Hey coach why do you call it 7 and 9 whats the difference? What do they mean? thank you!!! Love the vids

Nakai McGowan It’s a mirrored route so the number is just telling the QB which side to read 1st. I just wanted control of which side he looks at 1st & which side the concept was on. Thanks for watching buddy 👊

Hey Coach - I am curious though... you guys lock onto and pass at the man coverage. Why is that? My natural instinct is to throw at zone since the coverage will be looser. What’s the thinking behind that?

Coach Lasker we lock on if we know ahead of time they are playing man. If we don’t know then 1st ball out would be man because it happens faster 2nd look zone to open the window by moving LB’s.

those coverages are not even pretending to care about the Shoot routes.. maybe a new tag that calls them as the #1 read? throw to about 2-3 yards and hope they get a good 2-3 more.. that willl really open up slants... / godspeed Mke Leach.. cheers coach!

This is a great route. I like how you guys read it.

Coach Salas, is the 1st slant read like an alert (or in R4 terminology, a "rhythm") throw on this play?

    • @CoachJoeSalas

First one comes out quick. Probably man or no walk if you throw the first one

Looks like the slant can sit/slow down in the window on some of the routes. How are you teaching the slant? Are they changing the angle to ensure that cross face (sometimes flat, sometimes 45 degree)?

Coach Walk vs zone he will sit in window. Vs man he will keep running.

How does this work against Cover 2 Cloud?

How do you teach the Shoot route? How they end up looking back at the ball.

Coach John Maurek sorry buddy I thought I replied to this one. We aim 3 yards deep & look over outside shoulder. Chin to shoulder. We stop when we get to the numbers. 👍

My favorite last year was out fade combo. Can you post your counter cut-ups? I am thinking of going to counter rather than inside zone.

Hey Coach, have you ever tagged the shoots with a wheel route?
