under heavy fire, or troll an ally by banishing them while they're on the run, thus making the enemies catching up to them easily because after the banish ends, ally reemerges at the same spot they were banished. What I'm saying is there are skills that you can use to troll alies in Dota2, and the game's solution is pretty simple. They introduce a button (like the mute button) on each ally that makes that particular ally unable to target them. OW2 can solve this problem by doing the same thing on Life Grip, simply allow us as players to "disable" Life Grip on us for a particular player.
I think a better alternative to Life Grip would be to put an orb on any ally and then they can teleport to you whenever they want if they are within your radius. This way people could choose when or whether or not they want to be teleported.
That's actually really smart, bc that creates moments of synergy between the team so you have to work together to decide when the best moment to pull in would be... 🤔
but should still leave the 30 meter radius restriction and that it ACTUALLY pulls, cuz if its a teleport and inf radius people are just gonna be flanking with orbs and killing very easily
That would require the player to actually be aware that they have the orb attached and, by instinct, react properly. I think Life Grip is a direct counter to Hog Hook-making it a receiver-initiated teleport would make most players unable to react in time.
I think a good compromise is fixing lifegrip up like Ana's nano settings. So that weaver attaches the lock-on to someone and it remains with them until they change it off to someone else (Or break LOS for a certain amount of time) and the person being effected is notified ahead of time that they have a safety tether that they now control. like the person getting pulled is likely fighting for their life and finding the time to unexpectedly have to hit F or something to be pulled out probably isn't something most players (MOST, not all, the majority of every community is casual) have the reactions for in such heated situations where they NEED saving. However a preplaced lock on system could be good because now it's an ability that the community as a whole effectively shares when weaver is on your team. It could change your screen like if mercy was boosting or healing you and provide "F for lifegrip" to their UI This also gives characters with combo potential ALOT more control over it. I'm concerned about supports dragging my rein back outta a charge which Im very trigger happy on but if you tell me that I as Rein can charge and then pull myself out through Weavers ability? That's something I will never turn down.
Thank you for stating your concerns with the character. We non-streamers can’t try out the character yet, so having a large voice state concerns can possibly influence patches before the character actually releases.
They definitely NEED to implement an accept feature on the pull or at least an option in settings that says like "can only be grasped if health is low" or "can only be grasped while crouching" or something.
They just need to add a few second window where the player can accept the pull with their interact button like a Symettra teleport. Because this ability might not even be used for trolling. It could literally be used with the greatest intentions of actually saving a player, but the player might not need saving or is about to win a close fight and they get yanked. They absolutely need to have a confirm feature on it or else it could be the most frustrating thing, even if your support isn't actually trying to throw the game.
Orisa probably not because of fortified but since he can pull an ulting reaper maybe he could with dva? Tho since it locks on to tm8s and dva doesn't stay in her mech during ult probably not
@@dannyofdoom1 i wondered as with anduin in hots, unstoppable effect only applies to enemy effects and not friendly so I wonder on the interactions. and for dva mech since hog can lock on with hook I think its possible he could as well.
when they added mei, in the closed beta, we saw the same concerns regarding the troll factor of her cooldowns. However, what we saw was that the trolling was not all that common, maybe the occasional ice wall in spawn here and there, but overall mei trollage was just as common as people picking torb or walking off the map in protest. I acknowledge that lightweaver is a different character in a different game in a different decade, but I wouldnt go as far to say that this is going too far. We've been wrong before.
