Would have been good to see you getting it off the pallet. weight etc.

Noted! Truthfully though, not much else to see. To get it off the pallet, we have two guys lift the piano, and another slide the pallet out. And we don't weigh our pianos. "Heavy" and "not bad" are the two weights around here haha. --Drew, 👪🎹

Is the NV5/NV5S action heavier / slower compared to the CA-99 since it is upright action compared to the CA-99 grand-action imitation?

      Excellent questions.
Let me be perfectly honest: "grand action imitation" is mostly marketing talk. Every piano wants to offer a nice grand piano's playing experience so it's usually not saying much to claim it was "inspired by a grand piano's action." Now, in the case of like the Kawai NV10 -- where it actually is a grand piano action -- it does make sense. But the CA99 is a good action because it's a good digital action, not because it feels like a grand piano.
As far as the comparison, Max -- our demo guy and a stellar classical pianist -- was surprised by how similar the NV5's action actually was to a K Series acoustic piano. Which is quite a feat! Acoustic pianos are the gold standard as far as feel, and that's generally what a digital piano wants to be. So I'd say, yes, it's heavier, but in a way that allows for more nuance in your playing. If you're a beginner, you may not have the technique and finger muscles developed quite yet. But certainly as you get into more complex pieces and styles, you'll want to have as much control as possible to get better dynamics.
So strictly speaking, the NV5's is a better action than the CA99. But the CA99 is excellent as well. Max owns the CA79 which is the CA99 without the soundboard -- and he loves it! If you'd like as close to an acoustic, go with the NV5. But the CA99 is one of the best home digital pianos available today in our opinion.
If you want more in-depth thoughts on CA99 vs NV5, we have done a comparison: th-cam.com/video/u6vXHrbjvYg/w-d-xo.html

Hi Guys, Thanks for the video & the additional info. Just a word to anyone considering buying in the UK or EU, apparently Kawai have decided NOT to include the bench shown with the NV5S in the video for the EU/UK regions, although they don't make any effort to disclose this either in the marketing blurb or in the included manual, So if you are seriously considering this, you will also need to buy a bench. Personally, I think it's a bit of a shortcut in a top end Hybrid piano & unfortunately detracts from Kawai branding. (But that's only my view!).
Other than that, it's a beautiful instrument with an amazing sound.)

Good to know. I know the US distribution company is completely separate from the UK / EU distribution operation, so I don't know the thought process on why they'd strip the bench out. But yes, in the US, pretty much every piano comes with a bench.

Yes, the bench is typically not included with instruments sold in the UK/EU, and some other regions. It’s a good idea for customers to double check the exact configuration before purchasing, just to be sure.
