Nothing goes according to his plans if it depends even a little bit on luck. 3) Ben looks like the guy just having fun. But he the smartest of them all.
Sam and Adam are trying to do the smartest thing and their first step in guessing at an opponents moves is that they'll do the smartest thing. Ben is doing fun things.
Sam has had god tier luck last season and he got pretty damn lucky twice in Australia and in New Zealand. But than again he has gotten awefull luck as well so it balances out
This is genuinely just such a good, well-produced show. I can not fathom being in an entirely foreign country, not even speaking the language, and trying to outbrain other people, traveling great distances, doing really outlandish things all the while setting up positively great camera angles and delivering great content. Literally wow, 10/10 show imo
Well it helps that Japan isn't a horrorshow to foreign tourists unlike most of the world. Try being a Japanese guy running around doing challenges in Europe, see how the 'cultured' continent treats you.
Sam also has a couple other channels that are more well known than this, those being Wendover and Half as Interesting, which both might have over 1 mil subs
@@arandomdudeontheinternet5792 For sure lol, didnt mean to sound sour if I did, they all definitely deserve it and all their skills combined mesh well together
Ben chilling under a bridge and perfectly psychoanalysing Adam and Sam is iconic. I feel like I say it every season but Ben is my favourite Jet Lag player because he's so damn good at using what he knows about his friends against them.
And he acts goofy but he's extremely, unassumingly smart and when his strategies fail, that's usually not his fault. He is undoubtedly my favorite player as well, which makes the second season of tag a good rewatch
I think the reason this is my favourite game format is the same as why I loved it when they did it in switzerland - we get the best of both worlds - the seekers are doing all the frantic hunting and dealing with transit issues, while the hider is getting to explore some of the locale and point out cool things, so it's more of a travel show than just a crazy game - in Tag it's just GO GO GO GO all the time.
Yeah, I love having the switching back and forth between seekers frantically planning and figuring things out, and the hider just chilling and looking around (or frantically running from killer monkeys)
Damn, those are some good timed curses really carries Ben's first run, what a good start (Well, Sam and Adam's bad luck too, lol). Also 35:13 where hiders can only hide within 10 feet of marked path is definitely added to avoid them frustratingly trying to find Sam in the forest back in the Switzerland episode.
Iirc hed have gotten a whole another hour guaranteed, if once they asked him for a strava map, right after that he played the curse of unguided tourist, not sure why he never used that one
Choo Choo Chew getting steamrolled by The Snack Zone is still one of my favourite running gags. Sam, if you ever want to see that graphic again, you gotta edit these things yourself :D
While I do think Rainbolt would be pretty good at a game like this, something to keep in mind is that geoguesser pros use the fact that most Google Street-view photos were taken at specific times of the year in different regions. For example Rain got tripped up by a photo in South Korea because it wasn't taken during the winter.
52:34 I love how it says in Japanese right here that you shouldn't go under the bridge because it's dangerous and that's exactly what Ben is contemplating on doing haha
The first season of Hide and Seek was my favorite of Jet Lag to watch - beautiful, changing scenery, and each episode stood on its own really well - but the curses didn't come in to play a lot, and a lot of the same questions got asked. I'm ten minutes in and already I LOVE the changes (especially that the game is six days long!)
I'm so glad they came back to japan! Tag was fun, but I feel like we didn't really get to see how beautiful the country is the way we did with switzerland and new zealand
Cards are a _lot_ better than dice, because rolling multiple dice forms a discrete T-distribution (similar to a normal distribution) that makes middling outcomes a lot more probable than good ones, but you always have equal probability of drawing any card in a deck (and if you design the game, you can load the deck such that the probabilities of bad, good, and middling outcomes are tailored for gameplay).
@@wangsengsin2527 There were warning signs about the monkeys, but none about the snakes. Therefore, the monkeys were dangerous enough to warrant signs, but the snakes were not.
