    Very healthy looking trees. I have a very similar setup here in Zone 6A (down to -10 f) here in N W Arkansas. I have two oil heaters in the greenhouse but it will still freeze my tub pond. I keep my trees up on benches and they do just fine. Regards

    nice size on those trees especially the kumquat. what is your potting mix? i'll be making my own in the spring, I lose too many to rot indoors when the mix doesn't dry fast enough. just lost my 3 year old nagami, a grafted yuzu on grapefruit, and a us1284 rootstock which I am surprised rotted since it is half trifoliate

    everything looks amazing! So far this winter has been nice in zone 6, but temps are finally dipping down into negatives next week for the midwest. Looks like your greenhouse is well-equipped for this - how do you heat it and what temps does it usually maintain on the coldest -5 to -10 nights?

    Are you getting them ready for winter? Do you feed before putting them up for winter. and how ofter do you feed per year? They look very healthy! You're bold, I'm afraid to prune.

    • @DWBGardens
      @DWBGardens 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I feed about 3 or 4 times a year and sometimes more if they need it. Less in the winter usually late fall and end of winter I fertilize more in the spring and summer as needed. Pruning gets the dead branches out and keeps them low

    I finally have all of my citrus trees ready for winter. I cleaned them up and sprayed them before they came in the garage. I am having a greenhouse built, it is over half way done. The bubble wrap is a great ideal. I have all of the trees a seedling heat mat and a bunch of grow lights. It is going to e in cold Monday or Tuesday, I think this going to be a cold winter. Thanks for all the information you gave me a few weeks ago.

      Ok great I’m going to grab some. But I have another question…do you ever have an issue with gnats in your soil? What is the cause of it, how to get rid of them, and does it mean I have root rot and my trees are dying?!! I really need help because I dealt with them last year. My trees died and I’m worried that they were my problem, and it was because of something I was doing wrong.

      The big ones are about 20 gallons 24” round and the all black are 10-15 gallon. I’m going to put them together and bury them with some soil from my raised beds and some mulch then dig them out in the containers in the spring.

    Your citrus collection is amazing, I can't stop watching it. What kinds of potting soil do you use? Thanks for sharing.

    • @DWBGardens
      @DWBGardens ปีที่แล้ว

      I honestly have different mixes for different trees. I use coco pine chips sand perlite and sometimes a little compost or fertilizer. But I’ve used potting soils for citrus in the past. All depends on where you live too. Cold weather affects soils different. When the temperature drops certain mixes stay wet too long that’s what I try to avoid since they are in a greenhouse in the winter
