    Very healthy looking trees. I have a very similar setup here in Zone 6A (down to -10 f) here in N W Arkansas. I have two oil heaters in the greenhouse but it will still freeze my tub pond. I keep my trees up on benches and they do just fine. Regards

      Thank you I really appreciate it. I recently started purchasing from Madison Citrus Nursery and I must say your citrus trees are awesome. I have ordered about 15-20 now and every one looks great when I receive it. Great root systems at a great price no disease or pests.

      Thank you. I plan on more updates I have a lot of work to do still. I have some new banana plants and some avocados coming that I’m going to plant in containers. I also have a backyard full of fruit trees and berry bushes. Check out more videos @DWBGardens Gonzo Fruit Trees

      @@DWBGardens I’m also a citrus collector, hobbyist, zone 5b, Montreal, Canada.
      Love your mini greenhouse. I’m surprised the citrus did this well in this type of structure, too hot - too cold.
      But I’m happy it worked out. Citrus trees are becoming very expensive hobby

      Most of my citrus has c-5 rootstock and does well down to 20-32 degrees. So as long as I can keep my greenhouse from freezing it actually does well. I also have a garden shed with heat in the winter that blows a slow draft through underground 4” corrugated pipe to my greenhouse and electric with a thermo-cube outlet and heater that kicks on below 32 degrees.

      @@DWBGardens sweet setup with taking heat from shed.
      My my citrus on c-35 root stock. My collection includes:Calamondin, Australian finger lime, New Zealand lemonade, grafted eureka lemon,
      W navel orange, Fukushu kumquat & Kishu Mandarin.
      I plan to add few this summer but they are hard to find in Canada.

    • @DWBGardens
      @DWBGardens  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Nice collection I also have a kishu mandarin fukushu kumquat navel orange and a cara cara. My kumquats do awesome. Mandarin’s and oranges are a little trickier they want to bloom in February so that’s about when I add supplemental heat to keep the blooms from falling off. I tried a compost pile with corrugated pipe coiled up underneath and it actually worked pretty well but I had a tree fall on my greenhouse and got a bigger greenhouse so I no longer do the compost pile for heat. Just another option for the cold winters

      I’ve had it about 4 years. I give it citrus tone 2 or 3 times a year about every 3 or 4 months (less in the winter).Usually at the end of winter early spring then again at the beginning of summer then in the fall. If it looks like it needs food( yellow leaves) I give it a little bit of liquid fertilizer (captain jacks )usually in the winter and if it needs a boost in the summer. The soil is pine chips mixed with coco,perlite,and potting soil so it drains well but don’t dry out too much. Seems to work well

      Working on it. I have a problem with outgrowing my surroundings. For now I trim them and am trying to sell a few to make space for new ones but my goal is to have a building that is a greenhouse and a few more acres for my outside fruit trees

    Very nice. I’m in central Illinois zone 6. I’m wanting to do something similar with my 3 lemon trees. What type of greenhouse is that?

    • @DWBGardens
      @DWBGardens  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Palram 8x12. Im in central Ohio zone 5b but in a weird spot that is more 6a. Lemon trees are one of the easier citrus trees I grow. As long as you don’t go below 32 degrees for too long you should be fine. I also dug 18” deep square to put it in to help keep heat. Every little thing helps. I also insulate the inside with bubble wrap in the winter

    I'm in KC, MO. I have a question. When will the trunk of my Meyer Lemon tree turn brown? Just got the clipping a couple months ago. It is growing like crazy. But the trunk is still green. Sorry, one more question. There is a main root, is it wise to expose that root? Your stuff looks so great. You must know a lot. I appreciate the fact that you say nature will take it's course outside. That gives me a lot of hope. I have a veggie garden. Sunflowers and a flower garden. It's my first year and I'm in shock and awe at how everything is growing. If you answer this...Thank you.

      Usually year old wood will harden and have more of the brown look. I use neem oil in the winter for insects and spray in the spring some citrus insecticide before flowers set and after fruit sets to not kill bees. Summertime is awesome for citrus since we’re not too hot in the north I usually get a lot of blooms and growth in the summer

    • @reneelyons6836

      Thank you. I appreciate your feed back. I'm going to get some neem oil.

    • @rajeke
      @rajeke 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You can also prune the trunk to a tree form and the wood will naturally lignify over time. Trees always like to have feeder roots. They breathe air just like us. To bring inside, be sure to use Spinosad, Pyrethrin and Insecticidal Soap. Those 3 should take care of most pests. If you have fungus gnats, try a product called mosquito bits. I'm in MO too :)

      I use neem max and also bonide fruit tree and nut spray. If the neem doesn’t work I use the bonide because it has sulfur and seems to work better but I do prefer the neem
