My daughter has her grandmother's original Barbie dream house. For a cardboard house it's actually pretty sturdy. She's the third kid to play with it and it's in surprisingly good condition.

The Tammy doll is Sindy. Pedigree Toys licensed Tammy from Ideal and brought her over to the UK and made her more British and changed her name. The dolls are identical and use the same molds. They both even use the same 'the doll you love to dress' tag line.

Well, that explains why Sindy looked so familiar. I'm not positive, but I'm pretty sure that my Mary Poppins doll (1965) was made from the same mold as Tammy/Sindy.

There was also a series of dolls called LITTLE KIDDLES. I had the KIDDLE Doll in the locket (LUCKY LOCKET KIDDLE) that could be worn as a necklace as well as displayed on a table.
I had the locket Liddle Kiddle doll too. It was a purple locket, mine was brunette, with hair down to her feet. I loved those dolls!
I loved Liddle Kiddles! There were also animiddle kiddles - I had Dainty Deer and Tiny Tiger, and perfume kiddles that came in cologne shaped plastic bottles. I had Apple Blossom.

I had a Lucky Locket Kiddle too. I remember getting it in my stocking. It was so cute and I remember the hair curled at her ankles! Fun memory.
Yes, I adored the Liddle Kiddles. They had several sizes, the larger Kiddles were even used as the same heads of the Tutti friends that Mattel made.
As a child growing up in the 50s and 60s, I love this series!. My daughter grew up in the 80s, and I hope you will make an episode of these. ...Cabbage Patch Kids, Strawberry Shortcake, Barbies, Rainbow Bright, My Child Dolls. Ahh...these shows take me back to my childhood..how I loved dolls, (and still do). I am now buying articulated Barbies and Licca dolls for my grand-daughter! Keep these shows coming, they are wonderful! Thank you 😊

Also popular baby doll was called Thumbelina. Pebbles and Bam Bam dolls. Still have my Kissy doll, works too! Tressy had a knob or button on her back to adjust the hair length. Yes the dream house was cardboard. Remember having to assemble all the furniture from flat pieces. Thanks for the memories❤️

Wow those Barbie dolls that mimicked Jackie's style are so beautiful! I love an elegantly dressed Barbie. Sindy is another line that I find quite cute, especially her modern iteration (though I live overseas and they don't ship to me 😭). Licca-chan has quickly climbed the ranks to be one of my favorites, I'm a sucker for that old Shoujo face and all her cute outfits, she has me obsessed.
"Slug bug" is a game played on car trips. When a Volkswagen Beetle is spotted along the way, the first person to see it will "slug" (punch/hit) another person in the car after saying "slug bug".
Did British people not do it?
I'm in America and we say or in my family we say punch bug when we see a beetlebug on the road.

I still have Tutti. Never realised she was so short a while on the market. I have her red print dress and blue tights, other wise all her clothes are ones I made myself, which is chiefly what we did with all of our dolls.
I had a Tutti. I got her as a reward for stopping my thumb-sucking. Don't think I had many (if any beyond the original) clothes for her. I do remember she wasn't jointed, but had a wire "skeleton," which started breaking rather quickly.
In the sixties, the troll dolls were called Wishniks. Many had a long topknot ponytail. You were supposed to hold them by the ponytail in one hand, rub their belly with the other hand, and make a wish.
Smaller dolls were also very popular in the 60s. Liddle Kiddles came in many varieties, and even in jewelry like large lockers, small pins, bracelets, and pins, all with tiny dolls in them! There were also Dolly Darlings, and the Hi Heidi doll and her friends that came in carrying cases. Chrissy with growing hair was my favorite non Barbie doll as a child! They also made several friends and a cousin for her.

I recall a doll line by the name of Liddle Kiddles. They were small dolls that came inside little bottles and items , like flowers.They were sold by the Mattel company.
Yes, I had Honeysuckle and the deluxe Cinderella, complete with ball gown and pumpkin carriage.
I'm surprised you didn't include Little Miss No Name by Mattel, which is without a doubt, one of the creepiest dolls!