Stopping your team from advancing, or walling off your own team to die is one thing... It can still be recoverable, especially if the wall was an accident, you can just recast and break the wall. Life grip will literally be a 50/50 as to whether your team wins or loses a fight. An entire team fight will be decided by a non-ult cd being used by a single person at either the right time, or wrong time. Supports already get the short end of the stick in 90% of situations regardless if they're healing botting, dps heavy or trying to balance it. Now we get a support that can literally hand an entire team fight over to the other team. As others have said, Nano-Blade, you life grip at the wrong time, congrats, 2 full ults absolutely thrown away. Junk Queen, Rein Charge, Orisa, Dva. Hell, even Ball just trying to contest point. Basically any character that is actually meant to go in and fight is now going to have to position themselves and think about if they're going to be pulled or not. Can they go hyper aggressive and Life Grip save them? Or are they going to pop off, and life grip literally ruins the entire play and potentially the game. That ability alone can be 100% game changing, even without trolling. Toss in the trolling that ensues after a Lifeweaver player starts gettting flamed? It's possible to slug out a 4v5 depending on the match. You can fight around a Mei wall. But a point and click ability, that requires no aim and no confirmation that can pull someone completely out of the fight? You just took a 4v5 situation and made it a consistent 3v5. There HAVE to be parameters for the one being pulled to cancel the ability or deny it. Otherwise it's not even an issue of not performing in your role on a base level, its literally how and when that one single ability is used.
There just needs to be an option to cancel the pull when it’s used on you. Something simple like pressing interact to break his pull on you, that way you could not go at all or just go a certain distance. I also wonder if you can still damage while being pulled, or if all attacks are prevented. I’m thinking about characters like cass mid ult for instance.
I get that but then what would be the point if say you had an overextended rein that hard feeds if he can just say no to getting pulled then it's a wasted ability
@@mrflamram9966 but the character shouldn't be the one responsible to deal with feeding... If you try to solve this problem through a character, like this one for example, you create a billion other problems, like people pulling you for no reason, for trolling, or bad game sense. This is a scary ability... I play on SA servers and I'll tell you this: this character wil be mainly used for trolling if blizzard keeps him like this
Ya agreed I dislike the idea that it should be accepted as opposed to being denied since that keeps it being useful. I can’t imagine the ability is any good if a support has to use it in a tiny span of time to save someone and then they also need to use it in a tinier span of time to get utility out of it.
All his healing went to his passive, pretty much, also the tree can be used to bodyblock people which you can drop in tight corridors and block stuff like cassidy ult and I think it can protect from a dva bomb too
If they add something like a way for the person being pulled to verify that they want to be pulled away, then I think it’ll be fine. That way it feels less like someone else making a decision for you, and more like someone being there to offer you a way out of a losing fight, etc.
The pull ability should work like this: a flower petal (or a leaf for variety) appears in front of you holographically and tracks with the angle of your chest in case you turn quickly. You press 'C' to use it. It flies you toward Lifeweaver but doesn't drop down to kill you if he goes off the map. It hovers at the edge and you can step off. Also, you can cancel it at any time, and it will break and drop you back down wherever you cancel. To cancel, you can just start walking and walk off the edge of the petal (or leaf). To make it even more interesting, you can modify the ability from Lifeweaver's end by having him choose the destination point when activating, kind of like choosing a teleporter. The petal (or leaf) will then fly toward that destination once accepted by the teammate. Since the game already prevents you from placing teleporters into the void, the same code would prevent the trolling. The main difference then between Symmetra teleporter ability and Lifewweaver pull would be that Symm chooses the destination teleporter location but is herself the source location. Lifeweaver also chooses the destination, but his source location is another teammate. This means he has an extra step during casting, which makes it harder to use in order to gain all this flexibility and anti-trolling. However, I think that's warranted because pull has Invincibility, which sucks and there's already too much of it in the game. So if we are going to have it yet again, we should make it hard to use. Otherwise, if the invincibility aspect gets stripped (as it should) then we can compensate by making the cooldown a little less long.
This character looks insanely fun. However, I can already tell this support is probably gonna be very meta. Also can’t wait to see all the troll supports just pulling allies off the map.
i honestly really like the pull ability. i can see a lot of interesting stuff to do with it. pulling an ulting orisa into a teamfight as she's fully charged, bringing back a teammate who overextended, etc. it really shouldn't be too hard to prevent trolling, just make a check to prevent you from using it if you're above a death pit or something
imagine a flank pull too! like communicating with the team lifeweaver to flank and pull someone into the back of the team to ult. I also think his pull ability has huge saving potential when used correctly. so glad to see someone else excited about this ability, too!
they can troll without killing you, imagine everytime youre about to kill someone or make a play or use a ult they just pull you to them? im getting tilted just thinking about it.
