Galliard dying in a wings of freedom uniform has so much symbolism and I love that. But the thing I love more which I never see people mention is Eren trying to stop Zeke from turning everyone into Titans. Like it shows he still cares and doesn’t 100% agree with Zeke’s plans and actions.

Marcel, Ymir and now Porco. Reiner has outlived three Jaw Titans. Also Zeke's entire baseball career lead up to that catch.
And all three died protecting him lol.
1. Marcel died protecting him from Ymir.
2. Ymir died protecting him from Marley's govt. Reiner's ass would have been smoked if he went back after losing 3 titans lmao. Bringing back the Jaw probably saved him.
3. Porco saved him from Falco.

One of my favorite episodes in the entire show. Falco, Pyxis, Nile, and countless others are turned into titans, Reiner once again cheats death, Falco gets the Jaw titan, Gabi decapitates Eren, and Zeke already made plans for Eren's betrayal. A wild ride of an episode!

Clarification: The situation Reiner lived through was not the same thing Eren went through this episode. Yes, they both lost their heads, but what Reiner did was transfer his consciousness to the nervous system of his Titan. Erin, however, was not in his Titan when his head was blown off, meaning he wouldn‘t be able to do it

Can't believe you overlooked how when Zeke was going to yell Eren told him to stop, despite everything happening, Eren wanted to protect the Eldians from turning into Titans.
I think more so than that he wanted to protect Falco, since Falco was the only person other than his closest 5 friends that he said the specific line "I want you to live a long life".
@@Qprah it's a mix of both, bc i think he still cares about other eldians like Pixis (who saved his life), and he also cares a lot about Falco, since Falco is just a child, he treated Eren as a friend, and Eren understands perfectly how Falco felt when he betrayed him

@@Kiwi-Araga Which is kind of hilarious, given that lethal injection is almost certainly worse in that regard. There *are* humane means of execution (Helium), but we've collectively settled on ones that *look* humane but are agonizing.
@@iusethisnameformygoogleacc1013 Thing with decapitation is that even though you're still conscious for a bit, your spinal cord has been severed, so you can feel no pain or sensation. Unlike bleeding out, which basically suffocates your body, your brain activity quickly slowing to a halt is positively merciful in comparison. Just everything relaxing and what I assume would feel like just knocking out.
Moving consciousness to the spine is an ability of the only Armor Titan. Armor Titan is consider a defensive, more tanky titan. So that he has this ability for a greater vitality than other titans. Eren's titan (the Attack Titan) doesn't have this special ability, but his will be revealed in the next episode. These details are actually explained in the manga. For example, Pieck's titan (the Cart Titan)'s special ability are carrying stuff much heavier than her weight and staying in titan form for years.
The irony is that Reiner, whose Titan has so much to prevent him from being killed, is the most desire to die. And both times Reiner was about to get eaten, the Galliard brothers save his ass.

I didn't watch season 3 or 4 until the final chapters episode had come out, so I sadly missed all of those. If there's not an edit of Gabi with weed, doritos, mountain dew, and airhorns blasting then I'll be severely disappointed lol

its so funny to me that the girl being ymir was something you said you'd never be able to guess, as you've guessed so many things right through this whole show. meanwhile i never guessed a thing right, except for ymir the moment we first saw her, i knew it had to be her. its funny how predictions and such can turn out sometimes haha
I actually love that Reiner has so much plot armour. The concept of a character who's so tortured by their actions that they want to die, but that release just evades them at every turn is super interesting and tragic

You're on point with the baseball, they tossed the ball instead of a handshake because, and eren didn't catch it.
Honestly, i think its better writing for Reiner not to die. Having a character that desperately wants to die get what he wants would be the easy way out for him and not a great conclusion to the buildup of his character. Having Falco eat him wouldve been one of the best ways to do it, but him redeeming himself and pushing forward completes him much more
Imagine if the moment of the flying head had been the cliffhanger to the next episode, rather than for the mid-episode inserts.... so like in the manga... the manga that left his head hanging there in mid-air for a full month on account of being only released monthly.
Zeke's ancestors split off from the main royal family, before the vow rencouncing war was made. I strongly suspect that this is the reason why he was able to resist - or overcome as he put it - that vow, when all the direct descendants of the first king on the island were unable to.
No spoilers please, but do we get a proper explanation how he was able to get around it? If that is the reason like you said, it makes me think the royal family didn't try hard enough to get past it
@@TimothyGod If that was ever explained in the anime, I missed it. And I'm deliberately holding off on reading the last few chapters in the manga, since I want to experience them animated first, so I don't know if it is explained there... but I doubt it.

