I was aware that until the Bradford Electrification was completed that diesel locos pulled the London InterCity trains between Bradford FS and Leeds. Surprised to see a HST power car doing the job, also surprised not to see a DVT. Was even more surprised to see a diesel loco used to pull the whole train out of FS. I take it that the HST/91 couldn't work in reverse?
The 43 was in effect a driving trailer which was idling and only providing power for the coaches. reason was due to late delivery of the Mk4 stock. (I got this from: www.railforums.co.uk/threads/class-91-43-late-1980s-formations.141904/).

Class 43 hst power car working for traction and train electric supply eth or ets as now known as. I personally didn't know class 91s worked to foster square before the wires went up...dont know if this was regular of none availability of a 47 to drag to foster square....good vid.
Yes as you see it is true. I have a photo taken at Leeds of one running blunt first on a train of MK2 stock. Not sure why that was but I know the MK4 stock was not built until after the locos came into service
Wow I have always though Bradford is a slum city but doesn't it just look it back then! The dilapidated station seems almost unworthy of such a smart new train haha!

When Br ran the farewell tour for tamworth castle, the train of mk1 intercity stock was taken forward by a 91 blunt end first.
Where did the pacers go?
Keighley/Skipton. Ilkley or Leeds
The pacer with non PTE livery may have come from Lancaster/Morecambe.
