i’ve been in such a reading slump this past week but hearing you talk about these books so passionately has inspired me to read today! p.s: i know it’s kinda basic but i read me before you in high school and it absolutely broke me
I read the way I used to be and I was sobbing. I could relate to her story and the way she would self sabotage those were two main points that made me cry and destroyed me.
i finished The Way I Used To Be in a day. It was amazing and i was sobbing. even though i couldnt directly relate to Eden's story which I mean thank god, no one should ever be through what she had to go through. I did feel for her obviously and especially on how she felt alone or unheard with her family and her anger. I love how it was written in four parts because we really are going along with Eden and her processing what happened to her and how she wants to change. I loved this book and I initially read it because of Speak which was another book that I fell in love with.
a year late in joining the conversation on this but Monday's Not Coming by Tiffany D. Jackson had me sobbing for a whole night and I barely hear people talking about it. It's such a devastating story.
Still Alice by Lisa Genova, All The Bright Places by Jessica Niven, Pachinko by Min Jin Lee, Then She Was Gone by Lisa Jewell, The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by TJR
A book that made me SOB was ‘They Both Die At The End’ admittedly the writing isn’t amazing or anything but the story was just so beautiful. Love crying in books to release all my compartmentalised emotions 🥲
Love theses recs! I love hard hitting stories. You should check out “the girl with the dragon tattoo”. It’s very emotionally hard to read. I struggled a bit with the mass amounts of context but it was worth it for sure. Only read the first 3 books for that series but they were all 5 stars.
The books that made me cry are: A walk to remember Ugly Love It ends with us The Book Thief The Little Prince The boys of Pal street (p.s. I read it in my mother language so I don't know how it's named in English)
Ooof the way I used to be truly devastated me. I think I’m going to read Permanent Record in the near future & im more intrigued now definitely going to reference this video when I need a good cry read
I love how open you are about your life!! And also so funny hahaha. I finished normal people yesterday and just 🥺🥺🥺 i have been thinking about it all day, i felt so much for the characters. 🥲
The Ballroom by Anna Hope destroyed me … I couldn’t even finish the story’s denouement (although I spoiled it for myself - it was just too hard to read word by word 😮💨) and then I had a dream where I was trying to help the MC’s sort out their main obstacle lol 😂 no love story has ever done that to me before, not even R+J or the Titanic movie 🤷♀️
I recently read author Hannah Bents debut novel ‘when things are alive they hum’ I was sobbing like a baby. This book follows the lives of two sisters Marlowe and Harper from Hong Kong. Harper is diagnosed with “the up syndrome” as she calls it… she is also dying from a congenital heart disease. This book is so bitter sweet and really shows how powerful the relationship between two sisters is.
And Every Morning the Way Home Gets Longer and Longer by Fredrik Backman isn’t even 100 pages long and it tore out my heart!! I would definitely give it a try!
Forty Rooms by Olga Grushin ... I made the mistake of finishing it on Christmas eve and my holiday was wrecked. For anyone afraid of living a meaningless life and having no one care about you in the end.... this book will shake you to your core 😅 loved the video!
You are seriously so perfect. You’re so beautiful, an intellectual, funny and have an overall great personality. Also as a long time subscriber I’ve read most of these books because of your recommendations!
Love me a good cry and a book that I always remember just completely crushing my soul was, *The Light Between the Oceans* 😭 This one part was just so heart wrenching and I literally had to put the book down and compose myself
Random: it would be so much fun to watch you and Chloe do a make up video that somehow incorporates your favorite books, just thought of it while watching your “first sentence challenge” video. You guys are awesome 💖
the strange and beautiful sorrows of ava lavender!!! (i see it behind you in every video 😂) it’s one of my favorite books of all time with some of the best writing i’ve ever seen and a heart wrenching ending. major trigger warning for a very graphic rape scene at the end of the book though.
i remember that video where u read how to make friends with the dark and i read it bc of u awhile ago and it broke my heart and i still think about it all the time
I have never cried watching TV or reading books. So I'll be trying to read some of these books to attain that lofty goal. The only thing I have watched and cried are some Dr Who edits on TH-cam and I felt like I was on the verge of crying at the start of Lisa Jewell's new book but it didn't 'give'.
I read Normal People and My Dark Vanessa just this year and both made me cryyy. One of the most saddest books I've ever read is A Little Life by Hanya Yanagihara. I cried in public multiple times. People would come up to me on the train and tell me they read it years ago and they're still thinking about it.
I read Never Let Me Go earlier this year and I was really disappointed. The writing style was very removed and there was no emotion to it IMO 😞 I really wanted to love it because the premise was SO SO interesting but I just hated the writing.
Also movies that will destroy you: dead poets society (robin williams) , awakenings (robert deniro), the father (anthony hopkins) aka movies with phenomenal actors who were born to act
Honestly .... a man called ove GOT ME GOOD! Ugh cried so much. I feel like not a lot of people cried but I did LOL it was so sad but wholesome at a the same time.
I'm reading Normal People now and I can't put it down !!! I want to read conversations with friends but I can't find if there are any graphic trigger warnings in it ?
i think the main tw's for conversations with friends is maybe cheating, depression and blood? that's all i can think off the top of my head cos i read it a while ago x
I don’t know if I should be sad or to laugh that a book made you so upset you took a day off work 😅 🖤 Also “Girl, Woman, Other” made me ugly cry twice 💧
JAIME IF I LIKE A GOOD CRY BUT GOOD BOOK READ SUICIDE NOTES ITS SO GOOD AND THE ENDING 🤩🤩🤩 also tw for attempted suicide, suicide, psych ward, death, medication that’s all that I can’t think of rn
“I love a good cry and especially when it has nothing to do with my own life”pahahaha that’s me😅❤️
exactly x
i’ve been in such a reading slump this past week but hearing you talk about these books so passionately has inspired me to read today!
p.s: i know it’s kinda basic but i read me before you in high school and it absolutely broke me
aw love that!
The Perks of Being a Wallflower really affected me. I read it multiple times and have cried every single time at the end.
I read the way I used to be and I was sobbing. I could relate to her story and the way she would self sabotage those were two main points that made me cry and destroyed me.

