Texas Master Naturalist, Hill Country Chapter held their monthly Chapter Meeting and AT Presentation on Monday October 24, 2022 and this video was made from the ZOOM recording. Brittany Chesser was the Presenter for our Advanced Training session and the topic of her talk was "Biological Control of Aquatic Vegetation"
The information presented in the video addresses the background of classical and non-classical biological control of well-known aquatic vegetation species. Brittany explained how these controls play a role in aquatic vegetation management. She also included the introduction of insects (weevils, beetles) and herbivorous fish (tilapia sp., triploid grass carp), along with current regulations and research in these areas. The presentation concluded with a question and answer period.
Brittany Chesser is the Aquatic Vegetation Management Program Specialist for Texas A&M Agrilife Extension Service. Being a Delaware native, Brittany graduated from Delaware State University with her B.S. in Natural Resources. She later received her M.S. in Wildlife, Fisheries, and Aquaculture at Mississippi State University working on commercial-scale low-salinity culture techniques for Gulf Killifish.
