Ok as someone who used to really like Harry Potter….this is really silly. And I can’t imagine getting that excited over an announcement that doesn’t even happen in the books. Not that it matters, but it makes it funnier to me.
I think it has something to do with Millennials and arrested adulthood, 2008 made getting good jobs much harder, student debt makes home ownership unlikely, dating apps make settling down more and more difficult. So they want to return to innocence, because adulthood has done nothing but disappoint
I grew up with HP movies so it's nostalgic for me; like, watch it if it's randomly on TV nostalgic. Not "overcrowd a real-life train station in full cosplay FOR A BIT" nostalgic. I'd never even heard of this until now, that is absolutely INSANE!!!
I’m a former Harry Potter fan and a trans person. After moving to London it is upsetting to realize how Harry Potter has permitted the zeitgeist here. It’s everywhere, JK Rowling is still so relevant and has a huge effect on anti-trans legislation in the UK. It’s impossible to separate Harry Potter from the bigoted writer, especially in a country that has a Harry Potter store on every corner. It’s a constant reminder that you’re not welcome in the country.
Portuguese Queeeennn!!! I am a Harry Potter fan, but, I agree with you, new series? 10 years? Nobody asked for this. About the train station NGL if I am on vacations and this southamerican economy allows me to be in London, I would probably go just for the experience of the announcement, but it they say it will not happen, then there is no need to go to the station. Love your videos!
2:27 “Has anyone seen a larger gathering of virgins? I haven’t “. Best way to sum up this entire fever dream. . Thank you for that -I am at work and almost spit out my drink trying not to laugh.
While I too hope the series is cancelled, it's very unlikely :( as cringe as the whole potterhead thing is, it's still incredibly lucrative. I understand wanting to treasure something from yor childhood but Harry Potter specifically has always struck me more as a merchandising sort of deal; like, it's all about what house you're in, what wand you have, like a series of Buzzfeed quizes to create your in-universe OC than anything to do with actually engaging with the text. Which might be a good thing anyway, since the text is literally manure.
I agree that business people are milking this series unnecessarily & I am against it. The whole gathering on train station sounds silly However, in the era of technology where we cry about people sticking to their devices & not having any human connections, what’s wrong with people coming together once a year to celebrate something all of them have in common? Everything doesn’t have to be always laced with politics. I have seen people hating on other people gathering together outside Taylor swift concert. Why to hate on such harmless events? Let people enjoy what they love.
i;m 43 and a heavy smoker. the idea of spending my dying years, as my global south backward country gets flooded by rising seawater, and yet still forced to see Potter crap simply due to media osmosis, it's very, very depressing.
I loved Harry Potter so much and was obsessed! But as I’ve gotten older I just lost interest. And now I just don’t care this is beyond insane. And the movies aren’t that good. Ralph Fiennes is nice and the third movie is good enough but please for the love of god! No more!
i read the books as an adult and they're alright although nothing amazing, I watched the movies after and although good soundtrack and visuals, they were not that interesting to me and were pretty poor adaptations of the books imo. Still can't believe people are this obsessed over it, especially after JK's hateful persona was revealed
They're a bit like Disney adults i fear....also tbf the Star Wars is MESSY ooof, its quite funny u bring up the fans not growing past their obsession there was an interview with one of the actors and she said the exact same thing 😭🤧
It was big when i was in highschool. I got as far as the prisoner of azkaban(sp?) Meh i was into it then got over it. I feel like it needed to end it gets old and tired. Lol my work day starts at 5am. A tv show is not needed she has enough money and she is a monster.
I don't know what's worse: Harry Potter fans or you calling them virgins SEVEN times in a 13 minute video. Super creepy and just a strange fixation. You rightfully call JK Rowling sexist and yet haven't examined your own sexist language. Ew.
I mean the books were fun for young kids but I don't understand all the grown adults getting literally obsessed with it. There's a group of women, in real life, that legitimately believe they're in sexual relationships with Severes Snape, and it's fvcking insane! I can't even begin to explain their insanity, and I'm fvcking schizophrenic 😅 But the books are fun for reading to young kids, especially if you're able to do different voices for each character, the kids love that stuff. It's adorable.
The only thing that would warrant a H.P series adaptation, would be if it looked aestheticly different , despite being more book accurate. But as it's a Warner Bros production, I doubt it. Not to mention making it more faithful to the books, means including a lot more of the 'problematic inclusions' that the films left out, such as S.P.E.W Winkie, and very evil goblins. 😐
Damn. So much hate. Maybe read the books and perhaps you’ll understand why it’s so beloved. And for the record, I’m a Potterhead who has read hundreds of other books.
The books are great for reading to young kids, especially if you do different voices. They love that kind of thing. But they're not a masterpiece of literature or anything like that, and sadly when an author makes it obvious that they're an absolutely terrible human being it tends to make their works less enjoyable for many people. She has courted a lot of hate for her gross bigotry, which I'm all for. But I agree that the original book series shouldn't be the target. A brand new series, however, I can only assume it will go badly for Joanna 😅 She can't keep her mouth shut to save her own career, so I doubt things will change no matter how many new books she pushes out. Her original audience is now older and knows what kinda person she has become, so she has an uphill battle this time. If you're able to look past her behavior then good for you I suppose but a lot of people can't or they don't want to support her anymore.
@@hamdialihassan1048 As someone who has also read Harry Potter and many other books (and who is a writer myself), what you find unbearable about her now has always been present in the books, we just turned a blind eye to it. The soft defence for actual slavery that she makes with the elves subplot storyline is the best example of this.
@@scorpioigor well with that mindset you can blame George rr Martin for justifying slavery, incest, sexual assault and all kinds of horrible stuff. Fiction is fiction.

I totally understand this point
Yep. Nailed it
Pretty much
As someone who has never heard of this event i was expecting it to be way more than it was. All that fuss over a 5 second announcement? 😭

I’m so sorry! 😆

I totally understand the nostalgia for sure. But yeah, making it your whole personality when you’re a literal grown up is…. a choice 😅

Hmm now I am seeing in a complete new light what the actress who played Professor Sprout said recently about HP fans. As in, now I agree with her.
what'd she say?
@@lollybowser in short, the gist was that it's stuff for children and she expected people who are adults now to be over it.
@@Millie.C honestly I'm fine with adults enjoying media for children but to this extent it's just creepy

I honestly never read or watched any Harry Potter book/movie and don't get the hype.