the song of Achilles made me sob so much 😩
A little life is the only one that still stays with me. I read it more than a year and half ago
You've probably heard of this one before but the only book that has ever made me sob is A Little Life ... such a hard book to read
a year late in joining the conversation on this but Monday's Not Coming by Tiffany D. Jackson had me sobbing for a whole night and I barely hear people talking about it. It's such a devastating story.

that one is definitely on my tbr!
Love theses recs! I love hard hitting stories. You should check out “the girl with the dragon tattoo”. It’s very emotionally hard to read. I struggled a bit with the mass amounts of context but it was worth it for sure. Only read the first 3 books for that series but they were all 5 stars.
The Astonishing Colour Of After made me cry like a baby just because it was triggering to me. It was a good book, very flowery and poetic.
The books that made me cry are:
A walk to remember
Ugly Love
It ends with us
The Book Thief
The Little Prince
The boys of Pal street (p.s. I read it in my mother language so I don't know how it's named in English)
Ooof the way I used to be truly devastated me.
I think I’m going to read Permanent Record in the near future & im more intrigued now
definitely going to reference this video when I need a good cry read
"All the bright places" made me cry for days..
And yess "My dark Vanessa" made me feel so disturbed and depressed
I love how open you are about your life!! And also so funny hahaha. I finished normal people yesterday and just 🥺🥺🥺 i have been thinking about it all day, i felt so much for the characters. 🥲
aw thank you! and yes normal people!!!!
A little life by Hanya Yanagihara. This book absolutely destroyed me. Also probably the best book I've read so far.
I was sobbing on my bathroom floor after A Little Life. I still think about it daily. Such a powerful book.
i can tell how much you cried during the sun is also a star , i’ve read it and i cried flood of tears in my pillow
I recommend If I Stay by Gayle Foreman. I sobbed! Also Where She Went is the sequel to it.
Also, it's poetry but super short - Corazon by Yesika Salgado
And Every Morning the Way Home Gets Longer and Longer by Fredrik Backman isn’t even 100 pages long and it tore out my heart!! I would definitely give it a try!
The Lovely War made me cry for literally hours after I finished it if you like a good soldier/war romance and Greek gods
Forty Rooms by Olga Grushin ... I made the mistake of finishing it on Christmas eve and my holiday was wrecked. For anyone afraid of living a meaningless life and having no one care about you in the end.... this book will shake you to your core 😅 loved the video!
One of the first books that made me cy that is alottttt like the book thief is Between Shades of Grey by ruta sepeteys - i reccomend it to you Jamie!!
A Man Called Ove by Fredrik Backman had me repeatedly tearing up.
I’ve had this book for years and haven’t started it. I don’t know why!! I need to
I just finished Sadie yesterday and it was definitely really sad
Part 2 for sure!!!
The book thief is my favvvvvv and the movie is stunning as well 😍
The Story of Lucy Gault, by William Gault, ripped me up. Saddest book I have ever read.
Thanks for this video, and the recs.

Jaime talking about books for 24 minutes straight.. my day’s been made😌🤍
Random: it would be so much fun to watch you and Chloe do a make up video that somehow incorporates your favorite books, just thought of it while watching your “first sentence challenge” video.

The way I Used to Be had me sobbing.
PERMANENT RECORD MADE ME CRY AS WELL!!!!!
I remember that video haha was that not the first arc you got? wow, it's been a while 😂 i still need to read it
Also the most devastating book I've read was probably Beartown, tw for sexual assault, but it was so good imo, had me sobbing for 2 hours
I read Normal People and My Dark Vanessa just this year and both made me cryyy.
One of the most saddest books I've ever read is A Little Life by Hanya Yanagihara. I cried in public multiple times. People would come up to me on the train and tell me they read it years ago and they're still thinking about it.

My dark Vanessa was really good. It is really sad.

Know My Name was the first book I cried while reading.

I read Never Let Me Go earlier this year and I was really disappointed. The writing style was very removed and there was no emotion to it IMO 😞 I really wanted to love it because the premise was SO SO interesting but I just hated the writing.