One of my favorite parts of these series is when one group says "they're probably (doing a certain thing) if I had to guess" and then it cuts to the other group doing exactly that. These 3 know each other so well lmao
This HAS to be my favourite of all time Jet Lag video. Ben did so well with his play and the editing of Waltz with the die was absolutely FOUL. I love this video.
Hide and Seek is by far the best format. Theres no real difference in which order you go in and unlike Tag theres a reason to go hard right off the bat and no pointless first runs. Also keeps us in suspense because the outcome isnt already pretty much a given by the last episode.
I still like Tag more, because you never know what happens. In hide and seek you know at one point they will be found. In Tag even when you think it is the end of a run magic happens, like when Ben hide in the photo booth or Adam did the train switch in Italy. And it is strategy from both sides all the time, while in hide and seek the seeker has the strategic planning only in the beginning. But I still love hide and seek and it is my 2nd favorite format
I love how hide and seek really shows off the beautiful places they are visiting, because the seeker basically has a good amount of time to walk around the location. Switzerland Hide and Seek is one of my favourite seasons. Also much better balancing with the curses to get the seeker more involved in the gameplay. Excited!
I understand reasons to like both! About the 1st run in tag it is pretty important since the player going first builds up coins (and annoys the 2nd runner) for their next run.
this tag season is much better. i felt like the powerups were lacking a little bit on the hiders side, like we dont really get to see many of them (and on average they would have to get 300 coins for a roll in the 20s, which didnt happen in the show at all). seekers could just fire off questions with relatively low stakes. this season has already had wayy more tension in it with the new cards system. i thought the hour and 10 minute episode was way too long, but after watching it the time felt like it disappeared
The reasons why I think tag and hide + seek work really well is because the dynamic is different. It's not 2 vs 2 were often one team was way ahead and often could't get ahead properly because of game design (New Zealand and Alaska/Florida for that reason sucked game design wise). It's the 3 of them fighting it out with each other with the help of each other. It just works really well.
I also think that although there have been some great guest hosts (Toby and Michelle being standouts) The dynamic between the three of them is always the most fun to watch
@@Max24871I think Sam was right that that particular question wouldn't be useful, but they should have spent a minute or two just winnowing down which questions were useful, instead of running all over town. "This is fun" said a mean forced to roll dice every step he takes to sell his cards. I love Adam
Ben getting the seekers stuck at Sendai for 3,5 h is just an insane demonstration of the power these curses have. Especially considering that Sam and Adam did basically everything right in the long and middle game. if Ben wasn't this lucky with pulling these powerful curses, he probably would have a time simular to Adams first Swiss run.
I was so delighted at seeing this episode was over an hour. Literally the best game show creators right now and they're not even on mainstream tv!
Ben being in constant fear of monkeys is hilarious
Small forest people with thumbs and no respect for boundaries? he should be X,D
There are places where they can be quite aggressive if you don't know how to manage them chasing you...
@@Eggs_hatching And some pretty sharp teeth and nasty germs

This is normal in the the west
@ this is japan
and then later rolls a dice to see if they can get indoors or not.
@@cbohn99after they play in the kids park for 5 minutes before going around examining who’s rock is better.
Ben's outfits on jet lag never miss, he truly is the underrated fashion icon of our day
nevermind he fell and now looks like he shit himself
I nearly choked to death when he walked on at 8:42 XD Should not have been eating
First video of your all’s I’ve found, and I think I’m hooked.
I love the production quality (I especially love the color-coded subtitles), and this game is really really cool.
Certainly have to watch more in the future.
Including the Blue Danube and synchronising Adam with the music for the dice roll walking was absolute gold standard production 👍
29:29 To paraphrase Abe Simpson: "Like the time I caught the Shinkansen to Sendai. I needed a new heel for my shoe. So I decided to go to Edo, which is what they called Tokyo in those days. So I taped a lemon to my arm, which was the style at the time"
do you know the episode?
