How I Painted the Sideshow Darkseid Statue | Before & After

- In todays video we re-paint the Sideshow Collectibles Darkseid Maquette Statue. With an amazing sculpt by Martin Canale but a dull paint scheme, I give the polstone resin statue a complete makeover. A fresh coat of paint, tons of techniques including ink washes, dry brushing, airbrushing, and paint brushing. The sculpt is enhanced with shading and highlights truly making the colors more vibrant and comic book accurate. Also included was a custom Superman cape burnt on Apocalypse, a Death of Superman cape, and a hand built Motherbox that features an RGB light-up fully controlled by remote.

Darkseid wears an intimidating scowl on his helmeted portrait, and his blue uniform is detailed with the Omega insignia as well as weathering and realistic textures, giving the figure a dynamic and conquering presence in your collection.

I think before is better bc it’s supposed to be specific but you made it more classic, as someone thats seen and met a lot of the artist at sideshow detail is important everything serves a purpose
This was painted for another collector but personally I think the stock paint was good.. a few areas rushed like the base and details in the skin.. but overall it's a great statue 😎👍 thanks for watching.

I made a custom light up cube for mine too but curious if you’d be in the market to make another cube like that? The remote control for the light up is fantastic.

Thanks, Stew. If I have time I would love to make more. This one has a removable panel where you could also replace the light (I include extras) as well as including a remote control. So it will last forever. I have a lot of projects to get to first however. So I'm not sure how quick I can get around to making another one. But I do plan to make more.

Woow super repaint! I have one also and the paint ap from sideshow is very disappointing. I’m curious about the silver paint you are using, can you share the brand? It look easy to apply.
Thanks appreciate it. For acrylic paint I mainly use Vallejo. But Tamiya, Mr Color and Army painter are at the top of my list as well.
