    Useful short hunt, demonstrating the depth capability.

      Good luck! Get ready for some deep digging. Keep the GEB off for maximum depth.

    Dude, I have the old big box TDI (TDI Pro). These machines are nasty powerful but you work your ass off digging. I love mine.

    Why so many knobs to adjust? After you learn the detector, are there knobs that you don't touch anymore?

    • @DetectorComparisons
      @DetectorComparisons  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Absolutely. If you go to the same place often, you'll find you don't have to adjust all the knobs, you could just leave them alone. All the knobs do serve a purpose though.

    Nice to see another TDI on the beach.

      You should produce the TDI Pro again and incorporated at least the noise reduction used on the SL. Reg Sniff did some outstanding work on the TDI range detectors. It would be nice to see all of that built in a new generation of the TDI Pro. You would also create a hard time for ML.

    • @DetectorComparisons
      @DetectorComparisons  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The TDI S/L at best gets about 70% of the depth you get on the TDI Pro.  When doing side by side tests, it is more inline with the Duel Field Surf PI in wet salt water sand.  Here is a side by side with other machine vs the TDI Pro th-cam.com/video/3pNtGN6rWYk/w-d-xo.html

    Good finds, i have the surf pi pro and i find canadian dimes at up to 12 inches easly, our dimes are steel, all your digs wernt that deep about 8 inches, how much better depth do you get, on the surf pi pro i put the gain over 3/4 and put the threshhold a little lower than nornal, this makes less flase signals when raising the coil on the wet sand, at this setting signals bang loud over 1 foot on small coins or gold

    • @DetectorComparisons
      @DetectorComparisons  11 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I use my Surfmaster PI Duel Field when diving or wading deep and falsing is never an issue even at high gain.. When working wet sand or shallow wading, the TDI Pro is much deeper than the Surfmaster PI. I have done side by side comparisons and clearly repeatable signals with the TDI did not even register on my Surfmaster PI. I called Whites to find out why and spoke with Todd in engineering; he claims the TDI Pro puts out a lot more power.

      Mark Gillespie No. The stock does so well for me that I have not tried any other coils on my TDI Pro

    Just wondering what the difference would be with a DD on the TDI?

    • @DetectorComparisons
      @DetectorComparisons  9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      240X The mono coils go a little deeper. DD will give you good coverage and is also good on small targets.

    i would really love to try a whites tdi on my local beach but at present dont have money for another detector....i have a whites dfx which is a great machine but tdi seems to have raw depth.

    • @DetectorComparisons
      @DetectorComparisons  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      The DFX is real good machine but its not Pulse Induction so you won't get the depth as you would with a TDI Pro or other PI detector.

    have you tried the OZ 12" mono coil from whites?

      Terry Poole I use the Stealth scoop and also the T-Rex scoop. In this video, it is the Stealth. Never tried anything but the stock, I don't think I want to dig much deeper!! LOL

    when the tdi pro detects a nickle at say 18" is that a whisper small signal like a slight change in threshold ???

    • @DetectorComparisons
      @DetectorComparisons  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, it is s whisper signal and you can see it here on this video th-cam.com/video/3pNtGN6rWYk/w-d-xo.html

  • @tasteegold7772

    .DC caught your comment below saying the tdi went deeper in salt sand than the surfmaster pi pro which i planned on picking up so if you could give some details as to how much/little difference in inches between the two i'd appreciate it..measured my excal with 10"coil between 11 and 12 inches with quarters in wet sand so if the pi pro cant go deeper than that i dont see the point

    • @DetectorComparisons
      @DetectorComparisons  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Here is a test I did showing side by side comparisons th-cam.com/video/3pNtGN6rWYk/w-d-xo.html
      In terms of depth, where the Excal starts loosing the signal (11-12 inch quarter), the TDI Pro or ATX would be blasting loud.

    Anyone s thoughts on the Whites TDI and can you get a bigger coil for it

  • @backstreetboy67
    @backstreetboy67 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    what sort of depth can you get with say 18/22ct larger gold rings with the tdi ????

    • @DetectorComparisons
      @DetectorComparisons  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      18"-20" and deeper depending on how large of a ring.

    • @backstreetboy67
      @backstreetboy67 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      thats very impressive depth on gold rings....i guess a nickle would be around the same conductivity as a 14k gold ring.

    Have you ever ran a TDI SL on the beach. Would it work well also in your opinion?

    • @DetectorComparisons
      @DetectorComparisons  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      The TDI S/L get comparable depth to the Duel Field. I have tested them both side by side.

    • @TonyTreasureHunterNasr
      @TonyTreasureHunterNasr 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The duel tone is a great feature. Ground balance off TDI SL is deeper. TDI SL is killer on the beach but if your in a iron filled area get ready to work.

    I have a dual field that I regularly dig clad at 12-20", not sure I want to go any deeper.

    • @TonyTreasureHunterNasr
      @TonyTreasureHunterNasr 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's not the depth so much as the increased sensitivity to small low conductors. So you may find more fine gold (necklaces and earrings) at 8-10inches where it is likely missed by other machines.

    Hello, in what depth Whites TDI Pro can detect a 20×20 object?

    • @DetectorComparisons
      @DetectorComparisons  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      A sand scoop which is about 14" long can be heard about 5 feet away. Larger object will be heard deeper.

  • @LostMines
    @LostMines 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    can you discriminate iron with it

    • @DetectorComparisons
      @DetectorComparisons  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Unfortunately there is no ability to discriminate with PI machines. The ATX can identify shallow iron but once you're over 6", the iron ID does not work.

      With the big 20 coil I the Garrett atx goes even deeper and still is stinky good on small targets . The only big prob is it s weight ,😣😣😥. The TDI Sl is my choice for daily hunting because of its light weight and stable threshold .
