When you got skill, talent and ingenuity you don't need a bunch of money. You are the real deal! The satisfaction you must get. No amount of money can buy that. Good stuff Man, good stuff!
Appreciate the Videos. I agree 100% it’s nice when a guy pieced his machine together puts a few feet on an assembled machine. I was amazed at what guys were willing to spend to run towards the top of competition. I guess everyone has to have a place to spend their money. Thanks a bunch.
That’s how I built my pullers. Whatever is close by and I already have will fit with a little work. Chrome don’t take you home! Look like the underdog and pull like the most money spent. I love the builds you have!
I'm a demolition derby guy, but I'm right there with you on built not bought. Not much on my cars wasn't built by me or repurposed from a junkyard. I enjoy following along with you to see how it's done in the pulling world.
Can’t wait to hear it run and see it pull. I like seeing someone with the ability to make what they have work and not paying someone else to do it for them! If you could go into how you have your water injection set up a bit more would be awesome. Thanks again for the great video!
Hey Bill,,,we buy some used parts for our pulling truck. No huge sponsorship shelling out cash. The truck and driver took 2nd in state last year. We're going put on the tailgate "yer old parts just kicked yer a$$".
Bill thanks for showing some of your finest old style engineering! I just wish this old mind of mine would have worked a bit like your's, back in the 70's when I was pulling my stock 4020 at 3 local fair pulls in southeast Pa. I did have some fun then with what I had! Thanks
I like your philosophy. I never did understand folks who would spend more money to win a prize than the prize is worth. I’ve never been able to cash bragging rights either. 👍🏼🇺🇸
We run water in the block but no radiator. It does have a pump and little tank to circulate a little water. It doesnt get much over 180 degrees during a pull.
Love it man !!! Name it Junkyard Deere Thats the way I raced stock cars and won !!!! We used to see what size bolt we had before we drilled the hole LOL
Coming along nicely Bill. Can't wait to see it finished and would like to see it pull. Yes sir I have some friends that spent a lot of money and they are very pretty but they will never get their money out of them. You can have as much fun and enjoyment as they can. I know y'all do fine work through the business and you are enjoying what you are doing with your tractor. Take care.
I've got nothing against the guys that have to buy the latest and greatest and have 'em shiny, that's just not me. Sometimes guys loose all perspective and the tractor becomes way too important, to the detriment of their wife, family, job, etc...
@@so.md.dirtfarmer2226 I agree with you Bill. I try to keep the ones I farm with in good condition. I need to do better keeping them clean in case I leave this earth so my wife can get rid of them and not have someone steal them from her. Take care and I hope to get over your way one of these days and especially get to see you pull.
We never had good luck with a super dampner. Ours would always weld the hub to the crank and then it wouldnt come off. We also had the flywheel come loose. We went to a larger fluid dampner and never had any more problems. If you look up a super dampner they say they dont do anything until 6,000 rpm. Our motor never sees 6,000 rpm
It's like showing home bred livestock and beating the stuff people paid high $ for. We could win, or do well with 1/3 the $ invested with home bred and home mixed feed. There's a certain satisfaction knowing that you did it yourself.
watching this reminds me of a friend I had in high school. he was building a pulling tractor in Ag class. you remind me a lot of him. But he never even would use a cell phone....lol
Hey, let's set the record strait, I got a flip phone to use as a walkie talkie when I go off the farm, and I record all this foolishness with a12 year old sony cam corder. I was wondering when you'd start harassing me. I like your video of the on the slide!
but if you got one them thar new fangled phones, you'd have a nice camera/video recor all in one. and I could text you. and I just found out yesterday afternoon about your channel. 😊
that's true. enjoy my friend. I'm enjoying the videos. I'll spread the word. need to catch up soon. don't be surprised one of these days if I swing by.
Schedule 40 black iron or galvanized fittings are only good for 150 psi. Hey Bill, what is growing on with the extra water pump ? Steam power or hydrogen power ?
@@stevenarnold3935 ok now I understand what you're doing, the tractor pullers in Iowa went to an ice cooler to chill the intake air instead of water injection. It held about 40 pounds of ice. Being an air conditioning and refrigeration man I can make the intake air colder than ice for sure. I am sure a compressor takes a little more horse power than the water pump. This would be right up Bills alley, use LP gas in the compressor to make a super cooler. 😯😁😉
Hey Dan! It's a good thing I didn't know about the 150 psi limit, I never would of got anything built. Seriously, those small fittings have held 1500 psi no problem, the smaller the size, the greater the pressure they can take. It is for water injection to cool the boosted air. I've used them on hydraulic lines also, and never had one fail. I guess the ancient ones I've got laying around are made out of tougher materials?
@@so.md.dirtfarmer2226 well God has been on your side Bill. I understand about the pressure your work with. We change to schedule 80 for steam pressure Bill, that equals out to 3,000 psi. Your fine, I have also used schedule 40 for all kinds of hydraulic lines also. I didn't realize what the hydraulic system pressure was. Water does not compress like oil for sure. 1 drop of water expands 1500 times when converted to steam.
Hey Casper! l wasn't speaking of the tractor being a super or prostock, I was saying the guy l got the crankshaft from was a former superstock puller who now pulls prostock. You are correct, a. prostock is limited to one turbo, a superstock has multiple turboes. The tractor I'm working on is far from being a prostock, l just pull in some local open classes with it.
@@so.md.dirtfarmer2226 That's a pro farm right, definitely not stock . I think pro farm is when its beefed up a little like that one and certainly faster than a farm.
I think the big dogs in pulling are like the big dogs in drag racing. They have very successful business and need a good way to spend some money instead of giving it to uncle sam..But I always root for the underdog. Mr Bill could you please do.a video on why you guys use water injection? Is it to cool the charge air from the turbo?
You would find it interesting to see their design, they use several large rubber "o" rings to dampen the vibration. Maybe you can google ATI Super Damper and see something about the design.
There's never a better feeling than going to the scrap pile and putting something together and it works without spending any money.

Love it, love it, love it, excellent video, and particularly precise engineering !
Love the older pulling tractors more than today's pro and superstock pulling tractors. There's to much bling on them.

We use a vein style hydraulic pump for pumping water. Then we use a simpson water valve that increases water pressure as the boost increases.
Tell everyone it's more than the tractor. There's an art of pulling

Probably water injection to cool down the intake air to make it more dense to increase the horsepower.
