Saw the vacation covers for Seymour (Jeff Sears) and Orin/Ensemble (Evan Alexander Smith) a couple weeks ago, and I was blown away! These guys were fantastic to see live...I don't even think I could've been happier with the usual cast. Definitely worth trudging off Broadway for this!
I have been waiting for this since I saw the 86 movie as a kid. I'm planning to fly in from Oslo to see this as soon as possible. Getting goosebumps just from this montage!
These are some parts I really enjoyed! (About some characters like Orin are MY opinion) 0:09 to 0:10 Audrey II was fighting demons💀 0:05 what the fudge is Orin high on 0:14 to 0:15 Audrey II learns direction 0:16 to 0:17 Audrey II is doing lord knows what. (Looks high) 0:22 is interesting 0:23 to 0:25 is um...nice 0:30 Audrey II is yapping and so is Seymour😃 0:37 to 0:38 Audrey II and Seymour are dancing🥳 0:39 ORIN GET UR MUSTY CRUSTY HANDS OFF OF MY CHILD YOU PIECE OF SH-. EVEN UR GIRLFRIEND IS DISGUSTED 0:42 she dead💀 0:43 to 0:44 ORIN I SWEAR TO GOD I'M COMING FOR YOU🤬 0:45 YES GIRLS SLAY HIM💅🏽✨ 0:46-0:47 ORIN I HOPE YOU DIE IN THAT 1:00-1:01 Seymour got the crap scared out of him💀 1:03 to 1:05 bro let Audrey II dance w/ the girls😞 1:18 NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO😭😭 1:35 wow Audrey II was singing😊 The end: DAMN THAT WAS A GOOD ENDING Again this is just my opinion
@@akornfam I saw it in full, Audrey was the only character that they did right (I saw Jana Djenne Jackson play her and she was excellent. I didn't like Tammy Blanchard on the cast album though as she seemed to do what the rest of the production did which I describe below.) The directors took the black comedy material and had it played it as ridiculously as possible, ignoring the author's note of the libretto to play it sincerely, as the humour comes from the contrast between playing it straight and the absurdity of it. When something is played so hard for laughs it just becomes obviously try hard and unfunny
@@seymourkrelborn4780 Now, you've made this same comment on every video posted on this channel, next time they post I don't wanna have to read this comment again? Okay. As for the production, it's the best mix of original intent and new interpretation which is what theater should do, Audrey is probably the biggest change, she's not played anything near to what the libretto says but for some reason that one skips past your radar. I also do not think that you know what slapstick is? Like I think you're confused. Little Shop of Horrors has always been campy and over the top, the original production that Ashman was involved in is fully bootlegged and available and it is even more camp and over the top than this current production. It's a musical that pokes fun at campy B movies. It has to be over the top at times.
@@professorwright1428 The comment isn't the same and it isn't on every video posted on this channel lmao. Idk why you want to be so vindictive. I don't care if you don't want to read it lol. Who are you? The changes to Audrey weren't dire like this core issue. I've seen the original production and this one, and the original isn't as campy as this, especially noticeable in the difference in Seymour (and it wasn't Rob who I saw when I saw it so I'm not just talking about him). There's also the original off-broadway cast audio recorded in the theater and they are less campy than their eventual replacements. New interpretations are allowed to happen and they are open to criticism. I also think that you are under the misconception that slapstick only means cartoonish violence. Stuff like how the Urchins move like TikTok dancers, and how Seymour exaggerates his physical acting over the top like he's almost having a heart attack in his solo part of Feed Me, are very slapstick.
@@seymourkrelborn4780 Yes it is dude, all you comment is about how the libretto says something different. Audrey is such a different character in this, she's not ditsy anymore, she's way less meek, she doesn't have her iconic baby voice and she doesn't even have any aspects of Audrey's iconic look. The original is MORE campy than this, this version doesn't have the Urchin scream riffing during Don't Feed The Plants, it doesn't have Audrey's character voice, the plant doesn't have big kissy lips etc. And there is nothing wrong with camp in this musical, this is a musical that literally has a dramatic chord played before Suppertime for Audrey to pose dramatically to. Criticism should be more than just "the libretto written years ago says...." there needs to be backing which you don't have. You don't know what slapstick is, the literal definition is "a type of physical comedy characterized by broad humour, absurd situations, and vigorous, usually violent action." Little Shop quite literally requires slapstick to begin with but the Urchins choreo being TikTokish to you is just you looking desperately for something to cling to because there's nothing new done with them. Also please rewatch the bootleg you watched of this production, Rob McClure is the only one to do the seething thing. Honestly dude, I just don't think you like the stage version of Little Shop, this production is aggressively traditional excluding Audrey.