@@unleashthebats1793 are you sure? I mean on one hand that is one concern gone but it also removes a lot of the cool plays it could have made. I still think the troll potential goes way beyond just killing teammates unless you have to press a key to confirm being pulled.
I knew the Phase (paragon character) pull was coming and I was afraid of this because it lends to the most horrible thing in a competitive game...which is to give agency of your character to another person. I am very concerned.
A good amount of utility suitable for team coordination and anti-dive. Not exactly applicable as a main healer, but definitely a main support character.
I think if I'm diving he will be my main target just because the free HP when he dies also his movement doesn't seem to take him that far. But idk we will have to wait to find out
I think the best change they can make to him is adding a "consent" to being pulled. Kind of like Sym's teleporter. Maybe the consent lasts for like 5 seconds before he loses the ability to cooldown.
@@rare9242 maybe for you lol. No offense. My Interact key is right next to my movement keys as are most people’s. I don’t think it would be too inconvenient. I still think it’s better than no consent.
I'm glad we are getting a new high skill ceiling support, but the pull looks like a bad time from every perspective. From miscommunication/ lack of communication to trolling to its intended use: immortality. I think it will be fine since unlike suzu or lamp he himself isn't affected by the immorality and he seems very squishy, despite the dash. He will also make for a high kill priority target which balances things out and helps since we kinda lack those since the Transition from ow1 to ow2
Overall this kit looks really fun. I really like the idea of less healing but a lot of utility, it seems pretty engaging. The life grip I feel has an easy solution to the obvious frustration itll cause: give an option for players to choose if they want to accept/ deny a lifegrip, or if they are ok with lifegrip just taking them. In a high elo environment im sure having life grip take would be better because itll make the plays more smooth but for solo queue in the middle to low ranks having an accept/ deny would keep things cohesive in the event that the team isnt in team chat, which happens often until mid/high plat.
My first thoughts for changes to him would be: - 225 health for the larger hitbox - Either let him fire continuous petals that heal, similar to Kiriko, or have the flowers do AOE burst healing like Baptiste - Make allies have to opt in to his pull ability, or allow it to only be used under a certain set of conditions, i.e. falling off of the map or immobilized by an ability like Earthshatter or Mei freeze (would be hard to implement unfortunately) - Don’t let the flower heal enemies lol wtf is that
The way I visualize the pull being made more player friendly is it being turned into some kind of temporary personal symm teleporter / translocator you give to the player. At least in triggering it. You use the pull on a player, they have a chance to trigger it such as you would a symm tele through some kind of prompt. Either have the prompt last for 2-3 seconds or something. I like dancing between symm teleports so thats the most satisfying way I can see it being changed. And my tele I just mean in triggering the ability. Just sharing how I would see it flow well. I can imagine falling off the map and spamming my interact key praying to get pulled.
The life grip feels as though it will be a very skill dependent ability, I think it's very strong but will need skill and good decision making to use it properly and not tilt your team, Note: I think this ability would be great from protecting a zen or ana getting dived in the backlines.
That’s what I was thinking. I want to start playing him he looks very fun, and protecting the backline was actually my first thought before trolling lol.
@@rakanbabidan487 Nah. Too early to make that call. The “trolling” is being blown out of proportion. You’ll see more players being tilted that they were repositioned by their Lifeweaver more than actual trolling.
@@rakanbabidan487 Lifeweaver isn’t out yet so no need to be negative. You’re going to see more trolling online than in your own games. Knowing the OW community, people will mix up being pulled out of a 1v5 as “trolling.”

@@joto5459 no that shouldn't be it. Or a least something like it but not exact. @@joto5459 Just prevent pulling people while you (lifeweaver) are in the air.
