I love this vid a lot! I'm still trying to get away from thinking what I like or what I'm doing is "wrong". This vid reassures me that sometimes something might not be wrong, just different!

20Deg. Grid + Diffusion at 3-6 feet feels like a great combo for me. Great information and content, thank you.

Thank you for all your videos, inspirations etc. I'm huge fan of yours! I discovered that grid with diffusion is the best setup for away shoots in restaurant etc. as I don't have to take any softbox, only very handy stuff as I use big 5 in 1 reflector/diffuser and not a rolled paper :D and the light quality is amazing!

keep em coming! :D great video as always ️
I really like the diffusion+reflector combo look, i think it would be easier to manipulate the highlights and shadows in post, but then it's all a matter of style.

I also like the setup of the reflector with the grid and tracing paper diffusion in front of the light the best. But I also quite like using a second light on the other side of the food in combination, also with a grid, but with no diffusion and some barn doors to create some hard, specular highlights on the top of the food in the shadow area.

Softbox at 1ft is the clear winner for me. I don't need a lot of moodiness or depth in my YT thumbnails, I just need bright and clear photos of the subject without too much contrast. That's just my needs and preference though. There's no right or wrong answer.

I do love light through large diffuser. it gives the most control. But that is another 3 equipments you have to carry. One heavy duty lightstand, one arm that hold the diffuser And the diffuser material itself. And depend on which diffuser you chosse it can get heavy and big. For on location shoot, I hate carrying more stuffs and it takes more time to set up and adjust. If you shoot in studio, forget what I say here😂. So I just condense down to softbox. One lightstand one softbox, easy to move around on location. Faster set up. Less control but can still produce great result.

Have you done a video on continuous lighting for food videos? I’m wanting to “dabble.” So it has to be really good but, perhaps, not the best (most expensive. Any direction you may have to sort this would be most appreciated.