@ExtraAngryBearSeason 4 episode 17, but the original quote was different
@@columbus8myhw thanks!
Ben stopping to giving the merch commercial while fleeing killer monkeys is iconic
It's a diversion. Because the Jet Lag card game is so marketable that, the second the monkeys hear about it, they'll drop all their plans to kill Ben and immediately jump to the Nebula store.
An 1 hour opener of a new jet lag season is the best thing you will see on wednesday
Hey, I just want to say that I really love the level of detail you go into with the subtitles. I watch this by myself but also with my family and having clear subs that show who is talking can be so helpful with the music going on. It doesnt go unnoticed :)
This is my favourite TH-cam channel EVER! Everything is so real and funny, plus I love the captions! :D
Best trio on YT!
I've never been so proud of my travelling experience as when I figured out it was Yamadera from the first 30 seconds of footage.
I was there last year! Beautiful place.
8:43 THE PANTS LMAO
He probably fought with killer monkeys 🐵

"it seems like the kinda thing we would write in the script"- sam @31:15 has to be one of the most underrated jokes so far.
Amazing line. Said so quickly, hard to notice.
Probably because most people like to ignore Sam completely
@@isaacchavezz9063 he was a lil quiet in that clip but I get what you mean
Yo I was caught on to that too, I really hope none of these games are scripted. Unscripted makes for the best vids!
@marethyu5072 I'm sure it's not scripted The joke is how many people think it is so they play along saying oh it's in the script
28:39 cool detail how the camera shake syncs perfectly to the music kudos to whoever did that
The editing is top notch this episode!
Anyway, just had to leave a comment for the algo before popping over to Nebula to watch episode 2
We love a season that starts with a nice chunky first episode
No but Ben ignoring signs about killer monkeys is one of the most American AND hilarious things he could do 10/10
I feel like the gambler's feet didn't add 10 minutes, and the guaranteed time would have been better. But it was definitely a mental victory 😂
I think it would've tho because they would probably run if not for the curse
Yeah stranding them in Sendai for three hours was way more impactful
what do you mean? Ben was able to draw the gambler’s feet curse card AND the 30 minute and 10 minute time bonus. it’s shown at the end that +40 mins was added. I apologise if I misinterpreted your comment
@@penguin-tc1cxhis choice for which card to draw was between the 10 minute time bonus and the gambler’s feet at 1:04:30
@@alphanick4694 ah it seems I may have gotten mixed up from the 10 minute bonus already in his hand (which I assume was from a previous draw then?). my bad
The production that went into this is GREAT. Keep it up, specially with the subtitles
This is the Best show series in youtube.I have watched every episode..Keep up the good work, guys
Sam & Adam: ok so if we go on this train line …
Ben: monke don’t eat me pLeaSe
A triple snack-zone, Ben once again absolutely excelling in his first round.
We're SO back.
Hide and seek IS the BEST Game in this Channel, i LOVE It, please never stop doing them
"It's been" ‐ Adam
"ONE WEEK SINCE YOU LOOKED AT ME" - me when Sam did not know that song
Phenomal video. Perfection. I'm hard to please especially when it comes to Jet Lag but this was PERFECTION. From the Imperial Japan flag jumpsuit (thats literally what it was), to the Blue Danube numbers edit, this made me laugh throughout, and the game design is actually perfect this time around. Congrats guys.
Of course the Japan episode has 'Tentacles' LMAO
💀
Exactly my thought 🤣
Tentacles and Japan, my favorite, well only after Cute and Funny 💢😭
@@000-v7j 🤨
@@000-v7j ...now that, I did *not* expect to read under a Jet Lag episode of all things.
I LOVE the new changes and the balancing. Can't wait to see how this season goes (and can't wait to get those hide + seek cards to play with friends)
Ben chose a very conspicuous outfit for a hide and seek show.
with the newest episode's preview, it might honestly have been orchestrated all along 😭
4:55 I love how they're selling the cards. They know that their version of hide & seek is unique and people will want to do something like it.