Simple solution. Instead of settign the location to where lifeweaver is, set it to the closest flat floor
This seems like a character where your mistakes punish not only you, but your entire team
i dont see a problem with this, the last thing i want is a brainless healbot that doesnt have to think while you play your heart out trying to dive a backline. with regards to the life grip, i think a decent way to try and give the friendly players more control about if they get pulled or not would be to make it so if they crouch whilst being pulled they escape the grab. this way the trolling could be avoided and also give people a chance to deny the grab if you're making a play like you said.
I like this idea. I also think an easy way to avoid most trolls is by making it so Lifeweaver must be grounded if he wants to life grip somebody.

I was thinking along the same lines with being able to "break" the pull by moving in an opposing direction after an initial 0.5-0.75 secs (to mitigate against accidental breaks).
It would allow to be a lot more fluent if instead of accepting it you were able to deny it after it started
I like the confirm idea, but maybe it should be a queue kind of thing where pressing the ability offers to grab for a few seconds and then your teammate can actually do the grab. It should probably be tweaked to only work while he's in line of sight and in range though, because otherwise grabbing through walls sounds kind of broken.
maybe you could get the damage mitigation/immo right away and have ~1s to confirm the movement
it seems too fast for that to work, but I totally want that for Rez.
I've never heard the phrase "coyote frames" before but when you say it, I know exactly what you mean
Now THIS is a great idea.
Support cuck no more talking
15:06 "Itll be interesting to see how he PANS out." haha, that had to be intentional xD
I think that and a way lifeweaver could not bring teammates to you.
Like instead you had to hold the button to bring them all the way.
this is a great idea actually
The thing is, it would just make it a pointless ability since I can guarantee you most of the time (unless you're playing with a group) they're going to break it
@@IIAwfulWaffleII It doesn't matter if they break it, if that happens then they get punished and its their fault. Better to allow players an escape then let it be okay being dragged around by a troll.
maybe if they make it a charge system? meaning if you do go for a grab, it takes an extra second or 2 before you start moving
that means if you hear an ult you can just release it and let them make their play
it's going to cause some big arguments though
I think this is a good direction to be taking supports in, focusing less on being heal bots and bringing more utility to your team. they are called supports for a reason, they are there to support and while healing is a part of supporting it is not always the main factor that makes a support (think baptiste's immortality field or mercy's damage boost).
2 abilities that make the game not fun
@@maxd3str0y3r I know the yoink doesn't seem fun, but what's the other ability you're talking about?
@@yummyhershey5902 he’s talking about dmg boost and immortality
@@genas6703 oh, I'm dumb. I didn't read the entire original comment
I think life grip has crazy potential to enable a hero that normally isn’t a flanker, like bastion to make an insanely aggressive play that they normally wouldn’t survive due to lack of mobility cuz they can rely on life grip to pull them out
Jesus loves you 🪩♥️🪁🪅🎨🎭🎉🤗😘🥰🎣🖼🏆🎈🧸🧩♠️♟️
@@nathanf1919
I'd say flanking is easier in OW2, since watching flank was the off tank's job.
yeah i agree, i’m excited to see the combinations that people come up with when using him.
Honestly bastion should just be removed, trash hero that is only used by garbage players. I mean this for any rank.
@@raldux9153 I always pick him when enemy tank uses rein
I think the cancel pull option is cool. make it the interact button like for a portal, and put the ability on a 5 second timer. Rein charges in with 5 seconds to accept being pulled back to safety would be smart
They should make Life Grip work like Bap's exo boots, where the ability literally can't be used until your feet are on the ground.
agreed seems like a pretty good patch
this
I had an idea when I first saw it that it could only be used if the person is actively in the air, like in the trailer how it showed him saving the Symettra that got launched off the map. All you'd have to do is jump for him to be able to pull you back normally, but this also makes it so you can avoid him being used for trolling.
That's a great idea. I think it'd help with people trying to pull people off map
100000% this
When Flats came in to interrupt Flats my mind was blown, I mean what a crossover! It was like Flatsception!
