Ah thanks so much. Please do more vids on this model. I have an old Starbucks branded one and have not found any repair/maintenance guides for it.

I take this descaling business very seriously especially since I don't know what I am doing. PLEASE hold the camera steady when filming and keep it on the machine. I am not interested in seeing Bunny do her face. However, I do appreciate the information you provided.

I love the filming technique - AND the banter and the Bunny faces... This is what has made us feel like all of you are people that we know. And THAT is good marketing. Don't change a thing. You are helpful, friendly and have become OUR coffee equipment go-to people. Brilliant!

Should you also be pulling the descaling solution through the group head?

    • @SeattleCoffeeGear

You can send the descaling liquid through the group head, but if you do you want to make sure to rinse through the group head with water so that the acidic flavor of the solution does not stay in the group head. You also want to use an angled brush to clean the group head, removing the screen so that you can get inside there to clean. - Steven

Seattle Coffee Gear I'm currently bidding on a Via Venezia on ebay, how is the "scraper tool" used on this machine?

helpfulnatural Forgive me, but would you mind specifying what "scraper tool" you are referring to? Thank you! :-) ~Sarah

Seattle Coffee Gear Sure, it's a black plastic device that is barrel shaped and flat on both ends. On one end, presumably the top, there is a short metal tool that looks kind of like a phillips head screwdriver. It's listed as a "scraper tool" or "brew head cleaner".

helpfulnatural I see! It sounds like you are referring to the tool that use to come with the machine. If this is the case, one end is used to unscrew the screen and the other end is used to clean (or scrap) the brew head. I spoke with Gail about this one (it's a little before my time here at SCG) and she said the scraping end should fit right into the brew head area where you then twist the tool to clean the brew head. I hope this helps! ~Sarah

Great video ladies! How often would you say a machine needs to be descaled?

Check their other video on replacing the gasket and screen. Very informative. But I'll summarize.
He says descale every 3 months if using daily, every 6 months if less.
      Change screen/gasket every 3rd descaling.

honestly I usually love their videos but this one: (1) the camera keeps jumping up and down it's really annoying and (2) instead of looking at the face I would rather see what she's doing, and also it's better to repeat clearly the times, the amounts of water to run through...

Just curious if the women that shot these videos know why they have such a bad ratio of likes to unlikes..or if they even care? Ive only watched a few of the videos, and I definitely get why you have so many unlikes.
Not that you care or that it will change anything. Some suggestions.
Shaky camera work . I'm not saying get a tripod, but try to focus on keeping it steady.
Way too much personality and jokes..we get it. You love the camera and love hearing yourselves talk. Go do theater! This is supposed to be an instructional video on descaling. Not a video on watching two women high on caffeine making faces and jokes. To sum it all; focus on what the video is about.
    Good effort though..
