  • We took the White's 24k and GMX and ALL 4 interchangeable coils and tested them on 4 different sized Gold nuggets buried in the Mojave Desert (which is highly mineralized).
    The results were Surprizing!

    Good demo, thanks for taking the time to do these, looks like smaller coils might be better.

    Thanks for making this video. Helped me decide whether or not I'll be buying the larger coil for my GMX Sport (not). But at the same time, I learned more about how to operate it from you than from even the literature that came with it. Cheers!

    Rob, why offset to ground balance to 1? You didn't say why....since the GMX is pretty much the same as 24K would you recommend setting plus 1 on 24K as well.

      I did a test with a piece of gold behind 4 inches of quartz and the 1 worked better.

  • @robmart8255
    @robmart8255 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I wonder if the coils would have performed better if after every time you changed sensitivity or gain you ground balanced the detector. Just an observation.

    • @spuddiggers7899
      @spuddiggers7899  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good point. I did have the Ground Balance (GB) in the locked mode. It does remember the GB, if I was getting excessive ground noise I would have re ground balanced. Thank you for the comment.

    Is the 4x6 only available with the GMX purchase?
    I have the 8x14, but haven't tried it yet... Hoping to get some deeper targets :-)

      Mark, I'm not sure about the 4x6 coil. I know that White's has a going on right now with the GMX. It comes with 2 coils. You may want to check with your local dealer. HH

    I'm looking for information on the Gem State Club. All I find is a Facebook site with very little information. There's no contact info, no shown location of the club (what town is it near) and no schedule or location of meetings. I don't use Facebook so I can't get this information. I'm looking for their website.

      @@spuddiggers7899 Thanks for passing that website along but the problem continues. Nowhere on that website is there any information about meeting times and location. There are no email addresses or phone numbers listed or any information on who to contact or how to contact anyone connected with that club. It's a fairly useless website. I'm guessing this club must now be defunct or not very active.

      We haven’t been meeting recently due to the Quarantine. We usually meet the 3rd Thursday of the month from 6-8 at Idaho Pizza in Meridian on Fairview. I believe that we are set to resume meetings in July.

    so... coil 14" is the best for this detector?

    • @spuddiggers7899
      @spuddiggers7899  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It depends on what you are looking for. I prefer the 6" round

    • @stu3775
      @stu3775 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you want to comb a large area looking for only bigger nuggets than the 14" is probably the way to go.

    I must have blinked, I didn't see the round 6", 24 K coil tested. What is the smallest grain size it can detect? Please repeat the test 3 more times using all 5 coils with gold buried 10", 20" and 30 ". The 1" test proves nothing. Do these 3 rounds using the Factory Defaults.
