If Bill had of put his secondary voice ad libs into the original recording like he did in this version, the song would have been #1 for a year back when it debuted on the radio. I love how Jason kept it exactly like he did it in the original and how Bill has such an uncanny way of changing the background vocals to perfection! I love these guys and the memories of this song.
100% agree...Bill Champlin an amazing musician and voice ..bummer when he was no longer with the band...not sure he wanted to leave or they wanted him to leave.

After 35 years, Jason and Bill sang the song again. The Chicago version is good, but this arrangement in the voice of Jason and Bill now is also great. After all, the famous songs do not fade even after many years.
Chicago's ridiculous tour schedule has driven away so much high talent. Congrats Jason. You have got your quality of life back and you can spend time now in the studio creating amazing music. That is art.

I feel that this song is one of the highest quality in Chicago's history. When I heard that Peter Cetera would be leaving the band, I thought the direction and tone of the band would change, but I never expected that KEAN's vocalist ~Chef~ would reach this level. I still think it's the best I've ever heard, and it's one of the best in American rock. The chorus with Bill's bass is also great! 😊 from Japan's chicago freak.

By a long shot, this is my favorite Chicago song. When I hear it, it takes me back to being an 8 year old in ‘86 and hearing it on the radio. The original is a music video I watch often. I followed Jason since he left Chicago and I really appreciate getting to hear a new version of this....I listened to it within hours of its release (like a year ago?). Awesome to see Bill involved too.

Staggered Chicago never did any of the ‘Jason’ stuff live. I mean he’s great doing Peter’s stuff. But man he was lead on so many of these great songs which they never played live after a certain era! Much respect and still sounds incredible in 2024!

There is a decidedly different vibe to this, without the warmth of Loughnane's Flugel lines. BUT I DIG hearing Jason be Jason. Very well done arrangement and Champlin back there, Singing his tail off as always. Excellent.
I’m heartbroken that Deene moved on to familiar territory. In this group his gift was revealed. This group was like a gift from God. The Harmonies were beautiful.

I always say Chicago ruined Jason's voice. As time went on he would since lead on more and more songs live and Robert less and less. Then Jason got fired and his voice got a rest and healed. I agree, he sounds as good or better than ever.

@@arniedeblank9050 I agree with you on your statements except one. Jason Scheff was not fired from Chicago. He was with them for 31 years and left voluntarily due to family issues in 2016. His voice was not ruined, it has merely matured.
@@psrando Yes, the three of them together have a good remake and new album here. Jason Scheff sounds as good as ever and so does Bill Champlin as well. Jay DeMarcus helps keep it contemporary and close to the original.
