  • 1.5"? 2.5"? Does it make a difference? Let's compare them on a 1/8" Rowmark LaserMax Acrylic on my Thunder Laser BOLT engraving machine. I will also share my cut settings for the 1/8" Rowmark acrylic. Hope it is helpful. Cheers!

    The beam width of a 2.5" lens vs a 1.5" lens is why you loose detail, its like using a thicker lead pencil vs a thin lead pencil. Its not just focal depth, but also beam width. If you used a 4" lens you would loose even more detail.

    Thanks for sharing Gord. It's really awesome what all those machines are capable of doing if the person operating it does their homework like you are doing. I'll just watch you from here if you don't mind. Stay safe and keep up the great videos . Fred.

    Interesting, I have a Boss laser with a 2” lens. Have not tried different lens yet, happy with the quality that the 2” produces.

    Referencing the trace, I'm not an expert, but try doing multiple traces and then layer them together to trace that logo. I would isolate the ROTL and trace it and then add it to the original picture. Some traces may give you good detail in one spot and not the other.

    Nice job Gord, nice job. I did notice the loss of the exhaust and tire definition. I hope the 2-1/2" can be adjusted to bring oin the finer detail because the white is definitely whiter. But darn it sure looks good.

    I just got my 2.5” lens in and can’t believe how much cleaner my engraves are on leatherette -no cleanup at all now!
    I have also been using 1/8” rowmark and find that the left side of my cut lines are a bit distorted. I believe this is due to the angle of the air assist on the bolt. Have you had similar issues? Do you cut with full air or have you dialed yours down? Thanks for the videos!

    • @LaserNUG
      @LaserNUG  15 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Good morning and thanks for tuning in. Yes, for sure, I almost always have kind of like it looks lifted a bit or perhaps distorted is the best way to say it but it is so minute that I don't see it unless I look closely and at an angle. If yours are more prominent, so to speak, perhaps try a much lower power setting and make two passes. I would agree that the air is blowing the heat sideways through the cut. I always use almost full air for my cuts ( i back off the thumb screw just a little from full position). Hope that is helpful. Have a great week!

    Did you have to change your focus setting for cutting with the 1.5 inch lens.

    • @LaserNUG
      @LaserNUG  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey George. No, I just used the Auto-focus. The BOLT Lenses are all calibrated based on the autofocus distance. Cheers!

  • @Djdeuse87
    @Djdeuse87 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    I am awaiting the delivery of my bolt and I also purchased the 2.5” and 4” lenses. For your test, did you adjust the focal distance for your 2.5” lens? That will play a key factor in the detail you are able to get out of that lens.

    • @LaserNUG
      @LaserNUG  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey Dan - Congrats on the new laser! I had a training lesson - they said there is no need to adjust it from the Auto-Focus distance. However, I am learning that with all lenses and lasers, some folks will drop or increase the Z axis distance manually to manipulate a different result than normal. But in short, the autofocus distance does not need to be adjusted in any way, any more than the other two lenses. Enjoy your new laser and thanks for watching!
