    This is a super neat video. One question if you don't mind: I have a 3G sdi monitor. Can I use it with the Alexa Mini? What I mean to ask is will a camera with 6G output capabilities be configured to output a lower quality video for the 3G monitor or will it just be incompatible?

    Can you use a 12 G SDI for 1080p video stream? Are the cables backward compatible?

    Thanks for detailed explanation, I have a question, If I have my camera and video switcher supports only 3G Sdi signal will 12G SDI cable work perfectly my device? Because in future we want to upgrade cameras with 4k support. and do not want to upgrade SDI cable again and gain.

    • @BoxCast
      @BoxCast  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      it should! as long as you're not sending a 4k signal to the switcher

    Hi, Josh! Thank you for your job. I have a question. I have Panasonic EVA1 camera which has 6G SDI output. My question is that can I use any SDI cable for EVA1? There are many kinds of SDI cable. Especially I want to use coiled cable but most of them are HD-SDI. Can I use it to my EVA1?

    Hi, How can I find out what the type of SDI cabling we have in our church already.. trying to work out why we can't get a higher output than 720 on our screens at church.

    • @BoxCast
      @BoxCast  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Lisa, you might be able to look at the white print on the cables and see if they state what signal they're using. If they don't, usually the cables have the brand name and model number on the cabling where you might be able to look up the signal type.

    What is the difference between (Analog PAL SD 720 x 576) and
    (SD-SDI 480i
    576i 270Mbps). ?

    • @BoxCast
      @BoxCast  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      There are a lot of differences between the two, probably too many to name in a single response. Could you maybe tell us more about why you're comparing the two?

      My software has drop down of the following output formats :
      PAL
      NTSC
      240p 60
      576p 25
      600p 60
      768p 60
      after this one more drop down to select:
      SDI
      Composite
      HDMI
      Optical SDI
      Component
      Question :
      My requirement is only “SD-SDI”
      Now which combination I have to choose for SD SDI ?
      Thanks in advance!!

    • @markurban9113
      @markurban9113 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@worldofplanes4619 The first one configures the output format (resolution and frame rate). PAL and NTSC are interlaced formats (where each frame has only half the resolution) this norm was/is used in television before HD.
      For internet and computers progressive formats are better (the ones with "p"). First number is vertical resolution, second is fps pick anything works for you.
      The second selection probably defines some physical connector on your output device. If you need SDI select SDI. It is possible that only PAL/NTSC will work over SDI. Anything above 576p25 is considered HD and won't work over SD-SDI

    Hi ! If my camera has a 12g sdi output and the external recorder has a 6g sdi input is going to be a problem in what I record. Great video, thanx :)

    • @joshyclem
      @joshyclem 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello! That shouldn't be an issue, that just means your camera can output up to a 12G-SDI signal, but that usually doesn't mean it only outputs that signal. Especially if it's only a 1080p output.

    • @konstantgousi328
      @konstantgousi328 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@joshyclem If it is a 4K camera the output will be for sure 12g sdi signal? To be more precise I'm talking about the Blackmagic studio camera 4K (12G SDI) and video assist 4K (6G SDI) which is monitor and recorder. Thank you for your time Josh!

    • @BoxCast
      @BoxCast  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@konstantgousi328 That camera should be able to output different types of video quality, including 4K30 (6G-SDI). Your video assist won't be able to record a 4K60 signal (12G SDI), but it should be able to record in up to 4K30 (6G SDI) . Does that make sense?

    Don't say "gigs".
    The lower case "g" is gigabits not gigaBytes. Gigs in common parlance indicates GigaBytes (GB)
