I’m from Thailand. My home town “Trat” next to Cambodia border. We had this dessert for so many years ago. And only in my hometown I guess from Cambodia. Just now I got it from Vietnam. Wow so amazing. Also we call Bun Duc too. No one know the meaning. Thank God I found your clip. And Thank you so much. I can die peacefully. 😂
it's the same as a Malaysian kuih (bánh) called Som Som but the coconut milk is mixed together with the rice flour and cook till thicken. serve with sugar syrup. It is always white in colour. Pandan knot is used to give the aromatic smell. But I like your version as it is more colourful. (Y)
Do u know what is the rice cake made from rice powder, peanuts and put in tall bamboo to steam? Pls tell me what it's called and how to make it! Awesome video, Helen! How many slices do u give for one serving? Thanks again!
Hi Helen, Please clarify the amount of water added to each paste color batter: 600ml of pandan water to the green batter and 600ml plain water to the white batter? I think there is an error on your website recipe " the white batter : add 1/2 the flours amount with pandan water ? )
You are right: 600ml of pandan water to the green batter and 600ml plain water to the white batter. I edited the recipe on the website already. Thanks for the notice.
I just discovered your channel when I was searching for porridge recipe. And then I watched 3 other videos of yours and now this dessert oh boy it makes me hungry!!!!!! I've subscribed and will try Vietnamese food through you videos.
Hi Helen. Absolutely love your recipes! However, your "Pandan Rice Cake" needs to have "Potassium Carbonate or Nuoc Tro Tau" to give it that crunchy texture. Mung bean starch will not do the job. I added a teaspoon of the Potassium Carbonate to my second try of your recipe, and omitted the mung bean starch, and it turned out perfectly. Any thoughts?
That looks delicious , how did you effortlessly come up with all that good foods , desserts one after the other like that ? did you learn them all by yourself or there is some one else secretly teaching you ? ( kidding )
Chị ơi cho e hỏi Cái nồi hấp của chị bao nhiêu liter vậy ạ? Lần trước xem clip làm bánh bao e thích cái nồi hấp của chị lắm >.< Mỗi ngăn hấp đc 4 cái bánh bao phải không ạ?
Helen, once again : WOW! You are not only very cute, but you're also very talented! Thank you so much for all your wonderful recipes! Love you from Montreal, Canada! :-)
On here u said 1/4 cup of rice flour and tapioca flour but on your website you said 8 tablespoon of each. That doesn't equal 1/4 cup. That only equal 1/2 cup. Let me know soon
Pandan to me reminds me of tapioca but almost a hint of coconut.... it is very yummy! The texture for steam cakes are close resemblance of a jello jiggler but more dense like make like a very smooth tamale. I agree ots very hard to explain a taste thats nothing like your region. But I think mine r pretty close.
A way to describe pandan is (according to ol' westerner me), that it has the freshness of green apples and a light, but yet pleasant fresh taste. Even when sweetened it doesnt lose its freshness.

Help Helen. My sister tried this recipe with pandan layer only. But it doesnt set firmly as yours. Can u suggest what the problem is? Thanks and I love your channel very much. We just made pho ga following your recipe last night. Yummy.
Hello Nhi Ha, try adding one teaspoon of Nuoc Tro Tau (Potassium Carbonate) water into the mix before cooking it. I let my cake cool at room temperature without refrigerating it, as Nuoc Tro Tau helps firming the cake nicely. Helen is a great chef, isn't she!
Since pandan and coconut are like best friend I recommend you to try pandan coconut waffles! If you live in Southern California like me and if you go to this place called phuoc loc tho in garden grove go there! It's an awesome Asian market where you get get them waffles!

Thanks You for all wonderful recipes. This is my favorite dessert.
You're the best.
Can I just do 620 ml water with 1/4 or 1/2 teaspoon pandas extract Helen? ANSWER PLEASE☺️
+Tina Tong yes you can
lá này 1 số nơi gọi là lá nếp vì nó có mùi thơm như nếp, còn lá dứa thì vốn dày hơn và có gai, chúng chỉ có hình dáng giống nhau mà thôi.
Hi Helen. This looks really difficult to do. Is there a quicker way?
I don't know what wrong am using all the same ingredients , but just different brand name maybe that why am not sure .
Helen! Mung bean starch and water chestnut starch Which one will make this rice cake more churchy?
water chestnut starch I guess. But the difference would not be too big, as I only use 2 tbsp in the recipe.
CookingwithAlia brought me here .:) :)

How long is pandan extract good for? Mine doesn't have an expiration date on it.

Can I replace tapioca starch with potato starch or corn starch ?
yes you can use corn starch
I love the recipe. But I can't help notice the music in the background. Would you please let me know the name of the song. Thank you.
Hi Pakou, it's "Whistling Down The Road" by Silent Partner.
Lúc xay lá dứa e để ít nước đc ko chị tai muốn màu đậm đậm xíu
+heocon vy màu đậm phải cho thêm phẩm màu em ạ, vì nếu lá dứa mà đậm thì bánh sẽ có vị đắng
chi helen oi, chi co the lafm vid huong dan lam nem chua ran khong a T.T