Can't wait to receive my copy of Jet Lag: The Game: The Game
I enjoyed the last season of hide and seek, but it was clear the rules needed a bit more designing. The shakeups you did here are perfect.
You know you love Jet Lag when you watched the episode last week on Nebula but still came to the TH-cam video the following week just to check out the Nebula ad read since it's new material...
The most optimal hiding space in the whole of Japan would be some random place inside of Shinjuku station
a photobooth, perhaps
@@peachy-tay Oh god, yes!
I'm so glad this show is back :)
Also it's hilarious to see the texts on cards get longer and longer over the seasons because they always find a way to bend the rules :D
And yet the ‘curse of the jamming doors’ didn’t specify what kind of dice! I was sure Sam was about to pull out 2 d20s
Sam is the biggest rule bender
Imagine being a Japanese kid going to play at the park but then you see 2 grown men swinging on the swings
Best series on TH-cam!
💯
Correction best channel on youtube
I would buy Nebula instantly if all the episodes were there for me to binge. One in a week of this gem is just not enough.
The podcast is really great and gives you more details and behind the scenes stuff.
Definitely worth it, especially since I got it $30 for the year with some half off thing. The podcasts are great and go into the detail of the game, and gives you content during the off season. There is also their new show the getaway on Nebula where it’s like those find the mole shows but everyone is the mole and no one knows everyone is the mole. Really worth it
They do tend to release the first episode before the last episode has been finished.
Agree!! I might subscribe and add their code just to support the channel. Maybe I do it when the last episode launch on nebula.
Such a delight to see the preview and clicking with childish excitement. Amazingly fun as always and so cool to see Japan. Thank you boys, looking forward for the next episode!!
Holy... I just watched an hour and 13 minutes of 3 people playing hide and seek... What a good way to spend my time :)
Great content haha, I'm going to go watch episode 2 right now lol
24:36 Sam's attempt to not make a lemon of himself 😂
Finally a new Jet Lag season.
This is always one of the main series I enjoy watching on youtube, and am always sad when it stops!
😂❤ Sam and Adam being forced to enjoy the park was hilarious! I LOVE JET LAG ❤ Ben dressed as Waldo was everything! 😂❤
Sam and Adam getting trapped by the dice was incredibly unlucky
Bro chill out with the comments
@@Danish_AviEditoreh
Well, they only rolled 3 times and missed twice. It was like a 42% chance they'd miss with the roll. Which, ya missing that twice is unlucky, but not crazy unlucky. Ben chose a really good time to play the curse.
beautiful editing of adam reading dice rolls over the blue danube waltz 😂
droppin in a comment to say i really apreciate the subtitles, i like that theyre color coded and also sometimes move to where they will obstruct the least ammount of important visuals without being overly distracting
Hearing Adam’s “Whee!” On the swings was hilarious XD
Edit: And when he was rolling the dice with the music :p
I guess I don’t need to study for my final that’s in 3 hours
how was the final...
Thinking you’re probably taking it right now… sending good luck!
this is so real I have 2 essays due tonight and a final next tuesday and then they posted jet lag...
No you only need to study 2 hours for it
Don't forget about Fatou's lemma
Oh my god we are so back!! I’m so so excited to see where this goes!! I absolutely ADORED the last game of hide and seek, I’m so excited to see who comes out on top in this one!
I wish I had some rich friends who would want to screw around and do stuff like this, it would be so much fun
Favorite Ben quote #214:
"Look ... I'm not making this up - The monkeys... are dastardly"

Ben is utterly hilarious this episode!
Oh my goodness, thank you so much for covering those holes in the stones. I really appreciate it.
Well, you were right, the second door curse roll _was_ funny.
the amount of funny moments ben has blessed this video with is crazy. hes such a cutie patootie and i rlly hope he wins!
Joining the chorus to appreciate the editing of the dice rolls with the music. Such a great touch.
