I describe being with people as that feeling you get when you're simply hanging out on the front porch with family absent of pressure to figure out what to do; other than be. I practice this approach in my professional work and it's counter-intuitive but creates the deepest connection to facilitates change.

So love Dr. Siegel and his work! Please reconsider the VERY LOUD music at the start. It is startling and bad for my dysregulated nervous system. Thanks!

Siegel himself says that he is oversimplifying. He is speaking to a lay audience with the goal of introducing a parenting model, not to train future neuroscientists. No reason to denigrate the quality of the science that he is referencing. He knows what he's talking about.

I am trying to stop being so double visioned, and seeing myself only in terms of accomplishment. My research on being vs doing led me here and I really liked this segment, still looking for a handle on how I see myself, vs who I really am. Reality, so far, eludes me.

Very interesting! Could also be transferred to the business world: the difference between management (doing) and leadership (being)

I see what the other person is asking, does Anger negate Fear in the primitive brain, or is it possible that their is a mixture of anger/fear that can be brought up to the upstairs brain....having a feeling chart in the home might help as well.

I stay it this way...." are you listening to your child" or are you "speaking at your child"... speaking at your child is what most parents do: you need better grades, don't touch the hot stove, you need to clean your room, you can do better in school, you can be more helpful......versus asking simple questions and shutting up and listening. most parents don't give two craps to be a better parent as it takes energy, time, patience and most parents just want the kid to shut up and go away

Video more relevant to even Adults:From "Human-Being" we have Become:"Human-Doing" rushing to do-do Without understanding at a deeper level.
Current-Examples:Ukraine-war & Climate-Issue.Herd mentality has hijacked cool-deliberations to seek saner answers.

So the whole brainlink metaverse world is to permanently take is away from the internal world. No kindness etc. This combined with Samsung's new clothing that harvests your emotional energy could be the matrix in the making.
Take good care everyone. Sty connected.
    Peace love and gratitude!