Slugbug is a game you play in the car. If you see a VWbug you yell slugbug or punchbug and hit the other person in the car in the arm. Usually this person was a sibling lol. I still have my childhood Crissy doll and her hair still works.
Wow the video brought back fond memories. I'm showing my age, but I had some of these dolls. I was given my first Barbie in 1962 (I was 5 that year) and she was the red head bubble cut doll (I still have her). I had twist and turn Barbie, Fashion Queen (I still have her as well) a Skipper, Tutti (she was fun to pose), Tressy, Tammy, Crissy, Julia (the 1960's television show; another "star" doll that Mattel made), I'm surprised you didn't mention her. I also had Twiggy as well. The 60's was a good decade for dolls. I even had a Flatsy doll and I would "borrow" my nephews G.I. Joe so Barbie could go on a date. I had a Ken but I thought Joe was cooler than Ken. LOL. Barbie is a year younger that I am. I was one year old when Barbie was "born". She was "born" in March and so was I. LOL

One of my favorites from the era is Peteena. One of the first, if not the first, anthropomorphic fashion dolls (a precursor to Pinkie Cooper). She's a poodle! Her ad jingle always gets stuck in my head. She was made in 1966 and has really cute fashion packs!
The Crissy doll had a smaller cousin named Cricket too.
And Velvet
Mattel had two dolls that were my favorites back then; Dancerina (the ballet doll) and Tippy Toes - she rode her own bike!
I had 3 of the 60's Barbie dolls all with plastic hair. I had 3 wigs, blonde, brunette, and black. Also the black stands, a black circle carrying case with a half zipper. My Mom was a phenomenal knitter and would knit the dolls little sweaters from spare yarn. The sweaters fit perfectly too. Then when I turned 12, my Mom told me to give them to my Godmother's first granddaughter. 😩
Fun GI Joe fact: the popularity of GI Joe started to decrease in the mid or late 60s due to protest against war. They changed up their line for a moment and the action figures went from solder to like park ranger or something like that.
A "slug bug" is a Volkswagen Beetle. It refers to the game, sometimes called "Punch Buggy" where you hit the person in the car next to you every time you see a Beetle, or "bug", car. To 'slug" someone was also a way to say punch back in the day.
I had Flatsy dolls! They were too cute. Kiddle dolls were also very popular. They had articulated legs so they could ride bikes etc...
Crissy is my favorite from the 60s by far. I love the face and body sculpts and the fashions! I'm most excited for the 80s edition because of the Teddy Ruxpin doll. I hope you include him on the list because he's super sweet and endlessly iconic. I know he's more of a Teddy bear but he had a sort of dress up element with different fashions and accessories that were made for him. Overall, he's my favorite piece of 80s memorabilia 🥰🐻
I loved my Chrissy doll too, but wanted the blonde Velvet doll, which I never got.
I remember getting my first Barbie, probably in 1963 or 1964. My dad bought it for me in Alexander’s department store. I got the gold lame cocktail dress and a gray fur stole. To be honest, she looked like a teeny tiny call girl. I loved her to pieces.

I think the Littlechap Family dolls were introduced in the early 60s, too.

@@wizzwamf I know. That's likely why they weren't as popular. They likely would have been more popular if the parent dolls were Barbie and Ken size and the daughters, Skipper and Stacie size.
I was a child in the 60’s, I had a lot of the Barbies, I had the original Troll dolls, I had Chatty Baby, I had the Twiggy doll. This video wad a walk down memory lane for me.
I still have my Tammy and Tressy dolls, as well as bendable legs Barbie and her friends Francie and Casey, and the bendable Tutti from the mid 60s. As for small dolls, there were Lil' Kiddles that were about 2 inches tall and came with their own house. The chatty doll I had was a Chatty Baby with dark hair, but she got thrown away when she couldn't talk anymore. I also had a GI Joe because I liked him more than Ken.
I'd love to see a video on your Licca-chan collection. I have like 20 including some of the really tall ones that came out in recent years.

