This song makes me cry, brings me right back to being in high school, the autumn leaves, the beginning of my relationship with my future wife, how much time has torn past since then. When songs impact your life and are so greatly attached to memory it only enhances the beauty and nuances within in this strangely nostalgic way. Thanks for reacting to this one!

This band is SPECIAL! Forever grateful that I bought Ænima back i 1996. Still my all time favourite album. If I had to choose one last album to listen to before I left this earth; this would be the one.

My oldest son who flew 50 combat missions and AP3 for the US navy just recently separated from the navy. While he was on deployment we used to pick our favorite tool songs. I told him 3rd eye was one of my top 10 and his response was I just don't get it. After listening to it for a month or so it's one of his top 5 favorite song from tool. I love the trust that these 4 guys have with each other to pull this off. 3rd eye is one of my top 5 favorite tool songs.

I'm always down for an older live video. Maynard is so fun to watch in action, and I really enjoyed your reaction & commentary.
I love abstract are too. Some of the original work I have has black in it, and I love them as much as the colorful ones.
I may have to post pics of them on Twitter sometime.

If time travel, theoretically and in my lifespan, was ever mastered and became accessible to me, I would visit the 90s and 70s, specifically to witness the iconic and unmatched performances of so many legendary artists from those decades. I was born too late man . . .

Dean, my friend! So good to see you once again, spiraling out with Maynard while I have my breakfast. 😉 I hadn't banked on feeling so much emotion so early in the day...
Danny's drums are very tribal, they seem to be able to find my heartbeat every time. And though Maynard is a man, he somehow sings... from the _womb_ . I don't know how he does it, but maybe the bra has something to do with it. 😉 He likes to play around with his anima/animus forces, and this time period was transformational for him.
I just love your "Tool face". 😁 Continue to listen to music that wakes up that primal part of you. Continue to question authority. Pry open your third eye! 👁️ Continue to commit wanton acts of listening!💖

Experience of the beyond (whether influenced externally by some chemicals or some critical situations, or internally by required practices) is 100% subjective, shaped by karmic substance of the particular manifested life - its basis is in mixture of conscious, subconscious and unconscious - huge silo of past memories and impressions, accumulated through many life times (human and non-human), since the dawn of time... We must remember that no two beings see the reality exactly the same, since the truth is distorted through many projecting "lenses" of the karmic substance. This is difficult to explain to regular people since in state when 5 senses dominate (perception of gross matter) differences of projected superficial reality are so minor that people automatically and subconsciously neglect them and think all is same and absolute. Differences in projections become much much bigger when it comes to the perception of beyond (where 5 senses are not of use), when projecting lenses of an individual karmic substance have much bigger impact... So, eventually there is no point to even try to figure out what some crow which Maynard experienced means. What is important, is to experience THIS SONG (not some past Maynard's experience through some petty logical analysis), observe your self and see how you feel with it - if you feel good and happy then this song is possibility for you, a tool, and you should use it. Otherwise just forget about it, it remains just a memory for you, not a reality. Sat Nam, spiral out 🙏🧘‍♂️

I do not think it is the exact same performance, you can see black pauses throughout vid prog to re adjust timing. Still insane how similar it is

Maynard somehow manages to look like a janky 3d video game character from the late 90s or early 2000s when it was still super unrefined. It's really bizarre seeing it in those old video games, not to mention seeing an actual person move like that.

    • @TheBigZapper

Fair point as music is subjective and can be very personal. I'm a big Tool fan but I get why some think it's crap. It can be overwhelming and a bit chaotic at times and a lot of fans sadly has a tendency to over explain and over hype Tool, I get that you can have a profound experience listening to them but again it's an subjective and highly personal experience.