As a support player this looks incredibly fun to play, the life grab seems dangerous. although the danger is part of the fun lol
It's like Bard ult from League, insane potential for both godlike plays, and godlike fails (intentional or not)
Flats, thank you for being the first streamer I've seen to address the pull ability. Everyone else has been conveniently skipping over the details. This is what I wanted to know!
I feel like they probably will find a way to prevent pulling teammates off the map. They could just make it so the ability pulls teammates towards the nearest ledge if there’s no ground below you
I. Checked it out. You can't activate it while not on the ground and it pulls them to where you're standing or behind you
That's not the only issue with it though, getting pulled out of a fight that you could've won is a much bigger concern for me.
They should put a timed platform underneath the person being pulled. Then they cannot fall to their death.
He seems fun to play and you can have a tug a war with road hog with his pull ability
OH TRUE LOL
an enemy roadhog can't hook someone being pulled by a friendly lifeweaver cause of cc immunity but what you can probably do is time it so that your friendly roadhog can hook someone and you as a lifeweaver can stay further back and pull the roadhog towards you while the enemy is still being pulled by the hook causing the hook to also keep pulling the enemy until they are both next to you. It could make huge enemy displacements like that.
i think the pull ability is the first ability in the game thats more helpful when other people tell you when to use it. i can definetly see it being used to yoink a genji back to safety after diving into the backline, but it will be the most effective when the genji tells you when to pull
"Weaver, stand by to bail me out in 3..."
It seems they've taken it from the Priest class in WoW. Works well in WoW, can't imagine it not being the same in OW which is good
I reckon putting a system like hanzo's lunge but reverse on his pull where you can't use pull while mid air and if you jump while doing it, it cancels it
Then you can't jump off or walk off a map and pull allies you have to be in contact with the ground
I promise yall im going to be a menace and pull all of you off the match
Lmao, of course that's gonna happen. Trolling is gonna go crazy
Some people are saying that it's been confirmed that the person being pulled has to accept
Try me
I promise all enemy Weavers if I see you Ima find you and kill you
Likewise
Either way that’s pretty cool :)
3 possible pull fixes:
1) it produces a brief mini petal platform to stand on to prevent falling to your death
2) it requires the target to confirm the pull with F
3) requires the target to establish line of sight with lifeweaver to allow for pull-OR they can ping request lifeweaver with F to allow for them to be pulled out
Also dash should 1000% be on double jump like Hanzo so thorn volley can be swapped to secondary fire
I could definitely see the utility of Sym TP at spawn, Sym switches off, then gets pulled by him to catch up with everyone else
Nah
I think the low healing could be fixed by allowing his dash to heal allies as well.
Allows for a quick burst save with pull, primary, dash for 90 healing and a double reposition
I really think Ana-Lifeweaver will be the support comp. Imagine Rein rushes in, gets pulls back to safety by Lifeweaver, then ana splashes him, restoring all his health instantly.
I dont think even ana has the heal output to compensate for lifeweaver, his heals are BAD
@@Listed_Gamer I mean, Mercy has what, 50-60 healing normally and Ana's still able to compensate for her lack of healing. Lifeweaver has alot of utility and can easily keep Ana alive, it's definitely going to be a strong comp I think
@@Rebecca-bk9bd Mercy has an instant heal over time while Lifeweaver has travel time on his projectile healing and that's if he isn't switched to his dps weapon at that moment but overall I still think his currently 65 hp at max burst i think it was is serviceable. probably slowest heals in the game but massive utility potential.
The way I see this... Life weaver isn't a primary healer, he's a support who can add versality to the team while attacking
Finally some more imortality! That was what this game was missing!
Well good thing that there can only be two supports in a team so you either lose lamp or suzu
One thing that wasn't mentioned about the whole trolling is ults, imagine nano blading and then getting pulled away, wasting 2 ults completely
The life grip might also be used as a strategy to stall point, grabbing teammates from like 5m away from you
considering how long the CD is, that is very niche.