Oh, I was given a wig Barbie. I never knew she had that interesting outfit; I had inherited her from some family friends. I was quite young then, and the dolls did not survive me. They were played with until they disintegrated, though, so it's all good.

I had Mod Francie, Twist and Turn Barbie, Crissy, and one that I don't see on the video--Timey Tell (she had a watch, etc., but maybe she was an early 70's doll). Loved your video!
I still have my Times Tell doll except her legs broke. I need to get her fixed. I think she was released in the early 70's.

The Christy doll i used to own along with Velvet, I think they were sisters. Christy was around 20 inches tall and Velvet was a little shorter.
I used to have the twist and turn Barbie as well but sadly I gave Christy,Velvet and the twist and turn Barbie to my sisters and I never saw them again. I miss having them. Great video as usual!

I had a doll in the 60's called Baby First Step. She was about 2 ft high with straight blond hair. She ran on batteries and when you switched her on she walked by kind of shuffling her feet. Good times!

I had a Taking Barbie, brunette, from 1968, which I loved. I still remember the case she came in. Yes, she had cool friends, like Casey and P.J. and the Julia doll too.

I wanted Barbie so bad, my mom put her foot down, so I had Tammy who came out quite early and her sister Pepper. But grandpa got me Skipper and Tutti. I didn't have a troll, my friend had a whole bunch and my grandpa bought me a Moongoon, who was colored green with ruby hair definitely a knockoff.
I had an early Chatty Cathy. My mom had a Talking Chatty and two lovely Vogue Burkett dolls. My cousins had a Giggles and a Kissy. My mom vetoed Chrissy. All my dolls got lost in several moves across country.
But now I made up for that, and I have my family of 60s Barbies and friends, and I have Chrissy and Velvet and the AA Chrissy. And two early Chatties.

I am excited for dolls of the 80s because that is when I was in my prime doll phase as a child. Some of my favorite Barbies! Angel Face Barbie, Twirly Curls Barbie, Crystal Barbie, Pretty in Pink Barbie. I am also excited to see and remember dolls I have forgotten.
The bendable knee Barbie was fun but the knees sadly broke fairly easily :(

Tiffany Taylor (never had one as a child but now I have several), Dawn (still have my Dale plus everybody else now too, haha), both come to mind at opposing ends of the measurement scale. I was into tiny a lot, still am - and you really must look into Liddle Kiddles, my passion since I was a toddler! I collect them etc.
Tressy is both a diminutive of Theresa, and also refers to her tresses (hair)

Oh what fun! Love your presentation! Slug-Bug!! That's one I haven't heard for ages! It was a car ride game based on tormenting your siblings and friends (are there any car games that aren't?). The idea was to spot a Volkswagen Beetle car before any other kid riding with you. Then you got to call out "Slug-Bug!" and punch a companion on the shoulder. You weren't supposed to punch hard but you know how kids are.... The things we did before cell phones or in car entertainment systems! Of course you could always play with your Barbie if your mom let you bring her along for the ride. Thanks for the trip down memory lane!
The Pee Wee doll of 1965 it was popular about the same time as the troll dolls.The Pee Wee doll was bout 3 1/2 inches tall and it was great fun to make clothes for them.
I got Tressy for Christmas one year around 1964/5. I adored her. You pulled out her extra hair from the top to style it then pressed a button (on her back or tummy ?) to get the hair back inside. Thankyou for this memory.
Was Penny Brite her little sister? I didn't have a Tressy, but I had a Penny Brite with growing hair.
Giggles eyes look like that because she's suppose to be acting nutty. Her eyes could go left, right or crossed. I believe her head tilted too. Wow, u r bringing back memories 🎉
Cricket was a popular girls name in the 60s. It came from the hippie movement like rainbow. Rainy day. Butterfly. Cloud. Flower. Beatle .etc

