📚 I spent the majority of this video worrying that the books were about to take a dive, but it makes sense to haul in the bath - I mean, there's a ton of bath readers out there. I haven't heard of a lot of these books, but am pleased to hear that Angry Robot are still around; I used to receive ARCs from them back in the day, but then fell of the bandwagon when it came to genre fiction. Either way, Shubeik Lubeik intrigues me most out of all these so thank you for bringing it to our attention, I will keep it in mind for when I eventually allow myself to acquire new books again.
A Woman is No Man by Etaf Rum is literary fiction, and it's such a standout - it hit so hard in so many ways, though it has a handful of triggers to check ahead. Swapping to another genre completely - poetry - Almond Blossoms and Beyond by Mahmoud Darwish is fantastic.

So many amazing books, some went straight to my TBR. Hwoever, I highly recommend to NOT read The Maid. The main character is clearly autistic coded biut so, so badly done. The reviews by neurodivergent peoples say it all. I get angry just thinking about that book. There are also some depictions about e.g. Mexicans which I found to be very stereotypical (cannot judge tho, bc I am not Mexican). I don't think y'all would like it.
I feel like it's been a while since I've done a bullet points comment, so here we go! -Ooh Jasmine and Jake Rock the Boat sounds cute and I'm obsessed with the cover -I'm sooo tempted to add the Beasts of Prey series to my Feb tbr, but it's already so long, so I'm trying to convince myself that I can wait until March lol -Who the Hell is Pansy O'Hara sounds so interesting, added to the tbr -That rainbow notebook is so cool -The Skin and its Girl sold me on the cover, but to find out it's also about a queer Palestinian-American? I need it now, like so bad. Omg yes please for a Palestinian reading vlog. I've loved Against the Loveless World by Susan Abulhawa and I really wanna read more of her works. I was watching an interview the author did where she talks about the land of Palestine being a character in and of itself in the book and I was like, omg yeah it totally is and that was something I really appreciated about it and I think y'all would enjoy that too. I also loved Salt Houses, which I almost read during the reading sprints we did last month and I'm so glad I didn't y'all bc UGLY SOBS lmao. Both of those books are simultaneously heartbreaking and heartwarming. I also recommend We Could've Been Friends, My Father and I by Raja Shehadeh, I saw a recommendation for another one of his books, Palestinian Walks (which I'm currently reading and enjoying), but I had to wait for my hold to come in from the library, but We Could've Been Friends was readily available so I started with that. It's a memoir by a Palestinian lawyer and he and his father both were significant figures fighting for Palestinian rights, and he reflects on his relationship with his father and what he learned about his father after he died. Palestinian Walks is about 6 walks he took in Palestine between 1978 and 2006, again a very nature-focused, love of the land kind of book, which is something I really appreciate seeing. Sorry this bullet point is so long lmao, but these books were so good. -I really need to read We Are the Origin, those covers are so gorgeous and the books sound so good. -I'd be v interested to hear y'all's thoughts on Forged by Blood. I really loved the world building and I loved Dèmi as a main character, but I didn't...love the romance aspect of it so much
yesss Nat! we stannnnn the thick comment. Against the Loveless is one we've been in the middle of for a month and need to finish. it. is. so. good. and heavy so we are taking our time. will absolutely check out we could've been friends.... yes yes! and you know we are so touchy with romance so we cant wait to let you know what we think of the romantic love in Forged haha

I don't think y'all would like it.
will be un hauling both books. thank you.
I feel like it's been a while since I've done a bullet points comment, so here we go!
-Ooh Jasmine and Jake Rock the Boat sounds cute and I'm obsessed with the cover
-I'm sooo tempted to add the Beasts of Prey series to my Feb tbr, but it's already so long, so I'm trying to convince myself that I can wait until March lol
-Who the Hell is Pansy O'Hara sounds so interesting, added to the tbr
-That rainbow notebook is so cool
-The Skin and its Girl sold me on the cover, but to find out it's also about a queer Palestinian-American?
I've read Shift by Jennifer Bradbury Way Back In The Day Of My BookTube Days and I liked it so I'm Definitely Interested In Take, And Speaking Of Angry Robot I'm So Glad To See Somebody Else Talk About Their Books, I Actually Own A Handful Of Them Myself One Being Black Feathers By Joseph D'Lacy Which I Loved 💯🫶📖
