Thanks a lot for the class man, I'm having a struggle to follow the metronome for daily practice but I'll keep trying.

You're very welcome, Jordi! :-) I'd hardly call a 3 minute video a class, but perhaps I'll put a longer one up someday about the importance of using a metronome. Practicing w/ a metronome isn't fun, but it WILL take you to the next level as a musician! Starting slow is the key! When I start working on new pieces (for piano, vocals, sequencing 8-bit, etc.), I often set the metronome painfully slow to ensure to hammer the rhythms out. A great sense of time doesn't happen over night, so if you find yourself getting discouraged, take a break and come back later! Are you primarily working on singing with the metronome or another instrument?

Thanks Tyler. I was told that I need to hear the beat when I’m singing and practicing with a metronome would help. I didn’t know how to get started and your video was very useful!

Thx, Theresa! Spending time to build a solid sense of time is a game changer! Thx for listening and taking the time to leave a comment!

I'm still struggling. People keep saying i'm off timing and that I should use a metronome but it doesn't help. It just annoys me hearing a ticking sound when i'm trying to sing. It makes no sense to me

    • @Xenomorph358

And when I try to follow it like i've been told I slow down to match the tick which throws the entire song off. I'm so confused I feel like a failure at music ugh

@@Xenomorph358 Developing time sense and metronome coordination is definitely a skill and is something to be practiced and built on. Try snapping or clapping on every beat instead of removing 1 and 3. Twinkle Twinkle Little Star and Mary Had a Little Lamb are both songs that have syllables that land on every beat -so your words and the click work together. I know it can be frustrating, but having a solid sense of time will make you so much more valuable of a musician in the long run.

      @@mrtylerlarson Hi,
See even that alone confuses me. As I still don't understand how that would work with my song. Like I create a song how I like but the metronome makes me off beat to the way I wrote the song. I don't know how to explain it but at this point i'm giving up on music and it just makes no sense to me 😭
