The jack had to be short enough to go under the car and that tire was not flat. If that tire was flat and the wheel rim was nearly touching the ground, the jack would be too tall to fit under the car. Also the jack will not raise high enough to get the tire off the ground. It is way too slow. And even in the best of conditions with the car sitting on a flat surface, it seems too dangerous

You sometimes have some good ideas, but I wouldn't trust that with my life.
a jack is only a lifting device, you should never trust it you should use an axle stand as the safety support
why not"? he's got the other 3 wheels on the ground, if the welds are bothering you just place a large rock next to it as a jackstand.......UNDER THE FRAME,,,,,,,,,,looks safe to me

Waste of time. This thing is not stable, unsafe and only damaging the car. Better use the jack from the onboard-toolset.

That is a terrible jack design.
Too high when compressed, not high enough when expanded, too unstable, too slow and annoying to jack up.

How does one have all these metal working tools, scrap metal, a welder... ect but no jack.... just buy a fucking jack and dont risk your life with something so janky.
You could always use the jack that comes with youe car too...
Could have just bought a 2 ton bottle Jack for $15, save the time and effort, not to mention being more efficient and just as compact.

bottle jack is for temporary lifting but this is sturdy enough to be car stand

No never do this!! This is how people get hurt or killed. If you are too lazy to go and buy a cheap set of jack stands that have been rigorously tested. You shouldn't be anywhere near the underside of a car. Because if you use this "diy" you probably don't know what you are doing and you can do much more harm than good to that car and your wallet.

Not good, the thing was bent at the end and one plank went mysteriously to 3. go buy a jack, they are not expensive. It beats having your brake disc buried in the driveway with your hand under it.

Who cares what other think? I am all about ignoring hater but please don't ignore safety. Not only are you putting yourself at risk but anyone who decides to go and replicate this and ends up overloading it past it's capacity. It's a good design but make sure it can withstand the load capacity. It won't take must to sheer off those threads

Men with a BMW series you don't have a hidráulic jack. I'm from Portugal and I don't use Manualy jack. With a hydraulic jack I made a bearing press. See my videos
This actually is a smart idea. Would you use it in every situation? No... but if your car didn’t come with a jack or you wanted something small to keep in the garage? Yea it looks sturdy enough. You wouldn’t want to lift it much higher though, and you shouldn’t leave the car supported without a jack-stand anyways.
A pair of lubricated washer under the nut and the rising will be easier.

Those welds are horrible. You are likely to have someone hurt themselves. I am a welder professionally, and it would be irresponsible to use that piece of equipment to lift a car. DO NOT TRY THIS YOURSELVES unless you know how to properly weld.

Yo tengo dos de diferentes tamaños (altura) que ocupo como gato para levantar el coche y funcionan muy bien.

IF you are going to use this as a jack, fine, just spend another couple of dollars for a box end/ratchet wrench which would make the process MUCH quicker, plus the base should be at least 12" wide by 1/4" thick steel - but if you're able to afford a Beemer, just drive it down to Harbor Freight and buy a bottle Jack for $15.00, for Christ sake !

Shoddy. Poor weld, dangerous and jacks are never put under the flat part of the sill. The car is always raised with a jack under the designated part of the sill lip - the strongest and safest.

With the time this took and all the tools used you would be better of just buying a car jack or how bout using the one your car came with
It is a great and simple idea !. But , one question :
I didn't see when the thread was made into square washer ?. I think that the treathed must to be all way trought to make it heavy duty , isn't it ?. At least two square threaded , this way the bolt would have a line vertical positional and security ?. ¿ what do you think ?.

Thats a good idea for a level stand but not a jack. It didn't go up high enough so you had to put something under the car to support it while you added extra wood under the jack itself.
Es una idea poco creativa .Esa marca de automóvil , no necesita rueda de auxilio pues está equipado con inflador especial . Es la mejor manera de enseñarle a los delicuentes a robar una rueda de BMW

I'm waiting for you to show us how you got it under there and how after half way up you stacked wood under the jack. You clearly couldn't fit jack under car and then it wasn't tall enough. Good invention but not for your BMW
Unfortunately or fortunately, here in the U.S. we can buy an imported hydraulic bottle jack for a 1/4 of the price we would pay for the steel bolt and nut of that size alone. But it is still a great use idea, if only our steel prices were not so Sky High!

useless . We want to know how it only just fitted with 1 piece of wood at the start, then at the end there was more wood and the "jack" was removed with the bolt half extended.

How many of these did you use to lift the car? One is impossible, how did you put under more wood ;-)
The bold is likely to damage car in this is too short a weight of car I don't think the bold is enough
What about just using the jack the manufacturer supplied

At least use a ratchet wrench. Lol. That's fine on concrete flat place to work. It's be hell on a slope. Or incline.

Дурь...домкрат с таким мелким шагом и из бытового болта из дрянного металла с метрической резьбой не получится. Это, абсолютно, неудобно и небезопасно..Резьба может " слизаться" в любой момент..Вы, там, все тупые что ли?😁