OMG!!!! I've been trying for years to find out the name of Popi! I had this doll and loved actually making the clothes. I learned to sew not long after and that doll definitely was a great learning tool to teach about sewing and fashion design. Thank you!!
Tutti is Stacie she had a name change just like Kelly who became Chelsea this was explained several times. Barbie sisters are Skipper Stacie ( Tutti) brother Todd Chelsea ( Kelly ) and baby Krissy
Don't forget Scooter, who was Skipper's friend. She had long dark brown hair.
A doll with a color-changing gimmick being advertised in a black and white TV ad gave me a good chuckle. They still did a good job indicating the color change given the limitations, but sure it hits different in a technicolor screen-filled 2023.
« Cricket » is also a famous character in the soap opera « the Young and the Restless », so I guess it’s not that uncommon of a name in the US.

I had a Popi. The wigs were soft plastic and worked well. The clothes were fun and really did work as advertised but they had a funny smell. The Barbie type body was a cheaper, thin plastic and just seemed cheap.
My mother had (and still has!) Crissy and Velvet dolls when she was a kid, and I admit, I kinda took a liking to them! When I was a teenager I used them as my audience during my piano sessions lol
Chrissy had a little sister named Cinnamon. There was a marketing campaign to name her.

In USA, MATTEL Toys had battery operated dolls that did things like splash water in her tub (Baby Splash) or spun around because she was a Ballerina.
Yes, I had Baby's Hungry, whose mouth would open and close as she "ate" her pretend food. Until her D-cell batteries ran down - then she was pretty creepy until her batteries were replaced.

Great Video! Liddle Kiddles had /have quite a following. These mattel dolls were introduced in the 60s. (a bunch of kiddle klones came after their release) A few of the kiddles were reintroduced in the 70s and the 90s. Thank you for creating these doll videos💜

I have giggles!!! She’s the sweetest little doll she looks adorable in person and when you move her arms her eyes move left and right but if u slightly squeeze her arms she goes cross eyed which is adorable ☺️
i'm loving this series!! i'm actually really excited for the 80s! i had a ton of handme down barbie clothes from then and often didn't even know which pieces went together, so recognizing the clothes & seeing what mattel thought went together vs what I thought is always so much fun!

Really cool video and it does bring back memories. Like the first Barbies, I also had many of the 60s ones, and I had the Chrissy with the growing hair. She was so fun. I had some trolls, but our family got weird and decided that they were bad dolls, and took them away from my brother and I. We never got them again. I didn't have any of the baby dolls as I liked fashion dolls better. Almost all of the baby dolls were reminescent of American Girl to me. Maybe they were her precursor or something. I'm looking forward to your next decades video :)

Barbie was the first doll I remember buying with my allowance. 1960. Now I have many, many. Started collecting as an adult over 30 years ago. The first was like my original ponytail which is long gone. I actually won a Kissy doll when I was 10.
Cricket, I think, was a character on a TV show. Slug bug was when you saw a vw, shout out slug bug.

Love your channel and loved playing with my sister's Barbie dolls and their fab-u-lash outfits, as well as Babs, Tressy (big fave with her hair that grew), and Tammy dolls. Finally my parents gave me a GI Joe in 1964. Like you, I was not enchanted by such a macho doll but even then I knew he and Ken made a cute couple. Cheers~

I actually have an original 1962 Barbie dreamhouse, its a little banged up but not bad for its age! An online friend sweetly bought it for me and mailed it to me!
I have always loved Trolls dolls,although not the ones made today and I didn't like the movie, but the ones from the 90s are my fave and I had so many when I was a little girl. I had no idea they originally came out in the 60s. You learn something new every day! 😊
Hi, l'm in Australia and some of the dolls you had in the US we did'nt get here, but we had plenty of other dolls. We had the big English Pedigree dolls here that were out in the early 1960's and in 1974 we had a big Baby Chrissie doll that had the long pull out hair, so you could make her hair long or short. I have always loved dolls, especially the baby dolls. ❤
