This is better than ANY Chicago version. Sad to say that. But..... it was Foster that ruined you guys and not Champlain like I thought.
drmorq I agree with the first part of your comment, but the part about Foster ruining them is stupid and ignorant. The millions of records sold and the legacy of those records will live much longer than you and I will.

Say what you want, but Foster and his syrup keeps Chicago out of the hall of shame. Before Foster Chicago was a rock band with horns. After Foster they are air supply with horns, sometimes... They lost their fire after Terry Kath and Foster took that and turned it into a hit machine. Made lots of money but art isnt about money. Commerce is. Profit is not the great measure of art.
Larry nailed that vocal-- awesome quality vocal!!! Loved this rendition! I never really like all of Champlin's excessive vocal embellishments at the ends of phrases in concert, but he managed to hold that back just enough here to not take it ludicrously over the top!

Best version I've heard of this song since Bill and Peter were singing it together. Great job, Danny! Chicago hasn't sounded this good vocally on any song in decades. Sad, because the music DESERVES to be sung like this. Here's to Peter and the boys finally burying the hatchet and all of you giving us fans the thrill of a lifetime with a "One Night Only" concert and DVD.
It's the best live style in recent years but I do prefer Peter especially, just older Chicago.
This does not mean that these guys aren't incredible, what a great take on a beautiful song.

Singing just doesn't get any better than that!!! Braggs is a monster who outshines 90% of today's pop and R&B headliners. I couldn't grasp him in this band but this performance is outstanding. Bravo!!!! Oh and the band sounds great too.

Rain GRO After years of hearing Larry in the quintessential R&B/Funk band to the pop of Chicago just felt like it wasn't the best fit, but I was wrong and I admit it.

It’s a joke. The way it’s worded, I also thought it sounded like “the original” was recorded when Bill was 66.
Everytime I hear Bill Champlin my respect for him grows even more. When we talk about Chicago its mostly Peter Cetera that comes first to mind but Bill for me is the backbone. Such a great talent from Chicago and Airplay and most of his works with Jay Graydon and in the AOR music scene. A true innovator of one of the greatest genre in music.

No disrespect to the singer, he's really good. But this song needs more Jason Scheff or Peter Cetera. Champlin and Danny are great as always. PLEASE bring Jason Scheff into CTA. It will be the most accurate version of 'Chicago' going today.
