Incredible opener. People hate on this game, but it accomplished exactly what it was meant to. It showed a glimpse into a hopeful future for Spira, free of Sin and religious oppression. But it also showed the grief of those who were lost along the way, and how to heal from it; how to forget your troubles and just have a good time. But fun can only last for so long; one needs to have direction. A goal to head to. A very powerful story in essence. And this soundtrack highlights the lightheartedness as well as the gravity of life. I’ll never forget the world of Spira, even when I’m gone.
It definitely could have been done better (especially the cheesy YRP shtick and being a little TOO goofy and anime at times), but I wholly agree. The combat and dress sphere system were simply better and more interesting than FFX's and many other FF games. Class systems had disappeared for a long time by then and I was ecstatic to see it brought back. Yes, there are silly and goofy moments in the story and it doesn't really pick up until the last 25-30%, but you're watching a world heal after their lives almost ended. I, for one, am willing to watch a world in the process of healing and reclaiming their lives for a bit rather than watching it all get torn apart once again like most RPGs (and even Final Fantasy) would tend to do. After the events of FFX, Spira NEEDED this time to heal and so did Yuna. People are beginning to enjoy life again. I was honestly glad to be able to just see Yuna in the driver's seat, even if I can't enjoy the first few hours of the story as much as I once did. Sometimes a story of healing over grief and loss is more fulfilling in the end than "fight big bad world-ending being" like every other story. At least I can relate to it. There are so few games that even touch upon this aspect, let alone focus a game on it.
ABSOLUTELY, YES there are goofy parts in this game but to have a chance to see Kilika getting better and Luca being more and more safe was something that I gladly took as an amazing part 2 for ffx story. I loved seeing Yuma finally being herself and putting her decision first. She was so young when she decided to put her life away for others and now, as peace maker she is living her life. But also it is interesting to see that even without Sin, the war among ppl was rising, and it is nice seeing how to resolve new issues with new threat and in the same time having opportunity to save Tidus and finally giving chance for both of them to have a happy life. Yes, the mechanics are sometimes confusing AND YES IT IS ABSOLUTELY IRRITATING SOMETIMES to follow tutorial to get 100% for true ending and if u miss something bam, u immediately get other endings, but whoever adored ffx will also love ffx2, and the soundtrack is as iconic as FFX one
Man it really does 😭 I remember wanting this game soooo bad because I was still in my feelings over seeing Tidus and Auron go. It’s was too hard to skip this intro 😅
I used to just sit and let this play over my crappy little box tv when I was a kid to just relax for a while. Still such an amazing song, and while I do cherish FFXV's title music more nowadays, this will forever hold a special place.
@@sammie756 Exactly. I've always loved how music can bring so many Real Emotions, even if it doesn't need 1000 Words to do it. My puns at the game's other songs aside, it truly is a beautiful piece.
It brings you to another world... But you realise that it only brings your spirit there... And when the piece ends, you're right where you don't really want to belong....
@@EQOAnostalgia I was 11 when got my ps2 Christmas of 2002 with final fantasy X and lord of the rings the two towers... Coming from the playstation 1 the upgrade in graphics blew me away
Yuna fell in love with a dream. Someone who wasn’t real, but touched her heart in ways that no corporeal person could. Just a dream, but flesh and blood. He was there for one reason. To end the cycle forever. When his task was done, he faded away. The entire time playing this game, I couldn’t stop thinking how much pain she kept hidden away. Every happy moment was never happy for me.
Such a beautiful piece. Uematsu is a genius. I love how peaceful it is while having both a dash of hope and sorrow. Perfect way to describe how Yuna felt during this story. I'm actually going back through FFX for the first time in a long time because of rediscovering the soundtrack in my music library.
You’re not wrong to make that assumption, but Uematsu had no participation in this ost. It was a one-off by the game’s two composers - very hit and miss compared to the more traditional music of the series prior.
I love the theme ... reminds me of everything the FFX and FFX2 went through, the difficulties, the obstacles everything. And as a player who played both games brings fond memories of a time that will never return. However there the song also brings sad memories ... in and around the time of both games I had a special GF in my life she cosplay Yuna perfectly a total geek. Never thought I could ever find one for me, but it was too good to last. She changed for the worst in a matter of a year or so, becoming toxic. I left the relationship because of her change and we never spoke again. After that the friends I made during my childhood went their way never to communicate again. Last year I lost a dear friend of mine in a car accident, this guy love the game.
This game was very good in terms of gameplay, the real-time battles and the clothing spheres were incredible, objectively better than the FFX system, the problem with X-2 was the plot, and perhaps how girly it was, to the point of giving a bit of cringe, but anyway I did enjoy it, surprisingly more than FFX (Although it's probably because I played FFX-2 first before FFX) I think this game is very underrated.
To be honest I didn’t really care for the plot in this sequel HOWEVER…the combat and dress sphere mechanic was really fun. Also something about the credits with this theme just sparked nostalgia without even playing the game 💗
It was a nice game, but I still remember wishing this had been more of a standalone concept with its own world building to it. Maybe even letting it still be an FFX sequel, but not taking place in Spira. The setting just felt too small for this game and too focused on the past.
Afraid not. The combat and dressphere system (well, class system) were far superior than anything than FFX's bland combat had to offer. The main plot and some... odd character decisions were the only real weak points, granted it's a large part of the game.
@@humantacos9800 all ffs battle systems are ripped off from each other, the fact is this atb style combat system with mid battle job changing was a combination of many great battle systems and probably the most advanced in the turn based genre it even had intercept moves, one of the hardest ff dungeons of all time too, game looked like it was for kids with an endgame dungeon that gives veterans a run for their money

Same!!! I spent days in my bedroom playing this game on my small ass box TV.

It's sadness but finds transcendence through itself into deep joy and meaning, especially in that fourth arpeggio that ties together the first three
I’d say melancholic hopefulness sums it up best.