All im thinking about is being able to pin into the enemy backline as rein and getting pulled out or going for a poke with genji or soldier, also if you can pull dva bomb it might be a sick interaction
@@nailinthefashion I am intrigued about the potential with his thorn damage.. it looks... troublingly good... like on par with rammatra lvl 1 form.
@Poof ah Diego I can afford to fixate on what he can do... Im a support main. Cant have trolls if Im the one on the troll character. ;)
He's like Symmetra when she was a support but having healing potential, love it
Cant wait to play him. There is so much skill/outplay potential, due to his e and right click. Im really looking forward to play him!
I think a better alternative to Life Grip would be to put an orb on any ally and then they can teleport to you whenever they want if they are within your radius. This way people could choose when or whether or not they want to be teleported.
That’s actually a way better idea
That's actually really smart, bc that creates moments of synergy between the team so you have to work together to decide when the best moment to pull in would be... 🤔
but should still leave the 30 meter radius restriction and that it ACTUALLY pulls, cuz if its a teleport and inf radius people are just gonna be flanking with orbs and killing very easily
That would require the player to actually be aware that they have the orb attached and, by instinct, react properly. I think Life Grip is a direct counter to Hog Hook-making it a receiver-initiated teleport would make most players unable to react in time.
@@HVTILLVIB bullshit
It could change your screen like if mercy was boosting or healing you and provide "F for lifegrip" to their UI
This also gives characters with combo potential ALOT more control over it. I'm concerned about supports dragging my rein back outta a charge which Im very trigger happy on but if you tell me that I as Rein can charge and then pull myself out through Weavers ability? That's something I will never turn down.
"If you can heal them, you can steal them."
My support players have already promised that if they go off a cliff, they're taking me with them. 😂
Imagine the potential being able to reposition BOB to high ground, around corners or to the middle of point
For an interesting interaction, could lifeweaver pull a dva nuke or ulting orisa? This could reposition an ult for a wipe.
@@dannyofdoom1 I often have my mercy beam keep tracking a Dva bomb for a little, so I imagine with good timing maybe
when they added mei, in the closed beta, we saw the same concerns regarding the troll factor of her cooldowns. We've been wrong before.
the tp is a lot more drastic then the wall because of the potential to kill the target, but you're right about how many people troll.
Symmetra troll ability: Teleport
Lefeweaver troll ability: Life Grip
Both characters from the same corporation. Makes sense
I want to see some Cassidy Deadeye combos with the life grip so bad.

WAIT TRUEEE
There just needs to be an option to cancel the pull when it’s used on you. Something simple like pressing interact to break his pull on you, that way you could not go at all or just go a certain distance. I also wonder if you can still damage while being pulled, or if all attacks are prevented. I’m thinking about characters like cass mid ult for instance.
I get that but then what would be the point if say you had an overextended rein that hard feeds if he can just say no to getting pulled then it's a wasted ability
@mrflamram9966 you don't get to decide for your rien what they do. Even if they're bad.

I think they should add the ability to jump if ur being pulled, thus cancelling the pull. I feel like it’d add cool movement techs
this is probably the best solution honestly
Like think rein charges and gets a kill on back line, gets pulled in then jump cancels out. Then rein swings on the frontline.
Rip people who spam jump
Accidental jumps make this a problem
@@Noctua8 well that just means it requires a little more coordination to simply comm that ur gonna pull
If they add something like a way for the person being pulled to verify that they want to be pulled away, then I think it’ll be fine. That way it feels less like someone else making a decision for you, and more like someone being there to offer you a way out of a losing fight, etc.
Life grip seems like a great combo with an ally half past six
Stupid and over complicated
This character looks insanely fun. However, I can already tell this support is probably gonna be very meta. Also can’t wait to see all the troll supports just pulling allies off the map.