The human brain remains conscious for roughly 30 second to a minute and in extremely rare cases up to 6 minutes after decapitation meaning erens head made contact with Zeke before his brain died and lost consciousness
15:15 To be fair we seen in the end of Season 2 that Zeke's Beast can remain relatively intact even without him in the nape, in comparison to the other shifters. So not too far fetched he could do such a thing.
Despite how crazy the series has gotten after Zeke scream, it really shows us that the show is still attack on Titan. It's still the same that we've watched from the beginning.

The reason for galliard seeing the memories is probably a combination of what you thought. I honestly thought Zeke wouldn't scream when he did. I thought it would either be later, or in a way to not get everyone we know. Man was i wrong.
Might be wrong, but as far as I can tell, dispersing consciousness through the nervous system is an armoured titan specific ability. It is supposed to be the most durable shield possible, affer all.
@@narindercatt2230 his explanation is correct, but come on. You can't tell me Reiner doesn't have plot armor when they had the PERFECT opportunity to kill him after they ejected him from his titan form during the Battle for Shiganshina in S3, and they hesitated. Eren had the perfect opportunity to finish him off in Marley at the early parts of S4, and he didn't (even if we know why he didn't do it, it's still plot centric).
Only two times right? The other times when it made sense to finish him off was right here in this episode, and at the start of the battle of Shiganshina when Levi skewered his neck and heart.
Half of Reiner's close calls were literally because of plot armor. His ability to transfer consciousness is also only ever used during Levi run-in as well.
Speaking of weird and creepy spider experiences, once I was barely asleep and felt a spider on my neck and with the power of ultra instinct I reached up and grabbed it and yeeted that thing across the room before I realized I did it, my body actually moving on it's own before going back to sleep without a second thought until I woke up. Creepiest thing I've ever done and the closest to sleep walking I've ever been.
Not only Zeke care for Falco, Eren care about him to. When he saw Zeke about to scream, Eren immediately reach out his hand and tell Zeke to hold it

Fun fact: in the manga, the chapter ended with Eren's head flying through the air and then there was an announced 2 month hiatus for the next chapter; people went FUCKING CRAZY
So I believe the author’s favorite character is Reiner lol 😂, so the man essentially has Plot Armor and is kept alive simply to suffer. My man can not catch a break. Plus I mean Reiner never used his consciousness transfer thing again either, that’s a specific power to the armor Titan tho

Also Reiner surviving with the consciousness transfer thing is only a thing he can do, or at least noone else has been able to do it, thats another reason to call him the Plot Armor Titan.
Yeah Gabi has to be hit extra hard by the scene of Reiner and Falco as... Falco just confessed his love for her, and Reiner is her cousin.. so very hard for her I would say :(

All 3 Jaws that we knew about sacrificed their own lives to save Reiner’s ass: Marcel, Ymir, and now Porco. Isayama literally created a Titan whose only mission is to give his favourite character plot armor. I stg that dude has such a fucked up sense of humor.

Anyways, two brothers: Zeke and Eren, Falco and Colt, Galliard and Marcel :( all pretty tragic brother pairings
Also something to note, Reiner was saved by the Jaw Titan holders THREE times, by THREE seperate carriers of the Titan. The first was Marcel, sacraficing his life when they were younger. The second was Ymir, giving up her life to go back and help Reiner and Berthold escape when they were teenagers about. And the last of course was Galliard, who sacrafices himself here, when they're adults. At three seperate times, in three stages of life, Reiner was saved by the same Titan. Making it seem almost like destiny in some weird way.
Also is it ridiculous that Reiner lived?? Is it ridiculous that Eren has lived through all his BS? Eren was dead 100s of times too basically throughout the show. More than Reiner, but he lived too. Reiner is basically the "Marley Eren" in a way. Of course he's going to live through pretty much anything. He IS a main character. He's THE main character pretty much on the Marley side. Not even Zeke, it's Reiner. So if you're going to act surprised everytime Reiner survives something, Eren is the same way. Which is why it's epic every time they fight, because truth be told, neither one is going to die, but it's going to be a good fight. The fact that you don't consider Reiner also a protagonist of this show and are always so down on him and want him to die... is pretty weird honestly. Much more of a protagonist this season OVERALL than Zeke and Eren.. so of course Reiner will survive most everything. And so does Eren, because yeah, he is a protagonist as well

Everyone else is trying to survive, so they are at risk of dying. Reiner wants to die, so he is only able to survive. No one gets what they want. 🤣
I never fully bought that Eren would go with Zeke's plan, since for how much he's changed, asking his people to just stop reproducing and die out seems completely antithetical to the core of his character. Even before the fall of Wall Maria the kid was pissed off at the titans for keeping "humanity" trapped in a pen like cattle. He wasn't willing to accept the conditional peace that others around him did. So regardless of whatever argument is presented to him, asking that his people just stay where they are and quietly die off was never going to fly with him.
