This run uses the same strats as my previous one, but with more micro-optimization, especially in menuing and jump-roll movement.
The biggest problem in the run was mistaking an energy drink for a holy water when fighting Kana. It made me 2-shot Kana's first phase and 3-shot the last boss. I estimate the loss caused by this to something like 5 seconds.
At this point, the category is getting really competitive. There's not much room for error if you want the first place. But I'm sure we'll find better strats at some point in the future.
I'd still like to make tools to enable longer categories in the future ("Collect all equipments" sounds fun), but that's probably still ways off.

Casual (or Accessible) is quite a struggle. First 15 minutes in Hardcore and I'm already dead.😂
In Boss Mode, I lost count how many times I kept dying but still managed to get to the ending.
How much more on Recommended, Veteran and this, HARDCORE difficulty? And speedrun?
This permadeath difficulty is beyond sane playing. And this video deserves to be a world record.
Thanks! There's no real reason why beyond personal preference, but Hardcore mode is currently the most disputed category for speedruns. And even though we know the game by heart after practicing for a while, we still lose a lot of runs to random enemies!
A Japanese speedrunner named yokkora has the world record on every category now, he's super good. You can check out his runs on speedrun.com if you'd like.
I also have a commented Boss mode speedrun, if you haven't watched that, it's very different and really fun. ;)

The only game I did a speedrun on was "Fight 'n' Rage".
I beat 1 record of a TH-camr (1 out of 3 game characters)
I used this as a guide for my hardcore run, since it’s a year old some things got patched such as you going out of bounds and destroying Yuri extremely fast but otherwise it was extremely helpful
Thanks for watching, good to hear that it helped! I don't think any of the glitches have been patched out on PC, but some things definitely are different in the console version, so that might explain the differences you've been seeing.
Check out the boss mode runs as well if you haven't, they're really fun (and even more broken on console).

Hardcore Any% is definitely the main speedrun category for this game, so it's the most disputed and the most optimized. We don't have any Normal/Veteran runs on the leaderboard yet, but SebK has a 22:20 on Easy Any% if you'd like to watch that.

Fact: throwing a ham at a cage to solve a puzzle counts as proper use of an item :D

@@zekiel3942 Thanks! Boss mode is a lot of fun indeed! I probably won't be speedrunning other metroidvania games anytime soon, since I don't really feel like playing more of these for now.
I never really plan to speedrun this or that, I just play games of all sorts and, regardless of the genre, sometimes I get fascinated by an aspect of the game and try to optimize it.
These days I've been playing Avernum 3, an old RPG from 2002, and I actually started streaming speedruns of it on Twitch. I think I'm the first person to even think about speedrunning that... it's fun.

Really good video,i am attempting to beat hardcore and this video helps but sometimes you go fast i cant see what you are equiping is there a guide i can see that tells it in detail?

In the speedrun, we're using equipment that maximizes damage, but also makes everything very risky. I don't really recommend that you do the same casually to try and beat hardcore.
That said, Dremz made a guide that lists the equipment and number of hits it takes for each boss in the speedrun. You can find it here:

Do you have an advice for casually beating hardcore,its the only achievement i have left to perfect the game,your other speedrun videos helped do the assasin mode and wizard mode easily
If you're just after the achievement, you can go to your save directory (in the installation folder, the "Saves" subdirectory) and set hardcore.sav to read-only mode. This prevents the game from deleting the save, so you can reload it indefinitely. Of course, it will also prevent the game from saving at checkpoints, but you can disable read-only when approaching checkpoints.
If you actually want to do it the intended way, I'd suggest practicing boss fights in Recommended mode. Bosses have the same amount of health as in hardcore, and they behave the same. Try to find a way to consistently beat the bosses - our speedrunning strats do that, but they're really hard to execute because we also try to go as fast as possible.
Basically, take it as slow as you're comfortable with and only attack when you're certain you won't get hit in return. I suggest using a shield (get the regeneration shield in the shop before Rosie!), and the regeneration charm that's in the sewers. Don't bother using spells, except Invisibility. Don't forget to eat the goblin meat after the first boss to get some more max HP. Avoid fights against enemies that you don't have to fight. Collect as many potions and food as you can without taking dangerous detours, and as soon as you're in danger, open your inventory and calmly decide what to do from there.
Of course, don't sell the floppy disks, they will give you one more chance before deleting your save when you die.
These are general advices because I don't know exactly what's giving you trouble. If you have a tough time dealing with something more specific, I'll be happy to provide more precise advice.

Is it only me, or this game feels too short? And what about difficulty? Even hard bosses are droping like flies.
Yeaaah... try it in a casual run and you'll see it's not exactly easy.