I'm so excited for him! I'm not sure about the ability swap in order to do damage but his kits still looks really fun
I thought the same, as a console player I’d much rather it just be left/right trigger like Moira
being able to cancel the pull from the side being pulled could be one heck of a fix for the troll pulls
You can adjust the healing lock-on in the hero settings if anyone is wondering.
i honestly really like the pull ability. i can see a lot of interesting stuff to do with it. pulling an ulting orisa into a teamfight as she's fully charged, bringing back a teammate who overextended, etc. it really shouldn't be too hard to prevent trolling, just make a check to prevent you from using it if you're above a death pit or something
imagine a flank pull too! like communicating with the team lifeweaver to flank and pull someone into the back of the team to ult. I also think his pull ability has huge saving potential when used correctly. so glad to see someone else excited about this ability, too!
Orissa gets fortified during ult, wont be able to pull
they can troll without killing you, imagine everytime youre about to kill someone or make a play or use a ult they just pull you to them? im getting tilted just thinking about it.
you cant pull a teammate when theyre ulting
@@unleashthebats1793 are you sure? I mean on one hand that is one concern gone but it also removes a lot of the cool plays it could have made. I still think the troll potential goes way beyond just killing teammates unless you have to press a key to confirm being pulled.
Ah. A fully DPS troll support. That's definitely what I wanted. Thanks bliz.
His dps is awful
yeah, his dps is awful, just like your take.
I'm not sure why you all think 120 dps without any headshots is awful. Realistically you'd better hope it's not, because that 37 hps certainly is.
A new support that may or may not break the game? Certainly not news.
But idk we will have to wait to find out
Your Editors Do an amazing Job Please keep up the good work folks
I think the best change they can make to him is adding a "consent" to being pulled. Kind of like Sym's teleporter. Maybe the consent lasts for like 5 seconds before he loses the ability to cooldown.
by the time you consent its probably too late to save you, its a rough situation.
It would take too long and you wouldn’t be able to effectively save teammates
I disagree. 5 seconds is a long time. Especially if he casts it on you before you rush in.
@@tristynnichols5705 yeah but imagine taking a losing widow duel and trying to consent in the middle of it, way too much brainpower

In a high elo environment im sure having life grip take would be better because itll make the plays more smooth but for solo queue in the middle to low ranks having an accept/ deny would keep things cohesive in the event that the team isnt in team chat, which happens often until mid/high plat.
genius
My first thoughts for changes to him would be:
- 225 health for the larger hitbox
- Either let him fire continuous petals that heal, similar to Kiriko, or have the flowers do AOE burst healing like Baptiste
- Make allies have to opt in to his pull ability, or allow it to only be used under a certain set of conditions, i.e. falling off of the map or immobilized by an ability like Earthshatter or Mei freeze (would be hard to implement unfortunately)
- Don’t let the flower heal enemies lol wtf is that
The way I visualize the pull being made more player friendly is it being turned into some kind of temporary personal symm teleporter / translocator you give to the player.
The life grip feels as though it will be a very skill dependent ability, I think it's very strong but will need skill and good decision making to use it properly and not tilt your team,
Note: I think this ability would be great from protecting a zen or ana getting dived in the backlines.
That’s what I was thinking. I want to start playing him he looks very fun, and protecting the backline was actually my first thought before trolling lol.
DOES HE HAVE A GOODIE FOR US?
Lifeweaver sounds like a character that rewards good positioning. Grouping up with your team sounds like the best way to use this character.
and heavily encourages trolling
@@rakanbabidan487 Nah. Too early to make that call. The “trolling” is being blown out of proportion. You’ll see more players being tilted that they were repositioned by their Lifeweaver more than actual trolling.
@@KeanuChrist yea thats a part of the trolling, its not just pulling them off the map.
intentional or not its gonna be annoying.
@@rakanbabidan487 Lifeweaver isn’t out yet so no need to be negative. You’re going to see more trolling online than in your own games. Knowing the OW community, people will mix up being pulled out of a 1v5 as “trolling.”
@@KeanuChrist im just saying, it seems like the kind of thing where u need some coordination, so how about making it so the ally has to confirm
